Summary:  In the Correllian Tradition, Wiccan philosophy, spirituality and the inner mysteries are the primary focus.  The thing that makes this tradition stand out is the stance that by increasing communication and gaining the co-operation of Pagans of all traditions, it will lead to Pagan advancement.  To achieve this end, they opened up a publically available witch school, which is accessible on the internet and is published in the form of 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree books.  The high Correll family who founded this tradition were influenced by their Cherokee Didanvwisgi, Scottish Traditional Witchcraft and Aradian heritage (Italian Witchcraft, AKA Stregeria) and by the Spiritualist Church.  While there is some debate as to whether or not to call this a Wiccan Tradition, the Correllians claim the right to do so because of Lady Orpheis’ Scottish Traditional Wicca and Aradian lineage.

On the Eve of the Epiphany (January 5th) children write letters to an old witch named Befana, listing the toys they want and stuff them in the chimney for her to find and a small glass of red wine and some soft breadcrumbs are left for her to snack on (her bad teeth can only tolerate soft foods).  Later that night, Befana mounts her broomstick and flies to all the children's homes through their chimneys, delivering presents to them by stuffing their hearth-hung stockings or filling their shoes by the door.  Naughty children receive a lump of coal.  For others, Befana stuffs stockings with fruits and nuts.

The day of Epiphany (January 6th; AKA Twelfth Night or Little Christmas) is celebrated by benedictions and purifying rites, processions and music fill the streets where Befana and her consort Befano (AKA Father Christmas) appear as masked figures as they pass from house to house, where Befana dolls have been placed in the windows in welcome.  When the procession is over, the Befano dolls are burned in effigy to rid the bad things from the previous year and welcome the coming good things from the new year.

Cenci ("rags", AKA Florentine Lover's Knots, Crostoli, Chiacchere "gossips", Frappe, lattughe "lettuce leaves" and nastrini "ribbons"), an Italian deep-fried ribbon shaped cookie dusted with powdered sugar, is served throughout the holiday.

The Feast of Epiphany, a Christian tradition in origin, is then held.  It is celebrated as the day when the three wise men (AKA the three kings or the three Magi), bearing gifts, follow a bright star to visit the newborn Jesus, making him known to the the world as the Christ-child.  There are various legends to explain why Befana, who was visited by the three wise men, missed meeting up with the Christ-child. In the Christian tradition, the feast follows the 12 days of Christmas (Dec 25-Jan 5) which observes the birth of Jesus, the visit of the three wise men and events up to Jesus's baptism.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries.

Vendertainers that brought many things to a show and are know for helping out where ever they can.

As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.

We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.

Specializing in Medieval, Goth , Stage Film, BDFSM and Practitioner.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.

Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"

A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?

After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...

Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
