Photobucket The ancient art of crystal ball reading, gazing or scrying has been carried down through the centuries. The many depictions, paintings and literary references of crystal balls used as a form of divination only further attributes the fact that the spheres formed from crystal do transfer energy which manifests itself in the mind's eye reflection of the crystal ball. The visuals and results of scrying or crystal ball reading vary greatly as with any method of using tools for connecting with our inner wisdom, inner voice and spirit. The best is that which we "work out" for our individual self over time and through repeated sessions. To start, use the "keep it simple" technique. A Crystal Ball of 3 inches-5 inches in diameter is more than sufficicient. Prepare a darkened, quiet room with a candle or two lit nearby the area you will be reading the crystal ball. Be sure there are no reflections from anything appearing in the ball, such as objects of furniture, pictures on the walls, etc. Place the crystal ball on a blue or black velvet cloth. You may either want to hold the ball in your hands or place it on a stand or pillow. Be sure if you hold it in your hands to hold it over the dark blue or black velvet cloth to prevent reflections or other objects from the room being viewed in the crystal ball . Initially, you'll want to center yourself. If you usually meditate for centering, as I do, this is a good "pre-reading" practice that works for me to "clear". After you feel centered, gaze lightly into your crystal ball. Try not to blink, however do not stare. Then take deep, slow breaths in and out, relax and continue to gaze lightly into the crystal ball's center. To start you should do this for at least 15 minutes each time you practice, and then gradually increase the time to 20 minutes, 25 minutes, etc. until you feel you "know" you are "there". This usually occurs around the third or fourth practice session. You will begin to "see" a small, cloudy formation, almost a "glow" in the center of the crystal ball which is your focusing area of your "visions". You very well may have a "vision" the first time you practice, or it may take several times before seeing anything. Just be patient, and "in tune" with your inner self and remember, our ability to "read", "see", "hear " or "visualize" is deep within us always, we are merely using tools to help us fine tune the focus .

Crystallomancy by Rev. Carol A. Ingle (Raven)

Crystal ball readings can be fun and enlightening. Sometimes they conjure up images of gypsies, witches and magicians but the energies of a crystal ball are much more.

Inclusions

Crystal Balls can be used as oracles of divination by those who are clairvoyant. They come in many sizes, shapes, colors, types of crystal, with varying inclusions that sometimes allow a psychic to see things within the images created by the crystal itself, or more to the point, use of a clear quartz crystal ball with few inclusions or imperfections, and watching holographic images appear within. "Within what?" you ask. Within the psychics mind as guided by spirit or the client's soul imprint.

Psychics are generally attracted to the crystal ball they will use, based on the frequency of the crystal. As with any crystal, the larger the crystal ball, the stronger the energies and viewing area. Gazing into a clear crystal ball opens the third eye and allows the psychic to see images.

As with all crystals that come into your life, the right crystal ball just seems to call to you. There is something in the frequency of the crystal that feels right. It is best to see and hold the crystal ball before buying it, rather than shop it online. After selecting your crystal ball, take it home and clean it. I use mild soap and water then place it in the sunlight and moonlight to energize. Other psychics have their own methods for cleaning and clearing crystals.

Next, place the crystal ball on a stand on a table that has a clear surface. To begin the reading, some psychics have rituals, while others, such as myself, just gaze into the crystal ball and wait for images to appear. These images are produced by the third eye of the psychic. Images within the crystal ball may appear as stationary or move around as if viewing a hologram. Two people gazing into a crystal ball at the same time, may see different images.

As with all forms of divination, images often appear as archetypes, whose interpretation is left for the reader or the person having the reading. The larger the image appears in the crystal ball, the closer the timeline for it to manifest in third dimension, and the more significant the information. Images my appear stationary, or move about. They may appear two dimensional or holographic. If you cannot 'see' anything in the crystal ball at first, be patient and keep trying. At the very least a crystal ball will bring energies to the room in which it is placed.

Crystal Ball Pointers by Rev. Carol A. Ingle (Raven)

Scrying, or crystal-ball-gazing, as it is commonly called, is the act of steadily concentrating into a solid-lead glass or quartz-crystal sphere to bring about visions for prediction. A crystal ball acts as a point of focus for your eyes, attracting the attention of your mind.

Large crystal spheres are often best, as the seer has a larger, deeper area for visions to manifest. The crystal sphere can be placed on a pedestal, stand, or held. However, if you choose to hold it in your hands, a dark cloth should be placed between your hands and the sphere.

Following each of the steps below for successful scrying:

1. Dim the lights in the room, and allow sufficient lighting for the crystal, either by using candles or a smaller lamp. Having arrived at a calm state of mind, begin focusing your attention on the center of the crystal. Most importantly, look into it, not on the surface of it.

2. Begin to concentrate by staring at the sphere. There are two types of mental concentration. One form of concentration is where you direct your mind to one thought only. The second form of concentration is where you allow the mind to become completely blank, and in doing so, the mind becomes susceptible to any thought or image that it receives. Either form of concentration works.

3. As you stare, do not strain, but gently allow your eyes to focus. Think of your desires, with the expectation of seeing images. Try to hold your eyes open -- avoid blinking -- but continue to keep your stare gentle. As you practice, the muscles in your eyes will strengthen until a gaze can be obtained for a long period of time. Some professional scryers can keep their intense gaze for at least 30 minutes.

4. Don't allow your eyes to wander over the ball, rather keep them in a fixed place, looking intensely into the depths of the ball.

5. Eventually, the ball will cloud over, appearing milky grey in color, as if it was filling up with fluid. This process is called 'clouding,' and is the first indication of oncoming images. Many people do not get further than this stage, while others will see the ball change from clouding to color. Another common vision is seeing ripples, as if a pebble was thrown into a pond.

6. As you stare into the crystal ball you will begin to see visions produced by …

Your own imagination.
Past events that your mind recalls.
Forgotten occurrences.
Current events and visions that foretell the future.

During your first attempt to read a crystal ball, performing these exercises for five minutes is sufficient. It is possible that you will have visions, but it is probable that you will have little to none during your first attempt. As with most activities, including sports, musical instruments, and even learning to read, scrying requires practice. So ... practice, practice, practice!

I use a small Black Tourmaline sphere, it rests on top of a bottle cap when I scry. It has flecks of quartz in it and resembles the night sky. I have a homemade black mirror as well. Although I liked having a bigger plane to focus on, I find the sphere works better for me. Thank you for posting this!

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries.

Vendertainers that brought many things to a show and are know for helping out where ever they can.

As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.

We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.

Specializing in Medieval, Goth , Stage Film, BDFSM and Practitioner.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.

Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"

A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?

After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...

Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
