Here you will find handmade items, tools, and equipment of past & current artistry that can be found represented by Ask For IT. These items are created and assembled by talented hands from patterns that have been devised by them.

If you see one thing you like please contact us for availability at either the Skype 216-298-1549 number (profile name Travelingraggyman)or, if you are brave, e-mail: TravelerinBDFSM@yahoo.com

Being handmade and individual, the availability of the item needs to be checked. If only one exists and has already found a home we may be able to recreate that item or make one similar to it. The cost of the material & time are the factors that affect the price, as well as the complexity of the design.

Please enjoy the photos here. We hope that you will find something to enjoy.

Artists can make just about anything, please challenge their talents with what you want created if you don’t see it pictured here.
Availability of materials, artist’s talent and your budget are the only limits.

Armor Division Past Creations Group- These are examples of what has been represented. Artists are either current, moved on to other things or no longer physically with us. If commissioned we will find the right artist to bring your idea to life. So, look around and see if you can be inspired to put us to work.

Things here are of an artists/crafters own interpretations and design. These are NOT imported items. We try not to mass produce or cookie cut out the items. Hand crafted artistry is our goal, we hope that we meet with your standards for craftsmanship. Past or present these items have passed through Fairs, shows and events.

Profile Information

Tell us of your likes and dislikes. Music? Tv/Movies? Books? What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like things that protect the body from others weapons.
Are you currently living what may be considered an alternative lifestyle? For example, are you a traveling artist, practicing a non-mainstream spirituality, or part of a BDFSM lifestyle?
Making metal and leather armor for the body is not a skill that is needed every day any more. Those skills can be applied to other items made from metal or leather if asked.
What does the older knowledge of legend, myth, lore, story, tale, wisdoms mean to you?
It shows me some of the ways armor has been used over the ages. Be it for protection for a more unusual use like a mirror.
Do you belong to any organizations; re-enactment based (i.e. households, tribes, clans), spiritual based (i.e. covens, orders, or other pagan groups) or other? If so which ones and where?
It would depend on the time frame the group is based on. Not all ages did man use armor to protect his/her body from harm.
If not of the older life styles, how tolerant are you ?
Tolerant enough to make equipment or tools when asked.
Have you ever been to a Renaissance Faire or Medieval Fest? If so, which did you prefer? If not, which would you rather attend? Would you rather be a participant or spectator? Please relate to us your experience!
Both are fun to be at. Either may have sales that suit my needs.
Do you have any artistry, crafting, and trade… what do you create, Please share your talents with us.
Metal, leather, link, & other materials. From full combat to film and stage. From the historically correct to the thought of fantasy. Draw or send a picture of what you want, we will let you know if it will work and be easy to moved in.

Yes, armor can be seductive and have seen men walk into things because of the styles made. Most of this you can find in Cut of Style Dept profile. But it still is historical correct for mock battles of feast and celebration times.
What is the best way to contact you if your talents are skills are desired?
Skype 216-298-1549 or travelingraggyman
or you can leave a message for me here. Let me know what pictures you like by leaving comments on them.
Please answer all questions honestly and openly so staff and members can get to know you. Approval of your application will be based upon your answers. Any thing else you would like to tell people?
Enjoy.

The Coppergate Helmet

By Dominic TweddleFörnvännen, Vol. 78 (1983)Abstract: A helmet was discovered in 1982 during building works at Coppergate, York. The cap of the helmet is composed of eight individual pieces rivetted together. There are two hinged cheek pieces with brass edge bindings, and the neck was protected by a curtain of iron mail, found inside the helmet. The nasal is decorated with a pair of confronted animals with their rear quarters developing into interlace. Over the eye sockets are hatched brass…See More

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries.

Vendertainers that brought many things to a show and are know for helping out where ever they can.

As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.

We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.

Specializing in Medieval, Goth , Stage Film, BDFSM and Practitioner.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.

Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"

A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?

After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...

Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
