There are many different approaches to healing and one of my favorites involves the use of candles. Books and articles abound on this topic and there's a good chance that no two witches do the same thing so I'd like to share an approach that I enjoy. I have a candle day once a week in which I charge and burn candles for friends and acquaintences far and near. Let me share with you my personal approach and then I'd love to hear everyone elses techniques! Blessings!

I start by bathing and cleansing my body as I do all rituals. Next I put on some music, generally something with spirit flutes and a soft drum beat and light incense, my preference being sandalwood but eucalyptus, frankincense or ginger works well too. It's all about what helps ease you and put you in the spirit of healing. :)

I place the candle(s) for healing, my pentacle, my BOS, my oil to annoint the candle (I prefer grapeseed but to each is their own), a candle for spirit and a candle lighter in the center. Then I go through the process of casting a circle which for me involves a feather for the east, a candle for the south,  a bowl of water for the west, and a handful of stones for the north. As I move deocile about my circle starting in the east, I call to the elements and ask them to join me in my working and thank them for the blessing they bring to all of life and to me personally and then focus for a few moments on just what that particlular element represents and really identify it's presence within my being. I work my way completely around and then sit on my knees in the center of my open and protected circle and light my spirit candle.  I call to the Ancient Ones and ask them to be present with me and guide my workings for the betterment of those I seek to heal, I then call to all gods and goddesses near and far and ask them the likewise. Once I have called all these energies to my aide I make certain that I relay to them my extreme appreciation for their involvement with humanity at large and with me personally and that they may continue to guide my footfalls, aide my hands in their service to others and keep my heart open and warm.

Next I take the candles and one by one face myself, candle raised high and visualize the properties of each element thoroughly filling this candle saving air for last. Once I get to air I finish by blowing down the candle and then I pull it near and focus my energy into it. It is at this point that I inscribe the recipients name into the candle, annoint the candle and visualize them being perfectly healed.

After I finish all of the candles, I thank the gods and goddesses and the Ancient Ones for having joined me and aided my working and then move widdershins back around my circle thanking each element for it's aide and presence yet again.

I lick my fingertips and extinguish the spirit candle and move to my home alter with the now charged candles and light each one and say a quick blessing for my friend and then I consider it done.  And it might be noted that I always light a universal candle for the healing of all forms of life known to me or otherwise.

As I stated, no two people generally work in the same way, at least not as solitaries go and thus this can easily be tailored to suit each individual.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries.

Vendertainers that brought many things to a show and are know for helping out where ever they can.

As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.

We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.

Specializing in Medieval, Goth , Stage Film, BDFSM and Practitioner.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.

Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"

A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?

After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...

Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
