1. What is this all about, anyway?
Steampunk Industrial Revolution is a convention taking place March 25-27, 2011 at the Holiday Inn in Nashua, NH.Steampunk Industrial Revolution. aims to bring together fans of steampunk from throughout New England to share in camaraderie. From maker to literary scholar, cosplayer to cabaret band, there is a place for everyone.

The Wandering Legion of the Thomas Tew and staff from Another Anime Convention are this convention’s primary organizers.

  2. Steampunk, what’s that?
The one thing that’s certain about steampunk is that it is rare that any two people will give the exact same answer. Some would consider it a reimagining of Victorian era science fiction combined with modern day knowledge. Others would say, perhaps, that steampunk is a vision into a world that could have been had history taken an alternate turn. Yet still are those who suggest that steampunk is simply a nostalgic.

The one thing that can be agreed upon is that steampunk is about art, passion, and imagination. A trend that started in literature and science fiction several decades ago has blossomed into a sub-culture that is continuingly evolving and expanding.

While the Wikipedia entry on steampunk offers some insight to the beginnings, a google image search gives greater insight to the present.

  3. Do I need to show up with a top hat and a monocle, or can I come in a t-shirt and jeans?
Either is just fine. Steampunk has richer and deeper roots than a simple clothing choice. Simply coming with a curious mind and an active imagination is more than enough.

That being said, should your “inner-steampunk” wish to surface, you will most likely be able to purchase a variety of steampunk accessories and clothing at the convention itself.

  4. How old are most of the people who will be there? Am I too old or too young to attend?
    Steampunk spans all ages.

You can never be too old or too young to dream!

  5. Does this cost money?
Steampunk Industrial Revolution will cost $40 at the door to attend all three days. If you pre-register you can attend all three days for just $35.

    Pre-Registration Rates (Through March 1st)
    3-Day: $35

  6. My outfit has large and elaborate props, will I be allowed to bring those?
Props and mock weaponry will be allowed.

We are currently drafting guidelines to determine what will and will not be acceptable.

  7. What kind of events can I look forward to?
We hope to have panels, workshops, bands, sideshows, dances, readings, discussions, competitions, artists & merchants, a formal tea, and perhaps a play or two.

Would you like to make one or more of these things happen, or is there something you think we should have? Send an email over to programming@steamrevolution.com.

  8. I am an artist/crafter/maker and would love to be able to show off and sell my work at Steampunk Industrial Revolution, do you have a place for that?

If you have not already been in touch with our vendor coordinator, the formal vendor application is available here.

It is a PDF that you can type directly into, then either save and e-mail back or snail mail to the PO Box at the bottom. If you are e-mailing it back, do not worry about the signature section at the bottom. We will have you sign it later.

Note that we will not be assigning vendor space on a first-come, first-served basis. We will be reviewing your product line and references to select the most compatible product lines for our convention. Please be sure to include a website with pictures or something similar.

All decisions will be made by February 11th, 2011. Please make sure to get your application in by noon on that day. If you have any questions, please feel free to drop TJ a line at vendors@steamrevolution.com.

  9. I am interested in performing at Steampunk Industrial Revolution, or I know someone who’d be perfect, who do I contact?
Please send performance inquiries to performers@steamrevolution.com.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries.

Vendertainers that brought many things to a show and are know for helping out where ever they can.

As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.

We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.

Specializing in Medieval, Goth , Stage Film, BDFSM and Practitioner.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.

Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"

A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?

After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...

Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
