Nature's Table-essential oils Part 2 Precautions!!! and Animals!!! Nature's Table-essential oils Part 2 Precautions!!! and Animals!!!

Aromatherapy and Animals
We all know when we have pets that some time or another they come home with fleas, fleas love to nestle in carpets, bedding, and rugs. If you want to use essential oils on them always avoid leaving any neat oil on their fur and avoid the eyes. The best method is to wash your pet's bedding regularly, putting a couple of drops of pure lavender oil in the water and to use it in an aerosol spray on your carpets and rugs.

Treating Dogs:
600 ml warm water
2 drops pure lavender essential oil
2 drops pure cedarwood essential oil
Swish the essential oils around well to disperse them in the water. Take the dog brush and soak the bristles in this solution. Then brush the dog through.
Alternatively, soak a piece of disposable cloth in the solution and rub it over the coat. Make sure you avoid the face and delicate sections of the underneath area. Continue until the whole coat is covered.

Treating Cats:
Soak an ordinary fabric collar in the following solution: Allow to dry before using. Repeat every 4-6 weeks.
150 ml water
5 ml alcohol (vodka is good)
3 drops pure lavender essential oil
3 drops pure citronella essential oil

Or use this light spray in a plant mister on bedding. Repeat every week for six weeks.
150 ml water
5 ml alcohol (eg. vodka)
1 drop pure lavender essential oil
1 drop pure citronella essential oil

Breastfeeding Mothers:
Essential oils can find their way to the mothers mild, avoid
using essential oils while breastfeeding, unless under the supervision of a
qualified aromatherapist. Jasmine should be avoided at all costs,
even if the mother is suffering from postnatal depression.
Jasmine is proven to decrease the flow of breast milk.

Babies and Children:
Aromatherapy is beneficial for babies and children, but unsupervised home
use can carry some risks. For children over six years, the amount of
essential oil used is usually half that is recommended for adults.
Oils which can be used that are the least toxic is: Lavender, myrtle (which is
a gentler alternative to eucalyptus for coughs and colds) camomile, mandarin,
and rose otto. Do a 24 hour patch test of any oil before using it.

24 hour patch test:
If you have a sensitive skin or asthma or eczema, please do a patch test first
mix 3 drops of the test oil in 5ml carrier oil and apply a little
to the crook of the arm or the inside of the wrist ( these are the most
sensitive areas). Leave the rest area uncovered and unwashed for 24 hours.
If there is no itching or redness, then it is safe to use the oil.

Elderly people:
Frail, elderly people, take the same precaution as for people on medication.
Keep to a low-strength use of essential oils. as the elimination of essential
oils through the lungs, kidneys and liver may be impaired, so there is
an increased risk of toxicity.

Pet care:
Use the essential oils with great care and please keep to the recipes given
for usage for pets.If the oils is not properly used there could be problem
because the oils are being consumed caused by the fact that cats and dogs have the tendancy to lik themselfves. Seek veterinary advice if you have any
reason for concern.

Citrus oils:
Due to certain substances in citrus oils (eg. neroli, mandarin, lemon and bergamot ) can react with UV light from the sun (or a sunbed) and can cause
skin inflammation. Do not use these oils for 4-6 hours before going exposing the skin to UV light.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries.

Vendertainers that brought many things to a show and are know for helping out where ever they can.

As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.

We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.

Specializing in Medieval, Goth , Stage Film, BDFSM and Practitioner.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.

Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"

A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?

After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...

Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
