• The Dark Moon (also called Balsamic Moon or Waning Crescent

Moon (315 degrees - 360 degrees) provides three and a half days
of velvety womb-like darkness. It occurs just before the
beginning of the next lunar cycle, and is related to the Sabbat
of Samhain. Some traditions believe that the Moon rests during
this phase while she gathers information and lays the foundation
to implement new ideas. They use the time to prepare for the
rebirth of the next cycle, limiting their spell work to
prophecy, cursing or chaos magick. Other traditions revel in the
darkness and find the dark of the Moon to be a time of great
power, useful for any and all magickal work.

• Occurs: Starts 10 1/2 days after the Full Moon and lasts till

14 days after the Full Moon.

• Conjuring: Most famously known, of course, for cursing, chaos

magick, and bringing justice to bear. It is also a time to move
within self, to explore our darkest recesses and understand our
angers and passions, steering them to work for us in a positive
way. Dealing with attackers is best begun during the dark moon.
Many Crone Witches are now reclaiming the phase as a time to do
most kinds of magick.

• Best Time For Magick: Oddly enough, the strongest pull of the

Dark Moon is around 10 a.m.

• Things To Work For: For some: Addictions, Change, Divorce,

Enemies, Justice, Obstacles, Removals, Separation, Stopping
stalkers and theft. For others: Crone Magick, Fey workings and
general magick.
