Write a good check. CHECKS ARE MADE OUT TO:EDWARD A.WESTLEIGH, ULC-HOCR. THIS REQUIRES A FINGER PRINT, FULL NAME, CURRENT ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER , AND DRIVER/STATE/MILITARY ID # AND E-MAIL IF AVAILABLE The bank also now requires a finger pint as well placed to the left of your signature, on the check
The current fee for a bad check is $50.00. After being notified by our bank that a check is not cashable, the bank will not redeposit the check. This is the bank's policy. It is impossible because of this to redeposit any check. Any and all fees that occur because of your check will be passed on to you. i.e., bank fee of $27.50 per item, if this causes the account to be over drawn it occurs a $5 charge each day it remains so because of you. Each phone call made to you about the check will cost you $3.00. This does include messages left with any answering machine, message service, or person. If we do not receive a postal money order or a cashiers check from you within seven (7) days after the first phone call made to you a letter will be sent to your address. Each letter that is sent out to you will cost $12.00. You will have to sign for the letter.
If payment is not received within fourteen (14) mailing days after the date you received the letter, we can by law take further actions towards having the issue of the bad check resolved by contacting the proper authorities. This is not an action that we like taking. Yes, the law can be brought in but that only proves money owed, we are still the ones who get to collect it. This in turn messes up our schedule & the bank account. Please do no force us to go to this extent.
Your name & any others that may be listed on a joint account will be added to a listing on bad checks for traveling merchants. If this check does not work. Any merchant can obtain the listing by asking in writing for a copy. The only way to be removed from the listing is to have ten (10) other traveling merchants accept your check & have no problems with cashing it. Just send us a copy of the cashed checks along with the business cards of the ten (10) traveling merchants.
You are now required to sign & date this policy so that there is no question to the fact that you have read & fully understand the check policy. Our policy on checks had to change after the influx of bad checks in only two months in the year of 2004. There have been many who have said to our faces "You won't have a problem with my check." Then to find out later that their check is the one that can not be cashed. As it has always been in history the mistakes of the few will be the punishment for the many. This new policy went into effect 9/01/01 & will remain in effect until for one year from that date. And the starting effective date will change upon receiving any bad payments to the date the last bad payment was received upon, June 17, 2006.
We apologize for having to enforce a stricter policy on checks. Our only other option was to no longer accept checks at all. Thus cutting out a portion of the customers who do not use credit cards &/or do not like to carry large amounts of cash on their person. Please understand that is does cost us time & money to deal with each bad check that we receive. We are no longer being nice on our check policy. Think before you write a check to us.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.
Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries.
Vendertainers that brought many things to a show and are know for helping out where ever they can.
As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.
We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.
Specializing in Medieval, Goth , Stage Film, BDFSM and Practitioner.
Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.
Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"
A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?
After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...
Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
