Hoodoo Oils Recipes and Instructions
OILS
QUICK AND EASY SPIRITUAL CLEANSING OIL
MIX: Equal parts: Lemongrass Oil, Hyssop Oil, and Camphor Oil.
ADD: A pinch of dried Lemongrass Leaves and a pinch of dried Hyssop Leaves.
BLEND: Shake well before using. If you let the mixture "work" together for at least one week, it will improve; a full month will bring out the best fragrance.
QUICK AND EASY LOVING OIL
MIX: Equal parts: Rose Oil, Rose Geranium Oil, and Musk Oil. ADD: A pinch of dried Rose Petals and a pinch of dried Lovage Root Chips.
BLEND: Shake well before using. If you let the mixture "work" together for at least one week, it will improve; a full month will bring out the best fragrance.
QUICK AND EASY MONEY AND BUSINESS OIL
MIX: Equal parts: Cinnamon Oil, Bayberry Oil, and Mint Oil.
ADD: A pinch of dried Cinnamon Chips, a pinch of dried Mint Leaves, and a pinch of crushed Pyrite crystals.
BLEND: Shake well before using. If you let the mixture "work" together for at least one week, it will improve; a full month will bring out the best fragrance.
FOLLOW ME BOY
Mix: Equal parts: Orris root, dried catnip, dried Calamus, Licorice, Dried Damiana, Dried Jasmine Flowers.
Powder and mix ingredients together, add to 1oz of sweet almond oil.
Let stand fro a couple of days and add a few drops of Neroli oil. Can be used as perfume or in a bath.
Conjure Oil:
Mix together the following proportions
Frankincense 1/3
dram Sandalwood 1/3
dram Lotus 1/3
Dram This oil works like "a genie in a bottle" to manifest anything you need into reality.
Fast Luck Oil
Cinnamon oil 3 drops
Wintergreen oil 20 drops
Vanilla oil 20 drops
Combine in a carrier oil base such as sweet almond or jojoba.
ABRAMELIN OIL
4 parts Cinnamon essential oil
2 parts Myrrh essential oil
1 part Sweet Flag|Calamus essential oil
half of the foregoing total weight Olive oil
Mix in about a 1oz or dram of olive oil. (extra virgin is not necessary) regular is fine.
CONFUSION OIL
usage:
Causes enemies and opponents to lose their way essential oils:
1 part Vertiver
1 part Marjoram
2 parts Patchouli
herbs:
Guinea Pepper Grains(grains of paradise)
Poppy Seed
Black Mustard Seed
Top with carrier oil
(e.g. almond oil which has been dosed with Vitamin E)
INFLAMMATORY CONFUSION OIL
usage:
Enemies and opponents fight each other instead of you essential oils:
1 part Patchouli
1 part Essential Oil of Capsicum (dilute! dilute!)
herbs:
Guinea Pepper Grains (grains of paradise)
Red Pepper
Black Pepper
Poppy Seeds
Black Mustard Seeds
Top with carrier oil
(e.g. almond oil which has been dosed with Vitamin E)
VAN VAN:
palmarosa oil and gingergrass are difficult to obtain, but they can be found if yoiu are persistent.
The ingredients for Van Van Oil have always varied from maker to maker, but the absence of any one or two of the Asian Grass oils will not hurt the results much, for usually the blend will focus on citrusy lemongrass and citronella, with only a hint of musky vetivert, floral palmarosa, and spicy gingergrass.
VAN VAN OIL
16 parts lemongrass oil
8 parts citronella oil
1 part vetivert oil
1 part palmarosa oil
1 part gingergrass oil if you can get it
Mix together and let sit for at least week. This is your stock oil. Do not apply it directly, for like all uncut essential oils, it can be a skin irritant to some people.
Therefore:
In each 1/2 oz. bottle of VAN VAN OIL to be made up, place
a pinch of dried lemongrass leaves
a pinch of crushed pyrite crystals
one full standard dropper-full of the above stock blend
Fill the bottle with undyed almond oil as a carrier
FOUR THIEVES VINEGAR
garlic (crushed or whole),
red pepper (crushed),
black peppercorns (whole), and
black mustard seed (whole).
3 pints
white wine vinegar or apple cider vinger
Steep the plants in the vinegar for 10 days. Strain, seal tightly in a glass jar. Place the jar in a warm, dark cupboard for four weeks, shaking occasionally.
JOHN THE CONQUEROR OIL
John the Conqueror Oil traditionally consists of broken pieces of John the Conqueror root (Ipomoea jalapa or I. purga) steeped in Almond or another vegetable carrier oil that has been tinted purple (or yellow); it is customary to add essential oils as fragrance to suit. The oil can also be made with powdered I. jalapa root.
Let the root fragments and/or powder sit in the oil blend at least a week before use -- a month is better. The root is traditionally left in the bottle as it is used. If you are making up small bottles (e.g. a dram vial or 1/2 oz. bottle), you should put two or three pieces of root in each bottle. If you work out of a large stock bottle (e.g. 4 oz. or 16 oz.) be sure to refresh the root with new pieces each time you top up the bottle.

Here is a list of the most commonly used Carrier oils. I believe the most used oil in Hoodoo work may be the Sweet Almond Oil.

Those with * are the easiest to come across, either at a grocery or a health food store. The others may be found online and in metaphysics shops or gourmet shops for the nut and specialty oils.
Dosage /Measurements for ingredients: Equal Parts refers usually to 1 drop, 1 gram, 1 cup, 1 tsp. or 1 oz. Unless otherwise noted.
For oil to raw material ratio here is a basic start point. 2 ounces oil per 2 tablespoons herb or flower. (so if the recipe calls for 1 tbsp the carrier oil would be 0.5oz)
When working with a batch, mix the oils into a larger container and then transfer into the smaller storage bottles. Using droppers to add or a pipette. Always label the batch working with this information.

As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.
We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.
Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"
A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?
After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...
Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
