The Moon and Her Magick

The lunar phase is important in determining the best time for magic. There are basically two lunar phases: waxing moon (ideal time for positive magic) and waning moon (ideal time for banishing/negative magic, study, and meditation). In between you'll have the dark moon (the time of greatest power for banishing and negative magic) and the full moon (the time of greatest power for positive magic). Most witches and pagans work around these lunar phases. However, others, suggest a much more complicated subdivision of the moon phases.

Lunar Eclipses
Eclipses represent the perfect union of sun and moon. Any type of magic is acceptable.
There are 2 types of lunar eclipse:
Partial eclipse
Penumbral eclipse of the moon

Blue Moon
Your geographic location can make a difference to your experience of a Blue Moon. Depending on your longitude you may go through a date change prior to other locations which means the full moon is at the first of your new month and falls at the end of the preceding month somewhere else. The "blue" one is always the 2nd full moon in the same month. The regular full moons of each month all have their own individual names as follows: Moon after Yule, Wolf Moon, Lenten Moon, Egg Moon, Milk Moon, Flower Moon, Hay Moon, Grain Moon, Fruit Moon, Harvest Moon, Hunters' Moon and Moon Before Yule.
Historically the Blue Moon was considered unlucky and a real nuisance when it occurred at various times of the year and upset scheduling of church festivals. In love songs the Blue Moon is often a symbol of sadness and loneliness.
The first appearance in print of this expression goes back to the time of Shakespeare, when some folks felt that sometimes the moon visually appeared blue in the sky. Although the expression dates all that way back, it has only recently come to mean the second Full Moon in one month. Blue Moon seems to be a truly modern piece of folklore, old folklore it is not, but real folklore it is.

New moon, Dark moon.
Dark moon occurs either side of the new moon. The new moon is between the last of the waning moon and the beginning of the waxing moon. The new moon has the power of in-between, a time which is not a time, similar to midday, midnight etc. If doing a Dark Moon rite, the active part of the ritual should be a good 45 minutes out from the actual new moon as the energies can be erratic. Also the waning moon allows you to calm down and tune out.

The Craft of the Wise

Banishing an Unwanted Admirer
Cast this spell three days or nights in a row when the Moon is waning. If you can't get your hands on fresh vervain leaves, use the dried ones that should be available at a local herbalist. You'll need about a handful of either. The spell is best cast outside. If this is not possible, it can be done indoors, but as it involves a fire, it must be done with great care.

You will need:

•Vervain leaves

•A well-stoked fire.

Consecrate the wood or coal before lighting the fire. When it is burning fiercely, throw the vervain on to the flames, calling out the name of the person you want out of your life as loudly and with as much passion as you can muster. Follow the name with these words, which should also be said with passion:

I need you not.
I want you not.
Leave my life now
And come back never.
And it harm none, so be it.

Spend a minute or two visualizing the person's face in the fire's smoke and watch it waft away from you - forever.

The Craft of the Wise

Do You Love Me? Spell

Go outside or to a window where you can see the Moon clearly in the sky. Close your eyes and visualize the person you desire. Say this:

"If you love me, let me know.
At this plea, may your love show."

Next time you see the person, take note of any new behavior they may exhibit. If the person seems to talk or look at you more often than usual, see this as a sign that he feels love for you. However, be careful with this spell. You must be sure he has feelings for you in the first place for the spell to succeed.

A Moonbeam Spell to Help You Sleep

Take your pillow to a dry area beneath the moonbeams. Sprinkle a rosemary infusion around it. Work in a counterclockwise manner as you repeat, "Away from me the thoughts of day, away from me my worried ways." Then change your direction to clockwise, altering the incantation to: "When Luna smiles through night's sky, so sleep will come to tired eyes. No more to wake, no more to roam, rest is welcome in my home."

As with the last spell, repeat this last phrase as you put your head on the pillow every night.

Banishing or easing insomnia. Peaceful rest.

Moon just rising in the sky. Night in general. August. Moon in Gemini or Aquarius.

During waxing moon

For this money spell You do not need much. Take during a waxing moon, in bright moonlight, a bowl of water with outside. Let the moonlight reflects in it and immerse yourself in a meditative mood. Call the moon goddess Aradia brought to help you. After a while, put your hands in the bowl with the water that is now charged with the power of the moon.
Now ask about the money blessing that you you wish. Take your hands out of the water and let them air dry. After a few days the hoped amount should be set.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries.

Vendertainers that brought many things to a show and are know for helping out where ever they can.

As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.

We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.

Specializing in Medieval, Goth , Stage Film, BDFSM and Practitioner.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.

Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"

A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?

After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...

Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
