Nyx (Greek)
Very little is known of Nyx. In Greek mythology Nyx was the goddess of the night. Later as Nyx was incorporated into Roman mythology she became known as "Nox"
One of the first born elemental gods, Nyx was the daughter of Chaos, sister of Gaia and sister/wife to Erebos, God of darkness. Her offspring are many, and telling, including Momus (blame), Moros (doom), Thanatos (death), Hypnos (sleep), Charon (the ferryman of Hades). Nyx was the personification of Night, dark with mysterious powers it was said even Zeus feared her.
Nyx had prophetic powers, and gave oracles from a cave. Goddess of the night, she was also psychic, manipulating thoughts, bringer of truth. It was said she was older and more powerful than Zeus, who deferred to Her wishes. Nyx resided in Tartarus, in the depths of Hades' Underworld which Nyx shared with her daughter Hemera, the Goddess of the Day, though the two of them only met on passing during the transition from day to night. Her appearances in mythology are sparse, but reveal her as a figure of exceptional power and beauty.
She was often depicted as having wings and wearing a long black flowing dress and veil covered in blinking stars. She turns day into night by spreading her veil out over the sky and enveloping the earth as she rides through the sky in a chariot.
Nyx is a good Goddess to call forth when you need to reach your original true essence and awareness.

LORD THOTH
The Greek Hermes derives many of his attributes directly from an Egyptian figure. This figure is most frequently represented as an Ibis-headed figure. A popular name used for this figure is the Greek word Thoth. But Wallis Budge tells us that the name most commonly used by the ancient Egyptians was a name like Hob.
Best reference is The Gods of the Egyptians, Wallis Budge, Vol 1, p400-415. Budge writes: The commonest name given to Thoth is h*b, ibis... In Ancient Egyptian a word like Hob actually means "messenger". It is the name most commonly given to the Messenger of God
Ra.
There are no recorded vowels in Ancient Egyptian, so the name may have been pronounced either Hab, Heb, Hib or Hob. The ibis God is now normally known by the Greek word Thoth. The word Hob happens to be a medieval English name for the Devil, although there is no direct connection with the ancient Egyptian name.
Attributes of The Ibis-Headed God: Continuing in The Gods of the Egyptians, Wallis Budge, Vol 1, p400-415. Budge writes: ... From one aspect he was speech itself... In every legend in which Lord Thoth takes a prominent part we see it is he who speaks the word that results in the wishes of God Ra being carried into effect.

EREBOS (or Erebus) was the Protogenos (primeval god) of darkness, consort of Nyx (Night), whose dark mists enveloped the edges of the world, and filled the deep hollows of the earth. His wife Nyx drew these mists across the heavens to bring night to the world, while his daughter Hemera scattered them bringing day : one blocking out the light of Aither (shining, blue heaven) and the other revealing it. The bright upper air (aither) was regarded as the source of day in the ancient cosmogonies rather than the sun.
The name Erebos was also used for the dismal, netherworld realm of Haides.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.
Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"
A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?
After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...
Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
