Om Shanti Handcrafts blogSo I've been doing a lot of thinking over the last while. Y'all have some idea of the kind of crap I've dealt with over the last year and you can imagine, I think, the sort of thing that does to one's head. For months I wasn't doing much thinking at all -- just surviving, day to day. Then I got to a point where I was thinking a lot, but wasn't ready to share it yet. And now I've started sharing again.

And that got me looking at my blog, and thinking about the sorts of things I write about here. With a few exceptions, they're not really things I'd be interested in reading.

Yeah. I wouldn't read my blog. Is it any wonder that only a few other people do?

So I'm thinking maybe it's time to start posting a little more. And a little differently. No...a lot differently. I'm going to open up more. Broaden the scope of what I write about. More trip reports? More crafty business howtos? It's a start, but I want more more.

More...I don't know what, but things I haven't posted before, things maybe I've been afraid to post for fear I wouldn't do them justice.

I'm gonna write without fear. (Okay, I'm not, but I'm make that a goal to work towards.) I'm gonna write about things that interest me, whether or not I have any damn clue what I'm talking about. I'm gonna take my time with posts, work on them ahead instead of squeezing them in at the last minute (some of you may have noticed the hashtag #takeyourtime on a few of my Twitter posts recently -- more about that later!).

What do you want to see me writing about? What interests you? Very little's gonna be off limits, here, so ask away.

It'll be interesting. I'm not sure what else it'll be, but that much, at least, I can guarantee.

The magic of universe is based in first instance, in diverse thought, there is a fundamental, but to get there, we all most first free our minds, from prejudice of: to be or not to be...

Keep reaching the stars...

Good luck to you too! It's good to know I'm not the only one with this going on. Write without fear!

I came to feel the same about my blog this winter. I have a blog for my business that seems kind of dry. It's just updates of what I've been doing (but not thinking) and some pictures here and there. Nothing really interesting. When I get excited about other art blogs, its artists writing about their thoughts and inspirations, how-tos, and memorable anecdotes.

This year I hope to bring my or ME to my blog as well. Good luck to you!

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries.

Vendertainers that brought many things to a show and are know for helping out where ever they can.

As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.

We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.

Specializing in Medieval, Goth , Stage Film, BDFSM and Practitioner.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.

Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"

A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?

After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...

Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
