To who this may concern-

Our standard indoor set up is either three 8' tables or four 6’ depending on what tables are used for the convention, with a optional 10' long costuming rack.  We offer a prop display from Renegade Effects and Dragon Dronet for conventions, which most conventions trades display for selling space. This company represents as well over 100 artisans & crafters across the United States.  There are those who make one or two items a year to many who do steady production year round. Not only props. makeup. costuming, movie and stage venue. We specialize in medieval reenactment.  Some of movies you can see their handy work in are Planet of the Apes, Scorpion King, Serenity, Riddick. In TV Star Trek in various series and movies, Bab 5, Outer Limits, and on the History Channel in their Alien program. Also they did the armor for Ever Quest online games. We normally use one & a half 8' tables covered with props including the video tapes & DVD that we bring & play. Which show the behind the camera of the props being made and the short fan films that they do. Along with commercials and music videos that the have done things for or are in as well. The video tapes have scenes of the prop shop, live steel fighting, CGI studio shorts & parts from some of the movies & games that various work has been in.  One of us stays with the display to answer any questions asked by the public.  Unlike many of the other displays that may be or have been at most of  the conventions most of the props can be touched & held.  This gives the public a true hands on experience they usually don't find. Most of the conventions we have dealt with invited us and considered this an attraction to the event & in return for the display trade us space, and even bring us in as guests or as advance advertising for bring those we represent, to be brought in as guests in the following years.  Of the space used at least half will be used for the display while we sell off the other half to help defray the cost of expenses brining the display and video to your convention. Most of the Props can be seen on the web site under the Beyond Special section.

We sell leather, mail, armor types from battle ready to fantasy wear, jewelry, costuming & many other items specializing in medieval to gothic venues. Most of the items we carry are handmade and a few mass produced items, imports, to fill in where we need.

If you have any questions please call us at the 800-516-0497 number leaving your name, short message, best day, time & phone number for us to reach you at.  We prefer that you ask questions as you have them.  This way neither of us are waiting until it's to late to ask questions.  We encourage questions not only from you, but the public as well.  We like to satisfy peoples' curiosity.  Here are some of our questions for you.  How big is the space behind the tables?  How many guests do you normally have?  How many years  has this event been going on? What is the annual attendance?  Do you have corner spaces?

When we go from event to event we'd like to tailor our merchandise to the show's venue.  Is there  a certain type of merchandise that you would like at the event?  We have found that with in a show it is not good to have too many displays with the same basic line of items.  i.e. Four people with the same items when there is only a total of twenty.  We do try to tailor our merchandise to your show's venue & the requests of our patrons.  This is one of the many reasons why we represent some of the best artisans we can find. Remember that we make the items we sell. Not shrink wrapped mass produced as many others who buy the resell their items.

We do carry a wide selection of items, these items fall into one of these categories.

Hall of Steel - This is the weapons department.  We currently have fencing , schlager , fencing daggers, a stage/film combat sword and several hand  forged knives and daggers of different styles.

Trinkets & Beads - This is the jewelry department.  We mainly hand made items with a few import items {less than 5%} to help supplement the weak spots.  We carry a wide range of items necklaces, pendants, rings, pins, rosaries,  panannulars, cloak clasps and hand made glass beads.

Castle Life - This department has items that are used to decorate the home or tent as it may be.  This department will also have items that one may find useful to create an atmosphere.  Music cds, tents, forks, spoons, decorative wood plaques, iron work, pottery, etc.  Items for alternative lifestyles are in this department as well.

Cut of Style - This is the clothing department.  We have most of the basics; drawstring pants, skirts , chemises, bodices & shirts.  We also have dresses, kimonos and Haori.

Leather & Link - This is the Department where leather, maille & chain items are found.  For leather we have both ring and buckle belts, pouches, hair tie covers, floggers & notebook covers for starters.  For maille & chain items there are bracelets, necklaces, rings, female tops & key chains.

If you didn’t know the difference between maille & chain here it is - maille is a sheet of knitted links while chain is a length of knitted links.  We carry stock metal items in brass, bronze, copper, mild steel, stainless steel, galvanized steel and aluminum.  We also carry items made with anodized aluminum, enameled copper, sterling silver and 10kt jewelers gold.  The links themselves are oval, twisted square wire and standard round.

Armor Division - This is the armor department.  Currently we have a maille coif, some smaller mailler shirts and some basic armor in stainless steel.

Beyond Special - This is where film prop or stage prop related items are found.  We have everything from items of movie sets to simple theater props.  Drago has worked in this venue off and on for many years.  We also represent Renegade Effects, which can be hired to come and perform armored combat at events. As well as props, makeup & costumes, and many other items.

We offer a mailing from the data base we have complied through the years of venders, artist, crafters, performers, and others who go or support events.  As well as places that have been used by us in the area of the events.  The data base mailings are done in a ripple pattern.  The first ripple are addresses for the state that your event is in.  The second ripple are addresses to the states, which directly border the event state.  The last will be address to the states that border those in the second mailing.  We also will provide, depending on our schedule upon request, a mailing based in the area codes usually within a 150 mile radius of the event site.  The area code listing is usually sent out 45 days before the opening of the show.  This regional mailing serves as a reminder that the fair will be opening soon, sometime events send discount tickets as well. We hand write the address on the envelopes we send to you because most people pay attention to a hand written envelope before others.  We put our return address on it to ensure we keep our data base current and correct.  All you have to do is place the flyer/letter into the envelopes, stamp them and send them out.

Other services we offer include distributing flyers to the public.

Usually we ask for 500-1000 flyers to start with.  We will call when we need more flyers.  Or you can send some each month to us.  The public is exposed to the flyers at every event we go to. We spend from January into November doing shows/events, that makes for a lot of people who could pick up the event flyer.

We apologize for any lateness of our contact, but it is hard to contact the correct person when their information is not listed by public flyer for the event.  Nor is it any easier when the only way to find the correct information is through the internet or when something is finally mailed to you.  The internet has helped in many ways, but many people have been cut out of the "informational service" because the promoters for events are also no longer doing a large mailing outside their main target area.  Some events don't have contact information (name in charge of, address, phone number & other points of contact) on either the flyer or the web site.  Perhaps in the future more information will be listed on a public flyer.

Waiting for your response,

Allen Drago and the Lady Isabell Demona

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries.

Vendertainers that brought many things to a show and are know for helping out where ever they can.

As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.

We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.

Specializing in Medieval, Goth , Stage Film, BDFSM and Practitioner.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.

Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"

A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?

After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...

Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
