Celtic Flame is OOAK handmade, with both carving and burning applied. It is wavy form, with a slightly primative four leave clover at the base end. The top features a flowing line and dot design coupled with spirals. The lower middle is evocative of a Cello or violin type instrument. Though both sides are based off the same design, they were of course rendered by hand, and so each side is slightly different. The blade end of the athame has a light waxing with soy wax, but the clover grip end is left unwaxed.
Measurements: approx. 5 1/2 inches long.
approx. 1 1/4 inches at it's widest section. 1/4 inch thick it's thickest area.
I carve and wood burn, and like to try out new ideas. An athame is a knife the practioners use, (Witches, Wiccans, etc.)to cut the energies around them at various times, or to draw a Circle of protection, for worship or workings. Athames are not as a rule meant for physical work, i.e. cutting herbs, cords, stirring liquids. I thought that being the case why not try my hand at wooden ones, and now here we are.
This athame is made of a single piece of cedar wood. first carved and sanded, the woodburned for coloration and decoration. Pictures are of both sides of the Athame and it's handsewn pouch.
