Mentoring
A mentor is defined as “an experienced and trusted advisor”.
The best way to start your journey into alpaca ownership is to purchase your first alpacas from a farm that is willing to be your mentor farm. Not all farms are qualified or even willing to be a mentor farm.
A mentor farm answers your questions, teaches you hands on care, and helps you succeed in the alpaca business. A mentor farm’s job is to educate you in all aspects of the alpaca business.
The most important choice you make is which farm you buy your first alpacas from. By default, this farm will become your mentor farm. Choosing your mentor farm is so important because you are choosing your “experienced and trusted advisor”.
We WANT to be YOUR mentor farm!
The best way to discover a farm’s reputation as an “experienced and trusted advisor” is to ask for references and talk to their clients. We WANT you to call our clients and ask them about us! We’ll even provide you with a list of our references and their contact information.
Mada Vemi Alpacas is committed to helping new farms learn about caring for their alpacas, showing their alpacas, and working with alpaca fiber. This commitment to new and small farms has led us to develop our Show Buddies Program and fiber arts classes!
We enjoy sharing our experience with our clients and we love helping new farms succeed. By choosing Mada Vemi Alpacas as your mentor farm you are choosing the opportunity to learn from our experience. You are choosing “an experienced and trusted advisor” who wants to help you succeed. Contact us anytime to discuss how we can help you succeed.

Show Buddies Program
We've been running a Show Buddies Program for the last two years and we do about 10-15 shows per year. This is a great opportunity to get your name out there, get your animals some ribbons, and get some feedback on your breeding program.
Why do we do this? The Show Buddies Program started out of necessity because we only had one alpaca worthy of taking to the shows and we needed a buddy to go with him to the shows. The concept grew quickly because many farms only have one animal to show, can't get off work to go to the shows, don't want to show, or are too far from most shows.
When an alpaca enters the ring it's important that it is set up squarely for the judge to view it to gain the best possible first impression. Experienced handlers can make a huge difference in winning a ribbon.
Veronica does it again - clean sweep!
Pricing and Terms
We charge $200 per animal per show. The owner is responsible for the cost of pen space, halter fee, and other show expenses but we try to split pen space fees up by the number of animals attending if possible. This Show Buddies fee includes filling out show paperwork, displaying your business cards, hanging your banner, talking to people about your animal, and it includes their care while they stay at our farm during the show season. Any vet expenses are the owner's responsibility.
Additional Details
The Show Buddies Program is designed to reduce stress on the animals. All the Show Buddies live together, eat the same food, drink the same water, and get to know each other prior to going to the first show. The Show Buddies live together, show together and stay quarrantined together from the beginning of the show season until the end. They are a "herd" and therefore tend to be less stressed since they do everything together as a herd.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.
Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries.
Vendertainers that brought many things to a show and are know for helping out where ever they can.
As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.
We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.
Specializing in Medieval, Goth , Stage Film, BDFSM and Practitioner.
Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.
Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"
A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?
After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...
Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
