SLEEPLESSNESS

Children suffer two types of sleeplessness. The first is a result of irritability and anger, whilst the second is due to over-excitement.

SYMPTOMS:

2. The child's eyes are half open when asleep, moaning during sleep.
3. When awake the child is impossible to calm, and in an overwrought state that prevents sleep.
4. The child keeps waking up in an excited state and starts to play with toys.

1.

CAUSES:

Sleeplessness in babies can be due to :

2. Hunger
3. Wind
4. Teething
5. A dirty nappy
6. Colic
7. Anger
8. Over stimulation

In older children it may be due to;

9. Irregular bed times
10. Being too hot or cold
11. A stuffy bedroom
12. Over-tiredness
13. Noise
14. Stress or anxiety
15. Food allergy
16. Too much caffeine from cola drinks

COMMON REMEDIES:

To reduce sleeplessness you should suggest that the client carry the child, provide them with plenty of fresh air, and consider changing their sleeping position.

HERBAL REMEDY AND DOSAGE:

Suggest that the client should give their child oat straw. This should be in the form of four tablespoons steeped in two cups of boiling water. Steep the oat straw for 15 minutes.

Then the drink should be brought to the boil and 2 tablespoons each of Chamomile, Lemon balm and Catnip should be added.

Steep for 10 minutes.
WHY HERBAL MEDICINE IS A BETTER OPTION FOR CHILDREN

1.

Many herbalists have parents cometo them to gain advice about which herbs to give to their children when they are sick. They would prefer to use herbs instead of conventional medicine so that the child does not have to suffer the side effects that can often be associated with orthodox drugs.

Herbal medicines can be extremely beneficial to children as they are well suited to their immune system, which is likely to be more responsive. This is due to the lack of stress in their lives , plus they are unlikely to have a bad diet, and they will not have been exposed to many antibiotics or drugs.

Many childhood complaints can be resolved by the use of gentle herbal remedies. However, sometimes when symptoms persist, you may have to suggest that the parent take their child to see a doctor. But otherwise for the usual children's problems, herbal medicines are a great solution.

At a young age, it is vital that children are given safer drugs. If they are constantly given stronger drugs their immunity system will weaken, plus they may suffer side effects.

HERBAL MEDICINES ARE BENEFICIAL TO CHILDREN IN MANY WAYS:

2. They strengthen the child's constitution and helps build their resistance to illness.
3. They provide a gentler source of treatment
4. They make the child more aware of the natural healing power of plants
5. Some herbs like Echinacea, Astragalus and Garlic have been tested in laboratories and have shown that they are particularly beneficial to the immune system.
6. They help the child maintain physical and emotional balance.

AT the start of their life a child can benefit greatly from herbal treatment as the herbs treat both the fundamental cause of the illness as well as the symptoms. So if a child were to catch the flu, herbal treatment would result in the child regaining balance of the , and increased immunity as well as relief from symptoms such as a cough and headache etc.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries.

Vendertainers that brought many things to a show and are know for helping out where ever they can.

As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.

We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.

Specializing in Medieval, Goth , Stage Film, BDFSM and Practitioner.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.

Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"

A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?

After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...

Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
