Earth - Represents north, midnight and winter
Colors - Green or brown
Qualities - Stability, common sense, roundedness, practical abilities, caretaker of the Earth, protectiveness, upholder of tradition, love of beauty, patience and perserverance, generosity, acceptance of others, nurturing powers.
Rules over - Abundance and prosperity, fertility, finance, law and order, institutions, authority, motherhood, the physical body, food, home and family, animals, the land, agriculture, horticulture and envirnomentalism, womb and tomb.
Celtic Deities - The cailleach are the old crone goddesses of winter who can shape shift into many forms, including trees, hares, cats, standing stones and lovely maidens; they care for the animals in winter and cast down snow to allow the land to rest and be restored. Also the Earth Father Cernunnos/Herne the Hunter, Lord of the Hunt and the Herds and sacrificial God of Winter
Crystals - Agates, emerald, jet, obsidian, rose quartz, rutilated quartz, tiger's eye
Places - Megaliths, stone circles, groves, forests, homes, temples, the crypts of churches and cathedrals that are built over sacred Druidic places, cromlechs, ley lines, caves.
Power Animals-/birds - Bear, bull, serpent, snake
Substances and materials - Salt herbs, flowers, trees, coins, bread, corn and wheat, nuts, clay, grass, soil, sand, berries, potpourri, cauldrons, dishes

Air - Represents the east, dawn and spring.
Colors - Yellow and gray
Qualities - Logic, clear focus, an inquiring and analytical mind, the ability to communicate clearly, concentration, versatility, adaptability, quest for truth, commercial technological acumen, healing powers through channeling higher energies.
Rules over - New beginnings, change, health and healing, teaching, travel, house or career moves, knowledge, examinations, the media, science, ideas, ideals, money-spinning.
Celtic Deities - Arianhod, the Welsh Goddess of magical inspiration, the Sky, and the Full Moon, and keeper of the constantly circling Silver Wheel of Stars. Also Taranis, the Thunder God who turns the Wheel of Fate and enables change to occur; he is often pictured rising from a tree
Crystals - Amethyst, clear crystal quartz, citrine, diamond, lapis lazuli, sodalite, sugilite, sapphire
Places - Mountaintops, hills, towers, steeples and spires of churches and cathedrals, the sky, pyramids, open plains, tall buildings, balconies, roof gardens
Power animals/birds - Eagle, Hawk, bird of prey, white dove
Subtances and materials - Four winds, clouds, balloons, kites, swords, knives, feathers, air-borne seeds and spores, incense, smudge sticks, smoke, mist, oils, storms, boats with sails billowing in the wind, weather vanes.

Fire - Represents the south, noon and summer.
Colors - Red, orange or gold
Qualities - Fertility in all aspects of life, creativity, bringing light, power, passion, joy, initiating, transformation, courage.
Rules over - Ambition, achievement, illumination, inspiration, all creative and artistic ventures, poetry, art, sculpture, writing, music, dance, religion and spirituality,psychic powers, especially higher ones such as channeling, innovation, sexuality. It is also potent for destruction of what is now no longer needed, for binding, and for banishing rituals and therefore for protection.
Celtic Deities - The triple Goddess Brighid is a goddess of Fire and the Sun. She is said in Irish folklore to hand her cloak on the Sun's rays' she is also goddess of the Hearth and patroness of all smiths as well of healing and poetry. Bel or Belenus is the Shining One, God of Fire who gives his name to the cleansing Beltaine fires at the beginning of May: he was a focus also for the balefires at Samhain at Halloween, when light gave way to darkness.
Crystals - Amber, bloodstone, boji stones, carnelian, garnet, lava, iron pyrites, ruby, topaz, turquoise
Places - Hearths, bonfires, deserts, volcanoes, scared fire festival fires, hilltop beacons, all conflagrations, solar eclipses
Power animals/birds - Stag, lion, dragon, ram and the legendary golden phoenix, symbol of transformation and rebirth - the phoenix burned itself on a funeral pyre every five hundred years, and a young phoenix rose golden from the ashes.
Substances and materials - Candles, beeswax, flames, ash, fiber-optic lamps, the Sun, lightning, wands, spears and lances, fire, torches, Jack o'lanterns, clear crystal spheres, mirrors, suncatchers, sunflowers and all other golden flowers.

Water - Represents the west, dusk and autumn
Colors - Blue and Silver
Qualities - Empathy, inner harmony, peacemaker, unconscious wisdom, ability to merge and interconnect with nature, the cycles of the seasons, the life cycle
Rules over - Love, relationships, friendship, dreams, purification rites, healing using the powers of nature, especially crystals and sacred water, scrying (seeking images in water), divination, all water and sea magic, Moon magic, travel by sea
Celtic Deities - Cerridwen, Goddess of Druidic initiation who brews in her cauldron the elixir of inspiration and rebirth. Mannanann or Manannan mac Lir, Manx God of the Sea who could create storms or bring down mist to protect his people. He is especially associated with island and headlands as land meets sea; as a great magician he is also linked with the Other World Isles of the Blest, especially Arran and the Isle of Man
Crystals - Aquamarine, calcite, coral, jade, moonstone, fluorite, pearl, opal, tourmaline
Places - The ocean, rivers, lakes, pools, sacred wells and streams, marshland, flood plains
Power animals/birds - Frog, dolphin, otter and beaver, all fish especially the salmon
Symbols and substances - Milk, water, blood, seashells, kelp, wine, cups, chalices.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.

Vendertainers that brought many things to a show and are know for helping out where ever they can.

As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.

We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.

Specializing in Medieval, Goth , Stage Film, BDFSM and Practitioner.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.

Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"

A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?

After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...

Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
