• Slave silks: The books clearly state that "white silk" and "red silk" is purely a reference to the slaves virginity (or lack thereof). "Yellow silk" and "grey silk" are two colors in common use to designate tavern slaves (particularly paga-taverns, yellow), and slaves owned by the state (grey). Use of these colors is purely at the discretion of the master; they are not some other-worldly martial-art style designation of a slaves training - those records (if any) are kept and transfered by owners/trainers.
• Slave status: Being a slave on Gor (there are numerous references in the books, I'm not going to bother citing page references, if you doubt me, re-read) is not dependant on being owned. A slave whose master is slain remains a slave, simply an un-claimed slave, subject to claiming by anyone with the strength to do so. According to the books, the only legally accepted way for a slave to change that state of being is to be granted freedom by their owner. Before the Norman bibliophiles out there start typing, Tarl was released prior to being Bosk, and examine the plot again in Fighting Slave of Gor regarding a slave becoming a Free Woman.
• Use of Gorean terms/titles: Home stones: I'm actually glad to see that very few people actually claim to have one, or even seen anothers; anything more is an entirely different post. Master/Mistress/kajira/kajiru/Free Person: All Free Persons are Master/Mistress, regardless of owning a slave. If you are not Free, you are slave - gender specific terms where applicable. Ubar/Ubara: Excepting in reference to within the confines of their own home - in his home every man is an Ubar - the titles use is almost impossible to translate to Earth use - are you a leader of a large region, mayor, governor? then you're not an Ubar. Jarl: "leader of men" are you in fact a leader?, complete with those that have sworn fealty to you? or are you an active leader in a group with structured rank - Captian of a ship, etc? then you are not a Jarl. *For clarity on this title: if you are head of a House, a Gorean version of a Leather Family, then yes, Jarl applies - unless you're the only member of course.
• Gor vs BDSM: Before I begin on this, a quick geometry refresher: A rectangle, by definition, is not a square; but a square is a rectangle: Four sides? Yes. Opposite sides equal in length? Yes. Interior angles all 90 degrees? Yes. Difference being that a rectangle doesn't require all sides to be of equal length. Ergo, a square is a specific type of rectangle. Is BDSM Gorean? No, living BDSM does not imply an adherance to the concepts from Normans works. Is living Gorean BDSM?... Yes. Break it down before your fingers leap to the keys: BD/Bondage & Discipline - anyone that says a Gorean style Master/slave relationship doesn't know the terms "slave goad" or "slave chains." DS/Domination & submission - Does this actually need explaination to be seen as a "yes"? SM/Sadism & Masochism - here is the only murky distinction. Sadism implies deriving pleasure from anothers pain, if you consider yourself a master/mistress and don't own a flogger or crop or whip, then your answer here is "no" but I'm certain that no self-respect master is far from their 5-standed slave whip. Masochism is the same, for receiving of pain... if as a slave you don't get a warm feeling at the site of your master coming at you with an impliment of "training" then the answer is "no." If you answered "no" to the SM portion, then I feel you may need to seriously consider if you are Gorean. Reread the books, contemplate the natural order expressed in them - even the alpha male of a wolf pack will attack the female to remind her of her place. Is the Gorean lifestyle BDSM? Yes - a specific type. Just like a square is a specific rectangle.

The TIED social will be held on Jan 22nd. Time and location TBA upon RSVP. All those planning on attending must RSVP by midnight Thursday the 20th. There will be a room set aside for the Littles to enjoy fun and games. Any Littles planning on attending should bring their own toys: coloring books, glowsticks, stuffed animals, and such.

Downriver Club Munch-Thursday, January 20th

The public munch is from 7:30PM to 9:30PM at The Broadcast Booth in Allen Park, located at 6550 Allen Road.

This a beautiful location on Southfield in the jewel of Downriver. There is street parking out front or lots of additional parking around back with lighting everywhere.

There is a $10.00 per person cover charge that includes food, soda, coffee, and tea. You don't need to buy any drinks or food! For those interested, they also have a full bar (not included) and even professional pool tables at $8 an hour.

This is a nice, clean, upscale, and safe location to meet everyone at. There are even couches in the bar area and TVs everywhere. This is a fairly new establishment that has been in Allen Park now for 2 years.

This event repeats every month on the third Thursday.

Demonstrations for Fetish Party

I am helping organize a fetish party at the Chrome Cat, a night club in Lansing on Saturday, March 12. We're advertising it as an invite only party, and there will be a very diverse crowd, some vanilla folks, and there will be some more experienced in attendance. Hopefully you will be there too! :-)

I would first like to extend the invitation to any FL folks who would like to join us for a night of performance art, demonstrations, and dancing. I guess it would be something in between a munch and an official play party. Because of the variety in the crowd, and that it's being held in a bar, we will not have much space available for play, as well as the alcohol factor being present, although we will be bringing in some equipment, such as a St. Andrew's Cross. There will be a few performances. So far we have a flogging demo lined up, a horse & pony number, a furry drag number, and a few other acts that are still in the works.

I am seeking anyone who might be interested in taking part in our fetish night. In particular, a boot black would be amazing. I think some rope bondage would be a delicious addition as well, or some fire play! I would love to find a play piercer, although I'm not sure if that would be too much for the crowd... If you have any fun talents you'd like to show off, message me and we can see if I can fit it into the evening. Or, if you have any questions about the event, let me know.

Port Huron Jan Munch

January Munch at the Raven coffee house in downtown Port Huron is going to be held on the 13th from 7:30 p.m. till 10:00 or till we feel like leaving. They offer a menu of sandwiches, snacks and soups along with over 100 different coffee selections. Feel free to contact me for directions or interest in going. We met upstairs on the leather couches.
