Here is what we know so far...Sandy has been going through chemo and just finished about two weeks ago. While I was taking her to an appointment for Social Security she lost her balance and fell. She was holding onto my arm for support and fell on her butt. She did not hit her head. I took her to her cancer doctor and he scheduled an appointment for an MRI (brain scan) this coming Monday because she was having problems conjuring sentences, she had slurred speech as well as her equilibrium was off. I have been putting her in a wheel chair to get her places. The appointment they made was a whole week after the problems started. She was getting a little worse each day and finally yesterday she got so bad I could not understand her at all. I rushed her to the emergency room where they did an MRI and found several places in her brain that had swollen. She is now in Cleveland University Hospital. They did another scan and one theory is that her cancer may have moved to her brain...As of now this is just a theory and we are all hoping it is wrong! Please pray for her. She has been through so much this last year she could use all the support she can get!

This week, after coming back home from the hospital, Sandy's doctor informed her that she is now at stage 4. They are going to try one last chemo bombardment but the cancer has spread to other organs in her body. They don't hold much hope, Sandy on the other hand is in good spirits and says miracles happen everyday!

I am trying to stay strong to keep her in good spirits it is just getting harder to do. Social security cut a bunch of money out of her check saying that I am supporting her. How can I support her if I have no money coming in? And now they are cutting our assistance down so we have to pay more out of pocket for food, electric and gas, all because of her SSI. I swear the system is designed to keep people from getting ahead of things. Luckily I haven't found a job yet so I can care for Her and get her to appointments. Of course that does not help me catch up on the 10 months I am behind on house payments!

Rant over....for now!

Sandy will be going through at least 10 more days of radiation treatments for several large tumors in her brain. She will be staying in a clinic in Cleveland during treatments and will have to watch for relapse symptoms for the rest of her life.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries.

Vendertainers that brought many things to a show and are know for helping out where ever they can.

As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.

We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.

Specializing in Medieval, Goth , Stage Film, BDFSM and Practitioner.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.

Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"

A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?

After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...

Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
