    Ghostvillage.com review

For those interested in the macabre fiction of the late H. P. Lovecraft, and the grim mythos he successfully spawned in his writings, this fascinating and well-crafted work on tarot by Donald Tyson will be a most welcome addition. Necronomicon Tarot reveals the "phantasmagoric desert wandering of Alhazred" in text and in memorable artwork by Anne Stokes.

This is an approach to magick -- perhaps one of the darkest of magick approaches -- divination with the dead. The grim, gruesome, and frightening Old Ones and Deep Ones, including Cthulhu, will fascinate the reader and user of this tarot system. Donald Tyson also shares with the readers a special divination spread.

This is the type of tarot which will fascinate its users with personal and spiritual applications. It is one of Donald Tyson's best works to date and should find a wide audience who are interested in communicating with the dead by way of divination tarot.

Must reading for those who enjoy tarot, working with a deck that is unusual, and those who enjoy the work of Donald Tyson. Tyson is also the creator of run dice and power glyphs. Necronomicon Tarot is the third component in Donald Tyson's trilogy of works involving H. P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos.

Tarot Card for Everyone for Today: January 1, 2014

    The Fool

    General Meaning:

Pamela Coleman-Smith's artful rendition of an "innocent Fool" archetype (Rider-Waite deck) is often used to represent Tarot in general. Early classical versions of the Fool card, however, portray quite a different character -- a person driven by base needs and urges, who has fallen into a state of poverty and deprivation.

In some instances, he is made out to be a carnival entertainer or a huckster. In others, he is portrayed as decrepit and vulnerable -- as the cumulative result of his delusions and failures. Not until the 20th century do you see the popular Rider-Waite image of the Fool arise -- that of an innocent Soul before its Fall into Matter, as yet untainted by contact with society and all its ills.

Modern decks usually borrow from the Rider-Waite imagery. Most Fool cards copy the bucolic mountainside scene, the butterfly, the potential misplaced step that will send the Fool tumbling into the unknown. Don't forget, however, that the earlier versions of this card represented already-fallen humanity, over-identified with the material plane of existence, and beginning a pilgrimage towards self-knowledge, and eventually, wisdom. The Fool reminds us to recognize the path of personal development within ourselves -- and the stage upon that path where we find ourselves -- in order to energize our movement toward deeper self-realization.

    Kirt A White
Kirt A White 2:11in the evenin' Jan 1
    Jan 1st
    Hanged Man
He hangs motionless from a tree. Upside down, eyes closed with no indication if he is alive or dead. As you approach you notice the tree is bathed in a silvery light, charms, medallions and bones decorate the various branches. Many multi-colored balls of light swirl and spin around the tree, making patterns and designs in the air. As you draw closer you notice that for a second everything seems to stop as if time itself is suspended. The mans eyes snap open and a smile slowly creeps across his face "Ah that's the answer" he says. He slowly climbs down from the tree raises his hands and a ball of brilliant white light appears. With a chuckle he hurls the ball into the sky and turns to leave, after a few paces he stops turns his head back to you and says "Now it's your turn"

The challenge of the Hanged Man is one of slow contemplation into action. He challenges you to look at things from many different angles and perspectives before you act. Adaptability and flexibility are his key words and look for solutions from odd places. He warns us not to be overly sensitive and to thicken our skin for our own good. Do not ignore the call to help others when it happens, do not hold on to beliefs and habits that no longer resonate within you and that you have outgrown. Do not discount what others say or do, you never know where inspiration will hit. Do not allow empty time to go unfilled, find an unusual activity or hobby and learn something new. Do Not lose patience some of the issues you face will be in the hands of others, let them move at their own pace in their own way.

Card: 6 of Wands, Success. (Sacred Circle) The six wands of this card have finished with battle; the fight has been won. There is always a struggle that precedes this card. There may even have been pain or confusion as a result of that struggle. But with this card, we can relax a little and finally start to enjoy the fruits of our labor. This is a good news card and indicates that, after a lot of hard work and difficulties, we are now beginning to achieve the success we dreamed of - one that is recognized by other people. (Be careful, because some of those people will want what we have!) It can indicate that despite the challenges we have been facing, we will overcome them and come out on top. Success is within reach! This card also points to literal or metaphorical movement; things are changing in a positive way. Spiritually, the six of wands can indicate getting in touch with deep joy and love of living. We are already on the right track. We should get in touch with the joy inside us and then share it.

Card of the Moment is the Seven of Pentacles. The time and energy that you've been putting into a project or relationship will pay off soon. However, it's not time to quit just yet -- keep pushing until everything is said and done!

Your personal power is growing and others are taking notice.

The card in the Self position reveals aspects of how you perceive yourself right now.

The Seven of Coins in this position indicates your efforts toward being a self-made person are finally being realized. This card represents the slow and steady application of energy, season after season. You have kept at it, and your dedication and focus are bearing fruit.

You can understand the magic of compound interest. Thinking like a farmer, you have patiently tended your crop, trusting time and letting natural law multiply your harvest. The results are no surprise to you, but other people are beginning to notice. Keep at it and you will be known as a gifted person who produces value rather than just another consumer.

The Empress, Reversed. (Hanson Roberts) "Overindulgence; enjoyment of sensual pleasure; a tendency to become domineering; barrenness." We are hiding our head in the sand and don't want to see things are changing ~ we are trying to hold onto what is already passing away. We are preventing our own growth ~ our creativity is blocked and our spirit is stagnating. If we are having domestic problems, we should look at our own behavior. If we find ourselves surrounded by difficult people, remember, the best approach is diplomacy. A side effect of all this is we could be feeling not so attractive today. We need to give it some thought and recheck our feelings! We have things to offer on every level - and we need to give ourselves credit. It's Friday, the day associated with Love; so let's get more in touch with the love and happiness that flows within us. Meditation will help. Pamper yourself; Love yourself. Pay particular attention to what the women in your life have to say and their thoughts on spirituality; seek out female authors if you're looking for inspiration. Feminine energy will benefit us today, regardless of our own gender. Feel love.

The Lovers is the seventh card in the Major Arcana, and is given the number six to indicate balance. It signifies the three realms of the mind: the conscious, the subconscious, and the superconscious, embodied in the male, female, and the androgynous angelic figure above them. The man and woman are naked, symbolizing their honesty with each other as well as their physical accessibility. They represent that which is revealed. The winged figure above is clothed in robes, indicating the unknown, or that which is yet to be revealed...a mystery. Combined, these three elements form a complete whole.

The Lovers card symbolizes relationships, and harmonious interaction - both within the self and without. Love is playing a crucial role in your life right now, and a decision may be weighing heavily on your mind. The angel is thought to be Raphael, bringing healing to the situation. This symbolizes a need to mend fences, or heal yourself from a relationship that cannot be salvaged. Look to your heart, and decide what it is you truly desire—what you need to make yourself whole.

    The Eight of Pentacles.

3 of Wands. (Mythic Tarot) "This card portrays Jason newly arrived at the city of Iolkos. At his feet kneels the usurper, King Pelias, black-haired and black-bearded, dressed in royal purple, and offering with apparent humility the golden crown which he has unlawfully stolen." Everything fell into place, just like it was predicted, and as if by magick. This card tells us we have come this far and we can celebrate the initial success of the original creative idea. It seems everything is going according to plan! We were in the right place at the right time for this project to be born. Even though the foundations have been well laid, we will now need to put in a lot of hard work and creative energy. Often new ideas emerge at this stage - things which at first we had not considered, but could cause delays, alterations, and more effort. So we shouldn't react to any heat of the moment, but instead step back and reconsider. This can be an exciting period when we will be stretched and challenged and will achieve more than we ever thought possible. Good foundations have been laid, enthusiasm is high, and there is a feeling of satisfaction and optimism about the future potential of the project. This card can indicate premonitions or other intuitions about what is to come. Welcome to the beginning! <;)

The Devil. (Tarot of Pagan Cats) "Making a choice, taking an action,or staying in a situation that is contrary to your best interest. Doing something that turns into something that you aren't meant to be." This card represents that deepest, darkest part of us that we rarely bring out into the light of day. Our fears, our prejudices, our hatreds, our secrets. Our bondage. It's a bondage that is metaphorical or internal. We should remember that when we are feeling restricted we nearly always hold the keys to our own freedom. We can't give up hope! No matter our situation, we always have options to choose from. Don't let others tell you that your options are limited. We may be feeling that we are not in control of our life; sometimes this happens as a result of our actions, but more often it is a result of our inaction. So, we need to take action, whatever steps we can to give ourselves the feeling, however small, of being in control. Even if we make the choice what to have for dinner. Baby steps are important! Keeping a postive attitude is very important right now. We should take a look at the people we surround ourselves with. Are they positive people, or negative, critical people that leave us depressed? Take note, then take action! Life is short, and attitudes are catching! Surround yourself with people you love and that love you, positive people that want you to succeed. Be happy, and spread your love.

9 of Rods (Hanson Roberts) "Already wounded, a worried man braces for the next salvo. This is the eye of the storm. The situation will worsen before it improves, but you are prepared." Take a deep breath and calm down! We can't let the things we are worried about overwhelm us. We should be strong, then nothing and no one will be able to drag us down!!! This guy looks like he has had it rough. He's bandaged, leaning on his rod and looking like he's expecting something bad to happen. He looks very defensive. It is natural to feel defensive at times, but we need to try to avoid becoming bitter. We may be feeling worried, anxious or burdened. We may not feel like disciplining ourselves now, but now is a time that discipline will help us meet our spiritual goals. We need to focus, plan and call ourselves to higher levels of spiritual study and commitment. We have the strength within us to get where we want to be!

7 of Cups, Reversed. (Sacred Circle) We should be making the choices that need to be made and moving toward concrete and important action. We can trust our gut; we've probably already realized that we have to start, and if we do so, we will thrive. We need to ground ourselves, and make the decision about what is important. It also seems we may have been relying on some false promises of others. If we sense something is wrong, it probably is! Our view of life is a bit of an illusion right now. We may have been experiencing worry, anxiety, and fear - feeling timid, insecure and defensive. Instead of taking a few quiet moments to reflect, we are using every waking hour to consume ourselves with the active pursuits of things which may or may not satisfy us. We need to stop and give ourselves some time and space to think carefully about where our best intentions lie. We have to see matters as they really are and replace our confusion with clear thinking. We could be in the process of recovering from some sort of spiritual trial. This is a time to take the actions we know in our heart and soul that we must take, whether that's forgiving ourselves, forgiving others, or meditation. The answers we seek are within us. We must find them and take action.

The Shaman, Reversed. (Sacred Circle) This card is telling us that we have not been paying attention to our inner self. This a reminder that we need to slow down and take some time to do that. In other cases though, we may be feeling isolated and lonely. It’s important to remember to connect with those we care about. Our own fear may be getting in the way of our personal growth and willingness to go within. We have to be careful of becoming so consumed with doing things our own way that we have passed up good advice from a wise person. We also have to be careful that we haven't been so wrapped up in finding out "the truth" about something when we might do better to just let it go and move forward with our lives. We should remember that as much as personal and private contemplation are important, fellowship with like-minded people is also important. We need to reach out sometimes....we will be glad that we did!

The Chariot. (Mythic Tarot) Here we meet the war-god Ares, who revels in fighting. Unlike the goddess Athene, who as a war-deity represents cool strategy and foresight, Ares is in love with the heat and glory of battle itself, and with the unleashing of his strength to challenge the foe. On an inner level, Ares, the driver of the Chariot, is an image of the aggressive instincts guided and directed by our will of consciousness. The horses are portrayals of the conflicting animal urges within ourselves, full of vitality yet unwilling to work in harmony. They must be handled with strength and firmness, yet not held down or broken, or we lose the power and potency to survive and make our way in life. This card shows conflict and struggle which can result in a stronger personality. Our own aggressive drives need to be faced with strength and containment. This card is a sign that we should move forward with whatever we have in mind (and in our hearts) and give it our best shot. We must remember, though, that we need to use both our intellect and our heart, in order to be truly successful. We can achieve our goal if we just keep trying! We should shut out what is keeping us from reaching our goals. To achieve anything we must somehow harness the extremes of opposites within us. It's time for us to gain control of the situation and act. Hard times like these will make us stronger.

10 of Swords (Tarot of Pagan Cats) "Surrender to unpleasant of unfortunate circumstances." The general feeling of this card is sadness and loss. We might be feeling betrayed, or confronted with a life-changing decision. It doesn't feel like the greatest card, but it is telling us that an inevitable ending is taking place, because it wasn't right for us. It really is better that it is over, however painful it was. Just let go and move on. Now, we need to look to what self-deceit or wishful thinking brought us to that place and learn to be more truthful with ourselves in the future. We should accept both the light and dark sides of ourselves. At times like this, it is necessary to be quiet and let things happen. There is little we can do about it but remember that when one door closes, another will open. But if we don't walk through and close that door, we can't enter the new one.

The High Priestess, Reversed. (Sacred Circle) We may be finding it difficult to “hear” what our intuition is telling us. If that’s the case, it’s a clear signal to quiet down, spend some time in meditation, and spend some time alone. The information we seek is there, we just have to trust ourselves and our instincts. When the High Priestess appears in reverse, it can be telling us that spirit has been sending us messages – both in our waking and sleeping life – which we may have overlooked. Consider any synchronicities or odd occurrences that have happened lately, or very vivid dreams that have stuck with you. What might they be telling us? We need to give ourselves some time and space to meditate and we may well find that we’ll understand the message.

    The King of Swords.
Imbues us with domain, persistence, wit and inner decision in each correct command or our own mistakes. We will be at the apex of our intellectual energy, conscious of our ability to control and trusting our decisions. However, there will be a biased arbitrariness that will provide situations of extreme coldness and intransigence. Be fair and humane!

The Underworld, reversed. (Sacred Circle) This card is a warning of someone (check to be sure it isn't ourselves!) willing to do anything to get their own way. Doesn't matter who gets hurt in the long run as long as we get there...Be aware of this person or be aware of becoming this person. This card reminds us that any situation that may seem to be trapping us is an illusion; we always have options, help is always available. This card is a hint to look deeper at a situation and not necessarily go with the surface appearance. Things may not be as bad as they seem. Life can change in a moments notice, and sometimes those changes can be positive. Our attitude and positive mindset is very important! We need to consider who we surround ourselves with - is it positive people, or critical, fault-finding people who complain? Take stock, then take action. Life is short, and attitudes are catching! No matter what it looks like on the surface, we are not trapped! Others cannot constrain our spirit, our soul, or our mind! We have to use the freedom that we have.

The tarot card I pulled today is DISOLVING INTO ONENESS, the 1 of cups from my Tarot of Transformation deck. “Ones sometimes represent the sense of wholeness and perfection, and in the 1 of Cups, we find this on the emotional plane. We use this card to reflect the state of consciousness related to being in utero. It represents the merged state where one’s needs are automatically met and one is completely nurtured. It is a state of rest and satisfaction. This oceanic state is graphically represented here by the confluence of womb and ocean. This initial state of contentment and unity may be disrupted by what has been called the “toxic womb.” This may be the result of physical influences on the fetus such as cigarettes, drugs, and alcohol, or the mother’s negativity. This disruption may lead to the psychological strategy referred to in Hakomi as “sensitive withdrawn,” where one does not fully inhabit the body or engage with others. The good news is that this deficit can be made up later.” Ok, I have to confess, there are times when I have been “sensitive and withdrawn”, and many of my clients struggle with this as well. In fact, I specialize in helping “sensitives” get into their body and learn to deal with this intense world we live in!

The Star. (Sacred Circle) Happy Imbolc to those that celebrate! The Star is the pale light in the darkness ~ hope. Those with hope will always do better than those without it; hope can sometimes seem to work miracles. This card brings a new beginning started by an experience that will bring us hope for the future, an inspiration that will give us courage and strength to go on. It could be that we will receive help from an unexpected source, or the support of good friends could renew our faith in human nature. We can rise from the ashes of our unhappy past as long as we have hope and faith in the future! We must keep our faith strong, and trust in our spiritual insight. We will experience moments of illumination and clear vision. We are transformed from the darkness into the light. This card doesn't represent an end to our problems or that everything will be happy ever after, but instead provides us a nightlight that guides us slightly in the dark. Hope can work miracles and give our minds enough power to manifest them. Hope has literally kept people alive; it is a powerful and mysterious thing. Today is the day to share our happiness and good energy - it will come back to us many times over! This is also a very spiritual card and a good day to reach out to others. Blessed Be!

6 of Wands, Reversed. (Sacred Circle) Fear is the great destroyer. It keeps us from moving forward. And trying to cover up our doubts only creates more fear and insecurity. When things are going wrong, we cannot allow that tension to build because it will produce the sense that we are being overwhelmed by our "enemy". This card indicates that despite all of our delays and challenges, things that we have been hoping for or working on may finally come through. Maybe someone might get promoted over us, or our projects are delayed, but it's not the end of the world. Now is a good time to take comfort from our home and family; it is time to appreciate the pleasure and happiness that comes from them. This is a victorious card, but we do need to be cautious about who we trust. There may be someone who appears to be a supporter, but really isn't. We should trust our instincts about people and we shouldn't hesitate to stand up for ourselves if it is necessary.

7 of Cups (Quick and Easy) This is a card about choices. We need to choose from the many things that are on our plate, and work through them, carefully. We could be deceiving ourselves about something. We may think we are achieving something, but we aren't. Not only are we lying to ourselves, but we may be treating our friends badly, breaking promises, or being unreliable. We may have simply committed ourselves to too many things to achieve any of them. We need to stop and take a look at our situation more realistically. A lot of opportunities are surrounding us, but we can't keep all our options open forever. We must make a decision based on careful consideration to make any of the possibilities a reality. With Mercury going retrograde Thursday, it is a time of confusion and disorganization. We need to narrow our focus, because we are probably trying to do too much and feeling overwhelmed. Remember, that we can control how much we take on. Work on things one by one, carefully. Ground and Center. We can visualize our most important dreams and goals being met. We can keep a positive attitude.

We may need to understand why some strong feelings have surfaced and how we should cope with them. He's all about action! We should act as he does; showing nurturing, affection, empathy, and trusting our intuition. He is also calling on us to show our loyalty and friendliness. We should let our inner strength and wisdom prevail today! Be calm and relaxed in all situations. Use diplomacy rather than force, reach out to help; be generous, gracious and loving. Justice. (Mythic Tarot) Here we meet Athena, goddess of Justice. Zeus' favorite child was a strategist, instead of a brute fighter. She balanced Ares' physical aggression and force with logic, diplomacy, and cleverness. The protection she offered always consisted of weapons which had to be used with intelligence, foresight and planning. She teaches us how to think clearly and make judgements impartially and with a balanced mind. All events and all people are connected; and this card shows a need for fairness, balance, and harmony. This includes in how we think about and treat ourselves. Balance is the theme, and working on keeping the proper perspective about life will help us to stay centered. Justice represents our understanding of that vision and understanding lies in accepting the responsibility for that life. Ask questions! Seek answers to the mysteries that are being revealed and show awareness of the process which is taking place and willingness to move forward.

The Magician. This Major Arcana Card indicates the power of manifestation. The Magician also represents the coming together of positive and negative energy. He creates and nourishes. Also he has the power to destroy as well as redeem. The Magicians real power is his intuition. Knowing what to do as well as how and when to do it. This Major Arcana Card reminds us that by just wishing for something will get you absolutely no where and nothing will change unless you take action. However once you decide you can change whatever it is you want to change, then you take that action and manifest that desired change." A desire to create is nothing without an ability to create, and vice-verse." The Magicians authentic power is that he knows what he must do, but he also knows how he must do it, and why he must do it. Then he does it. He reminds us that just wishing alone will not change anything, but a conscious decision can change everything. A desire to create is nothing without taking some much needed action for your desired outcome. As Rider Waite puts it " The message of the Magician is a simple one despite his limitless and infinitely complex power. Your life is under your control. Your life is what you want it to be. Your life is what you make it. " So simple and yet sometimes a challenge for some of us that just need to get out of our own way.

Queen of Wands. (Mythic Tarot) This card depicts Queen Penelope. Odysseus, her husband, embarked for the Trojan War with the other Greek princes. She was a bad ass woman that was left to tend to the island kingdom, and the only help she had was her young son, Telemachus. Of course, all the guys in the kingdom wanted to court her and take over that throne, believing Odysseus to be dead. And you know that they were conspiring to kill the son! But she listened to her intuition and her heart and believed her husband to still be alive. They continued to pressure her while hanging out in the palace, eating her food, drinking the wine, and making time with the staff. She told them she couldn't make a decision until after she had woven her father in law's death shroud. She worked on it for three years, weaving by day and unraveling her work at night, until they caught on to her. Odysseus returned home after ten years, reunited with his wife, and kicked the people out of his palace. This figure for the Queen of Wands is industrious, creative, versatile, strong-willed and talented. It is time for us to develop our qualities of warmth, loyalty and creative sustaining of a vision. The Queen teaches us that we can't let things get us down - trying to stay upbeat and cheerful helps - so does looking for the positive in situations. Shake off the blues! Be inspired by the Queen in whatever form she takes in our lives. Let your Spirit soar!

5 of Swords, Reversed. (Quick and Easy) We seem to be under stress, and coupled with Mercury Retrograde, it is no surprise! This card indicates that the problems and failures we are encountering are caused by our indecisiveness because we are afraid to act. We may have fallen into the habit of expecting bad things to happen, and they do! One of the most basic personal and spiritual lessons is that negativity attracts negativity. If we think positively, we can begin to change things. Only when we take responsibility for what happens to us, stop blaming others and other things for our failures, can we begin to make the new life we want. We should consider our priorities and the things that matter most to us, while being as pleasant to others as we can.

6 of Discs, Bounty. (Sacred Circle) Stop worrying! Things are going to get better, especially in money matters. This card tells us that we could benefit from someone else's generosity ~ whether it is money, an award or just some good advice. This could put us on firmer footing and restore our faith in ourselves. But we need to remember that when we have been helped by the generosity of another, then in turn we should be generous with our own time and advice when someone else needs it. Remember, what goes around, comes around.
