AIR SPIRITS
SPRITES

These are the faeries that most mortals think of when they think of faeries. They are small, perfectly formed and anthropomorphic. These faeries are rarely seen in the mortal world, only the rings that are left behind after one of their night dances can be seen, for these faeries are amongst the most shy of all the fey. They are not very intellegent creatures, however, they are drawn to light, and are incapable of complex conversation, if any at all. They do not form relationships with other sprites, they only come together for mating, which more often than not, takes place during one of their night dances.

WINGED FAERIES

These faeries are normal size faeries, but with huge, gossamer wings, in a rainbow of colours. These creatures are the most fantastical inhabitants of faerie, with hair and skin in a rainbow of different colours, purple, blue, pinks and oranges, always vibrant colours. They resemble a larger version of a sprite, but are as intellegent as any faerie, and more lascivious. It is unlikely that any winged faerie is of pure blood, and even more unlikely is any of these faeries are aware of their parentage. They are very sensualist and self-centred.

SPHINXES

These faeries have the head of a woman, the body of a lion and the wings of a bird. They are always female. Listed in mortal legends as being monsters, the most famours Sphinx was the one that plagued Thebes, and asked her famous riddle to anyone who passed by: "There is on the earth a two footed, four footed three footed thing with a single name; and alone of all creatures that travel on land or in the air or sea, it changes its form. But when it goes on most feet, then the speed of its limbs is weakest." The answer was of course, man, who starts off on four feet as a baby, has two as an adult and three as an old man. Everyone who got it wrong, she ate. Oedpius gave the answer correctly and became king of thebes, while the poor sphinx killed herself falling frm the citadel. But this sphinx, like all sphinxes, knew the future, she knew that Oedipus would end up like the creature in her riddle, using a walkstick as his third leg after blinding himself. To the Greeks, Sphinxes were keeper of secrets, but to the Egyptians they were an eblem of the spirtual power of the Pharaoh.

Sphinxes are intellengent creatures and gifted with the gift of prophecy and foresight. They speak in riddles so that no mortal will learn the truth of their own future, a source of amusment to any sphinx. they do not bother with other faeries very often, as faeries past, present and future is more or less the same. it has been nearly fifty years since any faerie saw a sphinx leave the mountain home

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries.

Vendertainers that brought many things to a show and are know for helping out where ever they can.

As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.

We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.

Specializing in Medieval, Goth , Stage Film, BDFSM and Practitioner.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.

Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"

A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?

After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...

Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
