Hecate is constantly getting a bad rap! LOL

Being associated with the Dark Moon has become some sort of 'evil' or just plain 'mean' position.

While I do believe no magickal workings should be done during the Dark Moon, I do feel there are other magickal things that we can do to advance ourselves. One of these things is to improve our connection with our Moon deities.

When I think of Hecate, the first thing that comes to mind is the impression (not a picture but more a feeling) of a wise crone. Now, I guess if you are always misbehaving and still in need of a switch once in a while, then Hecate may not be the Goddess for you! Because she is likely to give you exactly what you need!

On the other hand...if you are truly desirous of improvement and the acquiring of knowledge...I suggest you get acquainted with her. I spend time with Hecate every Dark Moon and I feel that our relationship is a two-way street. She is ever-so-ready to impart knowledge if, and when, I am prepared to accept it, without question. This is known in the spirit!

I honor, appreciate her, and show my respect every November 30th (the night of Hecate) with a ritual that I have described in another discussion.

For those of you who are interested in a relationship with Lady Hecate, I suggest you seriously meditate on the idea and by no means jump into it!

Here are some correspondences to get you acquainted:

Dark Moon

a key

a rope

 a dagger or athame

colors: black, silver

time: midnight

stones: jet, black onyx, black obsidian

herbs: belladonna/nightshade, garlic, mints, mandrake, sandalwood, cypress, myrrh, patchouli, hemlock, wolfbane, azalea, lavender, monkshood, dandelion

trees: almond, willow

3-way crossroads (T-intersection!)

offerings: honey, mushrooms

Hecterion ( a type of pillar)

black dog

When you do a ritual for/with Hecate you must be able to walk away, when finished, without looking back. To look back is to doubt, and she will have none of that. Hecate is a seriously powerful Goddess and a relationship with her is not to be taken lightly. I don't say this to frighten anyone, nor to make her seem tempting in any way. I am simply stating the facts.

Hecate stands at the crossroads of our lives and is there to offer wisdom and aid in making decisions.

Hecate greets us at the gates of death and guides us to Summerland (the afterlife).

Hecate holds the key to knowledge.

Hecate also holds the athame (or dagger) that cuts the ties to spirit-world as we enter this incarnation.

Hecate also uses her dagger (or athame) to cut ties to this world as we leave this incarnation.

That is correct...she escorts us into and from this world.

Here are some words I use to begin communication with Lady Hecate...

Hecate, beautiful Crone of Night

I call you here to put things right.

Transform the negative thought and pain

and help my life be whole again.

Are you beginning to feel an attachment to her? LOL

I have been making an oil which corresponds to Lady Hecate for years and I am thinking of marketing it in 2011!

If you have read this far then maybe you are ready for this intense relationship. I caution you...do not enter into this relationship half-heartedly.

Please share any information or personal experience you have so that we all may advance!   Shiro

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries.

Vendertainers that brought many things to a show and are know for helping out where ever they can.

As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.

We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.

Specializing in Medieval, Goth , Stage Film, BDFSM and Practitioner.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.

Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"

A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?

After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...

Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
