After Tiamat was slain, the rivers Tigris and Euphrates were said to have flown from Her eyes. Is this the Goddess crying? It is as though She is in great pain... Oh yeah, that's right, She was killed by Merodach (Marduk). She was also split in half to create Above and Below, and many other horrible things, as I have just learned:

From two ribs of Tiamat, Marduk creates east and west, and with her liver, he creates the pole star. He also creates the sun and moon and organizes their daily and monthly cycles. From Tiamat’s spittle, he forms clouds, rain, and fog. Heaping a mountain over Tiamat’s head, he pierces her eyes, from which spring the sources for the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. (In Akkadian, inu means both "eyes" and "springs.") In a similar way, he heaps mountains over her udder, piercing it "to make the rivers from the eastern mountains which flow into the Tigris. Her tail he bent up to the sky to make the Milky Way, and her crotch he used to support the sky" (Jacobsen 179).

Tiamat was betrayed by Her own children, who rebelled against Her, and even Her love, Kingu was slain to create humankind. When I first read Enuma Elish, the story of creation, and learned of the fate of Tiamat, I did not feel any admiration for Marduk at all, as the Babylonians would have. I was very saddened, and I wasn't even a Pagan at the time, but christian. I soon understood that the rivers Tigris and Euphrates was an emanation of the pain, suffering, and sorrow of Tiamat. All Tiamat needs is love, and that love was broken by the Anunnaki.

This realization greatly burdened my heart, and it still does, of course. What a cruel fate Ummu must experience, to not be allowed to rest, be replaced in the hearts of Her children, be slain, Her love as well, and to be despised through out the ages by the remnants of Kingu, who have forgotten Tiamat.

In the beginning, as I have said so many times in the past, Ummu Tiamat was slain by the demon Merodach (creating Above and Below), and Kingu was slain also, where his blood and bone was used to create humans.

Kingu was the male son and consort of Tiamat, so if humankind are his remnants, does that make the male half of humanity more special to Goddess Hubur than the female half? No, for in this male lies a masculine and feminine side.

Knigu's blood and bone, both where used to create humanity, so let's take a closer look at this great mystery. Tiamat's own blood flowed through Kingu's body, so it was not just his own blood. With Tiamat's blood, Kingu's body, along with bones, was able to develop independently. In my view concerning the creation of humankind, Kingu's bones made man, while his blood made women.

Tiamat is a woman, and Her blood flowed through Kingu, so it makes sense that women were formed from Kingu's blood, which originated from Ummu Hubur Tiamat. If women are the blood of Kingu, then man must be his bones, but not just his bones. Kingu's whole body in which blood ran through were used to create humanity.

On the note that women are the blood of Kingu, women are in a very high level of holiness, for Kingu's blood was that of Tiamat's, therefore, women are the Life of the Goddess Herself. As for any men reading this, sorry that I count women so much higher than us males, but whatever is feminine is of the Goddess. Whatever is masculine, however, is still loved by the Goddess, though is not held in as much esteem as women.

So in conclusion, Kingu is the male son and consort of the Goddess, whose blood is Her own, his body his own. He is both masculine and feminine, and when he was slain, that unity was broken, where both halves became man and woman. Man is Kingu's body, and Woman is his blood. Man his masculine side and Woman his feminine side. Humanity is a single male being, but despite the gender, remains half feminine and of the Goddess.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries.

Vendertainers that brought many things to a show and are know for helping out where ever they can.

As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.

We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.

Specializing in Medieval, Goth , Stage Film, BDFSM and Practitioner.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.

Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"

A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?

After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...

Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
