ARIES (March 21-April 19): This is a good day to review past successes and, especially, failures. A new strategy is necessary, instead of giving up. While you may not have a definite idea of the right thing to do, you should know what not to repeat.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20): You are eager to succeed but you may vacillate between opportunities. Make an informed decision and go with it, lest you lose both. When faced with many options, your discrimination must go into overdrive.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20): You have trouble coping with situations today. There can be information overload or your spiritual views are out of sync with your surroundings. You may be more comfortable alone rather than letting yourself be troubled in a crowd.

CANCER (June 21-July 22): You are patient today because that's the only way to get through a situation that's hard to comprehend. You have trouble understanding the implications of what you're learning so it's good to focus and work it out.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): You're prone to overreact under pressure. You need a reasonable procedure and you need to know when to ask for help. The strains show the weakness in the level of preparedness.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): You're feeling stifled today. You have big dreams that aren't being met. You may begin looking for situations that measure up to your capabilities. Some may need to be careful that they're being excessively proud.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): Don't compare yourself to others. You're liable to do this if you suffer by the comparison. Instead, be aware of your talents and abilities and ask whether your accomplishments match your potential.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): You may have trouble working with a partner but this is mostly a matter of training and background. Widely dissimilar upbringings create a lot of tension but it's also an opportunity for expanding your knowledge.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): You have the attitude that you aren't involved in any of the controversies going on around you, though you take an interest in learning the issues. If you care enough, you might offer your solutions, but some may decide to continue staying of it.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): You form a partnership that probably finds you the junior or inexperienced member. You have catching up to do so it's important to get serious and dedicated. You have to earn your position.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): You feel obligated to do what's expected of you today. You're challenged to use the good judgment and morals you've been taught and come to your own conclusions. You live under different circumstances but good will is universal.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): You want to make your own decisions now but you overestimate your capabilities. You may need an associate who has a realistic estimation about timing and procedures. You lean toward being too optimistic than is warranted.

Native people say the Earth is sacred. Some places on Earth will feel more sacred than others. You can often feel the sacredness of these places because of what has happened on them. If you do a ceremony on a certain place and return later, whatever happened before will still be there to help you. Even if someone you didn't know did something on the Earth and you come along later, the powers will be there to help you. This is why the Earth is sacred and these special places are sacred spots.

Cartier discovers St. Lawrence River

French navigator Jacques Cartier becomes the first European explorer to discover the St. Lawrence River in present-day Quebec, Canada.

In 1534, Cartier was commissioned by King Francis I of France to explore the northern American lands in search of riches and the rumored Northwest Passage to Asia. That year, Cartier entered the Gulf of St. Lawrence by the Strait of Belle Isle, explored its barren north coast for a distance, and then traveled down the west shore of Newfoundland to Cape Anguille. From there, he discovered Magdalen and Prince Edward islands, explored Chaleur Bay, and claimed Quebec's Gaspe Peninsula for France. He then discovered the inlet of the St. Lawrence River, sailed north to Anticosti Island, and then returned to Europe.

Previously thought to be a barren and inhospitable region, Cartier's discoveries of the warm and fertile lands around the Gulf of St. Lawrence inspired Francis I to dispatch him on a second expedition in 1535. On this voyage, he ascended the St. Lawrence to the native village of Hochelaga, site of the modern-day city of Montreal. On his return voyage to France, he explored Cabot Strait along the southern coast of Newfoundland. Cartier led a final expedition to the region in 1541, as part of an unsuccessful colonization effort. His extensive geographical discoveries formed the basis of France's claims to the rich St. Lawrence Valley in the 17th century.

ARIES (March 21-April 19): You have trouble making your needs known and understood today. You need to get past undeserved skepticism and get people to hear you out. Have facts at hand to support you, instead of emoting.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20): You can be pleasant and easy to get along with today. You entertain people mostly by being silly. You like to express your imagination, so a lot of what you say has no seriousness behind it.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20): You feel that success is within your reach but that someone or some circumstance is keeping it away. Analyze the situation carefully and form an appropriate response. Act from understanding, not frustration.

CANCER (June 21-July 22): It's important to keep your range of learning broad today. You can form unlikely associations that others won't perceive. This is the key to creativity now and the possibility of an innovation.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): Tension builds today, especially in a professional relationship. Feelings and expectations have to be sorted out fairly. Look past an impassioned complaint to discern the underlying needs that are not being met.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): You're in danger of being led down the wrong path by someone you trust. Make yourself doubt and question. Be sure you understand the facts and apply your own judgment about whether you should go along.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): Seek assistance carefully today. It may not be a good idea to advertise how little you know. Potential mentors could be too busy for you. You're challenged to turn a sticky situation to your benefit.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): Your imagination is intrigued by people and events long ago and far away. Exotic locales get your rapt attention. Generally, anything that seems exotic can become the object or your fascination.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): You don't fit in well with the company you keep. You can feel alone in a crowd, the exception to the social rule. Actively find a venue that makes you genuinely happy, instead of suffering.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): It's important to ask questions. You can absorb information like a sponge today but you also need to engage your critical faculties and question conclusions that are being presented as basic facts.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): An important relationship features irritation today. Don't make a big thing of it. A passing mood should be allowed to come and go, with no lasting consequence.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): Your bravery comes from being naive today. You may be in some danger without realizing it but some are willing to take risky dangers without understanding the gravity of the situation. Don't do foolish things.

Founder of Islam dies

In Medina, located in present-day Saudi Arabia, Muhammad, one of the most influential religious and political leaders in history, dies in the arms of Aishah, his third and favorite wife.

Born in Mecca of humble origins, Muhammad married a wealthy widow at 25 years old and lived the next 15 years as an unremarkable merchant. In 610, in a cave in Mount Hira north of Mecca, he had a vision in which he heard God, speaking through the angel Gabriel, command him to become the Arab prophet of the "true religion." Thus began a lifetime of religious revelations, which he and others collected as the Qur'an. These revelations provided the foundation for the Islamic religion. Muhammad regarded himself as the last prophet of the Judaic-Christian tradition, and he adopted the theology of these older religions while introducing new doctrines. His inspired teachings also brought unity to the Bedouin tribesmen of Arabia, an event that had sweeping consequences for the rest of the world.

By the summer of 622, Muhammad had gained a substantial number of converts in Mecca, leading the city's authorities, who had a vested interest in preserving the city's pagan religion, to plan his assassination. Muhammad fled to Medina, a city some 200 miles north of Mecca, where he was given a position of considerable political power. At Medina, he built a model theocratic state and administered a rapidly growing empire. In 629, Muhammad returned to Mecca as a conqueror. During the next two and a half years, numerous disparate Arab tribes converted to his religion. By his death on June 8, 632, he was the effective ruler of all southern Arabia, and his missionaries, or legates, were active in the Eastern Empire, Persia, and Ethiopia.

During the next century, vast conquests continued under Muhammad's successors and allies, and the Muslim advance was not halted until the Battle of Tours in France in 732. By this time, the Muslim empire, among the largest the world had ever seen, stretched from India across the Middle East and North Africa, and up through Western Europe's Iberian peninsula. The spread of Islam continued after the end of the Arab conquest, and many cultures in Africa and Asia voluntarily adopted the religion. Today, Islam is the world's second-largest religion.

In the Spiritual World there is a spiritual Law. The Law says; like attracts like. This means whatever mental picture we hold inside our minds we will attract from the Universe. To make this Law work we must maintain a constant picture. If we picture or vision something, and along with this picture we have doubting thoughts, our vision will not happen and we will get EXACTLY what we picture or vision. The Law always works. A doubting vision will not materialize what we want. A vision without doubt will always happen. This is a spiritual Law.
