Link
/lɪŋk/
–noun
1. one of the rings or separate pieces of which a chain is composed.
Chain
/tʃeɪn/
–noun
1. a series of objects connected one after the other, usually in the form of a series of metal rings passing through one another, used either for various purposes requiring a flexible tie with high tensile strength, as for hauling, supporting, or confining, or in various ornamental and decorative forms.
Mail (also maille, often given as chain mail or chain maille) is a type of armour or jewellery that consists of small metal rings linked together in a pattern to form a mesh. Mail armour provided a highly effective defense against the weapons of the Medieval Period.
(thank you dictionary.com)
So is the item chain or maille? To say something is both chain and maille is not only redundant but incorrect. Chain is a single series of links most commonly seen in our jewelry where maille is a pattern of these links that you would see in (but not limited to) armour.
Now with that out of the way…
Leather & Link - Fourth department. This department is dedicated to Drago’s Grandfather Ernest Edward. This is the Department where handcrafted leather, maille, & chain items are found. In leather, we have quite a selection including, but not limited to; buckle belts, pouches, hair tie covers, floggers & notebook covers. For maille & chain items, there are bracelets, necklaces, rings, female tops & key chains.
If you see one thing you like please contact us for availability at either the Skype 216-298-1549 number (profile name Travelingraggyman)or, if you are brave, e-mail: TravelerinBDFSM@yahoo.com
Since the pieces are all handmade, availability may need to be checked. Our items are not imported or mass-produced. If the piece you desire is only one of a kind and it has already found a home, we may be able to recreate that item or make one similar to it. So please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Pricing is based on time, materials, and complexity of the design.
Leather & Link Past Creations Group- Please enjoy the photos here of what these amazing artisans have already created.
Our artists love a challenge! If you have a special project in mind, we would love to hear it! Availability of materials and your budget are the only limits. We will find the right artist to bring your idea to life. Take a look around and be inspired to put us to work.
About "Ask For It"
“Hand crafted artistry is our goal, we hope that we meet with your standards for craftsmanship.”
We are an artisan representation company. What that means is we represent people who hand construct or design items. Many of these people perform their craft as a hobby and are unable to travel as often and/or as far as we do. We wish to make the public aware of the fact that there are still individuals who do their part to keep these crafts alive. Unfortunately, several crafts out there are either dead or becoming a dying art form.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.
Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries.
Vendertainers that brought many things to a show and are know for helping out where ever they can.
As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.
We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.
Specializing in Medieval, Goth , Stage Film, BDFSM and Practitioner.
Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.
Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"
A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?
After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...
Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
