Welcome everyone to the new website even though it’s actually the temporary site for TeslaCon 2.

I would like to thank everyone who attended our first convention in November 2010. TeslaCon was conceived and designed as a convention unlike any other event anyone has ever gone to and I think the response from our attendees can attest to that.

Throughout the weekend of TeslaCon 1 I experienced such different things than our guests. I saw so many things from a different perspective and in a different light and so many of you came up to me to tell me of your experiences and to thank me. It was a very humbling feeling to have so many members relate your stories and adventures to me during the weekend – and for that I thank you.

Some attendees also shared with me how this convention has kick-started their new foray into Steampunk fandom. Meeting new people and making friends is always a pleasure but I have never before, in the years I have run conventions, been met with such an outpouring of enthusiasm and support as I did last year.

At the Closing Ceremonies, when I asked the people if they would return, 99% of the audience stood up…and cheered!  As a convention planner and fan, this is the greatest showing of support I could ever have asked for and, again, I thank you.  The trust and support of the fandom itself means so much to me. TeslaCon was fun and, overall, it went well but we still need to make improvements.

TeslaCon 2 will also be a convention like you’ve never experienced before as well.  Since the week after TeslaCon 1 I have been planning our second convention and creating the essence of the weekend.  From the moment you walk into the lobby and see the décor, to the hall decorations and props, this will be an immersion unlike any other immersion and even better than TeslaCon 1!

As announced at TeslaCon 1, the theme this year is “20,000 Leagues Beneath the Aether.”  Our trip will begin onboard the HMS Trident, the newest underwater vehicle built by the Bobbins Dirigible and Balloon Corporation. A virtual submergible that will transport you, the attendees, across the globe with a stop in Egypt and then a diplomatic mission to a new underwater city. We will finish our underwater voyage by arriving in the exotic city of Peking in China.

To assist us on our voyage, our Guests of Honor will be people who will surely delight and make your weekend even more memorable.

Gail Carriger author of the The Parasol Protectorate. These books are comedies of manners set in Victorian London: full of vampires, dirigibles, and tea. They are Jane Austen doing urban fantasy meets PG Wodehouse doing steampunk.

George Mann is the author of The Affinity Bridge, The Osiris Ritual and Ghosts of Manhattan, Steampunk inspired mysteries as well as numerous short stories, novellas and an original Doctor Who audiobook. He has edited a number of anthologies including The Solaris Book of New Science Fiction, The Solaris Book of New Fantasy and a retrospective collection of Sexton Blake stores, Sexton Blake, Detective.

The convention will transport you into a Steampunk world where staff and ship’s crew will assist you during the weekend in full regalia. Courteous ship’s valets will deliver your luggage to your state room while my staff will make sure your weekend aboard the HMS Trident is full of panels, adventure and, of course, the fun you will only find at TeslaCon. Even the food to be served will be planned to fit our excursion and points of interest.

Because of what we do and how we do it, I limit the number of attendees in order to create the maximum effect for YOU. This year we will raise the number of attending members to 650 plus staff and, as of TeslaCon 1, we have 55 pre-registrations sold already.

We encourage everyone to sign up as soon as they can. Much of the work for the convention, the decorations and ambiance is done months ahead of time. This gives my team of artists and engineers a chance to create the very best atmosphere for the convention in a timely manner.

So, with that said, registration is now open.

Hotel booking of rooms may begin on February 1st. You will find your journey more pleasant by joining our forums and talking with other likeminded attendees.  Prepare and plan for the next great Steampunk adventure.  TeslaCon 2 is now underway.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries.

Vendertainers that brought many things to a show and are know for helping out where ever they can.

As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.

We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.

Specializing in Medieval, Goth , Stage Film, BDFSM and Practitioner.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.

Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"

A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?

After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...

Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
