Imbolc, in the ancient Celtic calender was a very important celebration. Being midway between winter and summer, Imbolc is the renewing of the Earth, praying that the seeds will grow and making sure that the lambs and foals would be born. The most important part of Imbolc was the performing of rituals so that they had enough food until the summers months. By the time of February 1st, food was scarce and the animals needed sufficient fuel for their babies to be born. It is believed that the word Imbolc comes from the old Celtic word for ewe's milk (Oi-melc). Some say the day to perform the rituals is on the 1st of February, some say the second. Most people got around this by ensuing the celebrations went on for two days.

Celtic Mythology
IMBOLC is a so-called cross-quarter day, meaning that it comes at the midpoint of winter between the darkest day and the vernal equinox. This means that in terms of the solar cycle (known as a 'year'), the exact date of Imbolc would be nearer to the 4th or 5th of February right in the middle of the House of Aquarius. At this point the length of the days is as long as at Samhain and the sun is rising and setting at the same position in the stone circle as at Samhain. Imbolc begins a quarter of the year up to Belltaine marked by rising life and light out of the watery depths of winter. This lengthening of days in Old English was called the Lencte which gave the name Lent. Imbolg is in the wintry quarter of Fálias ruled by the cold hardness of the stone and the reflective introversion of Mórfesa but stands as the gatehouse to the Lenten quarter. It also marks the time at which the snow begins to turn to rain in many parts of Western Europe and when the King of Floods, the King of Lochlann and Manannán start to do their magic.
Landsegen ("Land-blessing") - or "Charming of the plow" - is a holiday celebrated by Germanic heathens. The day on which it is celebrated depends on the context of the tradition:
For heathens who use a solar calendar, the date would fall on the first of February.
For Irminists, it would be celebrated on the full moon of Hêrmânôd, the lunar month which most nearly aligns with February, since Irminists use a lunar calendar.
On this day, the farming implements are blessed, as is the land, and the hearth fire is put out and re-lit using a need-fire. The household spirits are sacrificed to on this holy tide. The main focus of this day is the home.
Sacred Wicca
To show your hospitality and to encourage the Goddess to spend the night at your home, create a "Brigid's Bed" near the hearth fire. By inviting Brigid to stay overnight in your home you're symbolically asking that Her powers of fertility, blessing and healing be with your family all year long. A Brigid's bed can be a pretty wooden or cardboard box, a wicker basket or anything large enough to hold your Brigid corn dolly. Be sure to decorate it with ribbons, flowers, herbs etc. and place a comfy blanket on the bottom of the bed. Don't forget to place the priapic wand in the bed so that the Goddess will not be lonely.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.
Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.
Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"
A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?
After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...
Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
