ARIES (March 21-April 19): You're prone to emphasize faults rather than virtues. It's important that you turn your attention to the positive. You are afraid to take risks but you should try something, however small, to build confidence.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20): You're apt to react only to the provocations of the moment, heedless of the consequences. Some are aware only of a buildup of resentment and act from that. It's important to put events in perspective and cool off.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20): You're prone to lose a sense of romance today. You can feel strong, negative emotions in its place. Jealousy, dislike or even hate is likely to develop. Treat relationships carefully and don't destroy any of them.

CANCER (June 21-July 22): You give people the sense that they can confide in you. You can keep secrets and many can provide guidance as well. This is a day when you are included in select information.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): Your job involves more thought and communication than usual today. You may have occasion to study your savings or job benefits or access them in ways you normally don't need to.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): You tend to argue first and believe later. You could alienate someone you need to listen to. Don't test people's patience or persistence. You could be the one losing out because you're hostile and unreceptive.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): You fear being stalled or held back so you may be prone to be aggressive in compensation. You're particularly sensitive to embarrassment and react badly if someone makes you look silly.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): This is a good day for clearing the air with people, especially someone you're romantically attached to. If someone seems quarrelsome, don't avoid it; turn it into a constructive conversation.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): You actively promote a cause you believe in today. You may feel the need to push events along, generally. There's something people need to know about and you do your best to get it to them.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): You need to speak out. If you hold back from the beginning, your reticence will only be strengthened. Instead, get a conversation going; whether people agree or disagree, the exchange of important information will start.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): This is a good day for devising plans that can increase income. You are generally concerned about ensuring you have enough money. Be sure that expenditures are investments toward that end.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): It is easy to let anger simmer but it is more productive to air grievances while they are still relatively small. Even when it seems you have no choice to comply, express your reservations and the reasons why.

At a gathering of Native Elders we were told that many men of today had lost their ability to look at the Woman in a sacred way. They said we were only looking at Her in a physical sense and had lost the ability to look at Her sacredness. They said the Woman has a powerful position in the Unseen World. She has the special ability to bring forth life. They told us to start showing Her respect and to look upon her in a sacred manner. We must start this today.

ARIES (March 21-April 19): You have opportunities but you must pursue them tirelessly today. You don't have anything handed over easily but must prove you're truly and deeply committed. You have to stay in it through all difficulties.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20): News from foreign countries is of most interest to you today. You have cause to question official stories, or you disseminate alternate versions from the mainstream's. In your high regard for truth, you dismiss what doesn't make sense.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20): Projects move slowly today. You need patience and don't expect instant fame and success. An older or a more experienced person can be helpful if you allow. Take advantage of any help that's offered.

CANCER (June 21-July 22): This is a good day for getting down to business. You need to be organized in order to make an impressive presentation and significant partners can assist in prepping you.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): This is a good day to take instruction from someone more experienced. You can realize the mistakes you've made and so you can make corrections and build on an improved plan.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): You're feeling competitive today but you use charm as your method of getting head, not confrontation. Providing a useful service in a way that stands out is key to success.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): You want to volunteer your help because you like to decide who really needs it. On the other hand, people who come asking or demanding it only create suspicion. You dislike being made to feel obligated.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): Important agreements have to be renegotiated today, perhaps at a very fundamental level. Perhaps new information comes to light that changes everything. It's not a good idea to resist or place blame.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): You can be forced into a cooperative situation today. Not that you want to be argumentative but you would rather be doing something else. Successful performance, however, brings positive results.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): To be truly creative, you have to think for yourself. Don't ask people what you should do but be inquisitive about people's desires, tastes and preferences. Be informed but don't let individual opinions control you.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): You can get involved in projects that promote pride in your family or in your heritage. For some, religious or political affiliation becomes important. A hard-won educational accomplishment is possible.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): This is a good day to get involved in neighborhood affairs. A local concert, community action or other gathering is helpful in getting to know people you don't ordinarily meet, to mutual advantage.

What are our sacred responsibilities? One is to be of maximum service to the Creator, and two is to serve the people. In a way, it's like the Great Spirit is the employer and we are the employees. We live each day, do what we do, accomplish our goals, face our difficulties, overcome them all to the Glory of the Creator. We do these things to make Him proud! Even if we work for a company, agency or tribe, they are not really our employer; the Creator is our employer. Working for the Creator is better than working for a human being, because each night we can talk to the Creator and ask Him, "Well, how did I do today?". He answers back each night, "I'm proud of you, my child; sleep well, and in the morning I'll give you a new set of growing experiences.".

Great Spirit, today, let me work for you. You will be my new boss

May 13, 1568: Mary Queen of Scots defeated

At the Battle of Langside, the forces of Mary Queen of Scots are defeated by a confederacy of Scottish Protestants under James Stewart, the regent of her son, King James VI of Scotland. During the battle, which was fought out in the southern suburbs of Glasgow, a cavalry charge routed Mary's 6,000 Catholic troops, and they fled the field. Three days later, Mary escaped to Cumberland, England, where she sought protection from Queen Elizabeth I.

In 1542, while just six days old, Mary ascended to the Scottish throne upon the death of her father, King James V. Her great-uncle was Henry VIII, the Tudor king of England. Mary's mother sent her to be raised in the French court, and in 1558 she married the French dauphin, who became King Francis II of France in 1559 and died in 1560. After Francis' death, Mary returned to Scotland to assume her designated role as the country's monarch. In 1565, she married her English cousin Lord Darnley, another Tudor, which reinforced her claim to the English throne and angered Queen Elizabeth.

In 1567, Darnley was mysteriously killed in an explosion at Kirk o' Field, and Mary's lover, James Hepburn, the earl of Bothwell, was the key suspect. Although Bothwell was acquitted of the charge, his marriage to Mary in the same year enraged the nobility, and Mary was forced to abdicate in favor of her son by Darnley, James. In 1568, she escaped from captivity and raised a substantial army but was defeated and fled to England. Queen Elizabeth I initially welcomed Mary but was soon forced to put her cousin under house arrest after Mary became the focus of various English Catholic and Spanish plots to overthrow her.

In 1586, a major Catholic plot to murder Elizabeth was uncovered, and Mary was brought to trial, convicted for complicity, and sentenced to death. On February 8, 1587, Mary Queen of Scots was beheaded for treason at Fotheringhay Castle in England. Her son, King James VI of Scotland, calmly accepted his mother's execution, and upon Queen Elizabeth's death in 1603, he became James I, king of England, Scotland, and Ireland.
