Comment
ARIES (March 21-April 19): You enjoy managing today but you can be too enthusiastic and start butting into people's business. You're challenged to be mindful of personal boundaries and respect them.
TAURUS (April 20-May 20): Your dedication to family members is evident today. You spare no expense to meet their needs. You're very sentimental now and you see no harm in indulging peoples' whims.
GEMINI (May 21-June 20): You wait for others' approval or permission before proceeding. In many cases, however, you're waiting for no good reason and should take the initiative. Be a bit more concerned about what you want.
CANCER (June 21-July 22): You sense a need for securing more reliability and predictability in your life. This is an excellent day for being proactive about assessing your situation and needs and taking steps to make your life the way you want it.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): You have definite opinions and you're not afraid to speak your mind. You're in the mood to teach and preach and to argue if contradicted. You must exercise the patience to hear people out.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): This is an excellent day for making a public presentation or for making yourself look good in career-relating situations. You generally seek matters that you can agree with and develop rapport from there.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): You go for what you want today, partly because you're too impatient to wait and partly because you don't expect anyone to hand it to you. You're a self-starter because you see that few others are looking out for you.
SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): Even though it seems that talk is easy and action is difficult, you must make the effort to turn it the other ways around. Taking action gets results and is very therapeutic.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): You are exposed to a lot of emotions in public situations. Keep your own emotional level even by keeping a positive, helpful attitude and staying focused on definite objectives.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): You prefer dealing with people today over being alone or having to deal with inanimate objects. Your social skills are at a high point and you want to exercise them.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): It's important to stay in communication and to maintain polite discourse. Expect to have disagreements based in completely different premises. Expect to learn and to teach foreign concepts.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): This is an excellent day to stay home with your family. Strengthen emotional bonds, open up and be friends. It's generally a good day to let bygones be bygones and to build up trust.
Grandfather, today allow me to honor and respect the things You have made. Let me see the beauty of all things |
Jul 22, 1598:
The Merchant of Venice is entered on the Stationers' Register
On this day in 1598, William Shakespeare's play The Merchant of Venice is entered on the Stationers' Register. By decree of Queen Elizabeth, the Stationers' Register licensed printed works, giving the Crown tight control over all published material. Although its entry on the register licensed the printing of The Merchant of Venice, its first version would not be published for another two years.
The publication of Shakespeare's plays was a haphazard matter. Playwrights at the time were not interested in publication: They sold their plays to theater companies, which tried to prevent rivals from literally stealing the show. The writer produced only one complete written script for a play, and the players received only their own lines and cues, not the entire play. Sometimes, however, disgruntled actors would prepare their own version of the play from notes cribbed during performances. Among other plays, there are pirated versions, or "bad quartos," for Henry VI and Hamlet. Scholars believe, however, that the first printing, in 1600, of The Merchant of Venice came from a clean manuscript of the complete play.
During his lifetime, no authorized versions of Shakespeare's plays were printed. However, his sonnets were published in 1609, seven years before his death
ARIES (March 21-April 19): You ability to communicate is enhanced now. You like to be kind and reassuring. Children can like you because you are willing to teach them honestly and simply but without threats.
TAURUS (April 20-May 20): You become very concerned about your ability to provide for your family now. Your expectations of success aren't met and this means reduced ability to meet projections. You're foundering for alternative plans.
GEMINI (May 21-June 20): You feel an intense need for privacy and contemplation today. For some, extreme sleepiness make you stay in bed for extended periods or else because of a lack of responsibilities makes it easy and enjoyable to sleep in.
CANCER (June 21-July 22): You can relax and pay attention to matters that have little to do with the workaday world. Many can get caught up in a good fiction novel or movie. Others may study paranormal or unusual phenomena with which they have no experience themselves.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): You're optimistic about success but there is emphasis placed on social cooperation as a prerequisite. Some are suspicious of would-be helpers; yet others fear they can't succeed on their own. Do your best and the rest will follow.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): It's important that you remain alert and try to be decisive and proactive. Idleness will only be an invitation for someone else to try telling you what to do. Try not to be influenced so much by your moods.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): Your goals are modest and personal now, not grandiose life-path issues. For now, you're content to set an intent of the day and to make the day busy with chores that cry out for attention.
SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): You get caught up in family dramas today, even though you'd rather not. It's hard for you to bring any reason into the discussion. Be alert to hot-button issues; it may be better to let them rest for now.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): Authority figures seem confused and contradictory today. There can be dissension in the upper echelons, outside your influence. You're challenged to take the initiative in matters that are entirely your discretion.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): You can intuit the right techniques but for some being taught what others have done is also very instructive. You are guided not only by what you have learned, but also from your creative imagination.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): You make extra effort to get along with people, as well encouraging everyone around you to get along. Some can secretly fear that if they don't bring people around, they will be left out.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): You're apt to believe what people tell you. You must try to be at least a little bit suspicious, or to think that not everyone is as right as they feel they are. Be aware of how much people are fooling themselves.

Come into my heart this morning. Allow me this day to live in the now. Help me to see all the beauty You have created in all things. Let me know myself. Today, as I make mistakes, let me see them as lessons. Guide me. When I see others make mistakes, let me honor them for where they are. Let me realize that they are Your children and only You, my Grandfather, knows what is really going on. When my lips move, let the words be Your words. |
Allow me to have the courage to speak Your truth
Jul 21, 365:
Tsunami hits Alexandria, Egypt
On this day in the year 365, a powerful earthquake off the coast of Greece causes a tsunami that devastates the city of Alexandria, Egypt. Although there were no measuring tools at the time, scientists now estimate that the quake was actually two tremors in succession, the largest of which is thought to have had a magnitude of 8.0.
The quake was centered near the plate boundary called the Hellenic Arc and quickly sent a wall of water across the Mediterranean Sea toward the Egyptian coast. Ships in the harbor at Alexandria were overturned as the water near the coast receded suddenly. Reports indicate that many people rushed out to loot the hapless ships. The tsunami wave then rushed in and carried the ships over the sea walls, landing many on top of buildings. In Alexandria, approximately 5,000 people lost their lives and 50,000 homes were destoyed.
The surrounding villages and towns suffered even greater destruction. Many were virtually wiped off the map. Outside the city, 45,000 people were killed. In addition, the inundation of saltwater rendered farmland useless for years to come. Evidence indicates that the area's shoreline was permanently changed by the disaster. Slowly, but steadily, the buildings of Alexandria's Royal Quarter were overtaken by the sea following the tsunami. It was not until 1995 that archaeologists discovered the ruins of the old city off the coast of present-day Alexandria.
Today, the anniversary of the tsunami is celebrated annually with the residents saying prayers and marking the evening by illuminating the city.
ARIES (March 21-April 19): You are studious and withdrawn today. You may have trouble conveying the importance of anything you learn. You may need to practice enthusiasm or excitement because moods are catching, even sober mood.
TAURUS (April 20-May 20): You take on a great deal of responsibility today. You're willing to adapt and learn what's necessary, primarily from experience. You put a premium on accurate details now.
GEMINI (May 21-June 20): You have religious or political questions now and you want definite answers. According to your needs you can accept anything from practical advice to hard proof. One thing you're very sensitive to is evasion.
CANCER (June 21-July 22): You may have to make the most out of a reduced amount of resources. You must struggle with your ideas that things must be just so because they're not. You're challenged to be creative.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): You must overcome self-doubt. Accept that there are certain tasks you must do alone; the fact that others aren't interested shouldn't discourage you. People will appreciate the results of your efforts.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): Today you take a realistic assessment of you income. This is a good time to make economic projections of all sorts but especially the ones that relate personally to you, especially matters of income and debts.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): You think that you have to learn and discover on your own now. This may not be so. At least try to find friends who as interested or motivated as you. Share what's going on and make an invitation to join you.
SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): You like to spend a lot of time alone today. For some reason, you fear you're not up to certain challenges, so you avoid them rather than try. This may be a good time to study such difficult issues some more.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): You turn attention to practical matters with an eye to building and repairing. Many have to start in the study and preparing phase; this is necessary if you haven't already done your homework.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): You take time to study a technical area today. You're ready to tackle a topic that's difficult but necessary. You may see some sort of career growth in this at some point.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): You are trying to coordinate the activities of a lot of people today. Out of a group of people who have their own schedules, you are challenged to work out a schedule all of them can meet.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): You become aware of a career opportunity, and so this is a good day for learning more about it. You can take steps to learn more and get more experience. You need to deal with a lot of information, some of it disappointing.
"When you begin a great work you can't expect to finish it all at once; therefore, you and your brothers press on and let nothing discourage you until you have entirely finished what you have begun." |
-- Teedyuschung, DELAWARE |
All things have their seasons. All thoughts are real. We must think to cause action and each action creates results. Big visions require many thoughts. It takes a series of thoughts to create a series of actions. A series of actions creates a series of results. These results are what makes vision become real. If we are here to serve the Creator then we can expect to be accomplishing big visions. How do we do this? One step at a time. |
Let me focus on what needs to be done today. Give me clear thoughts to accomplish the results that you, my Creator, would have me accomplish
ARIES (March 21-April 19): You're very sensitive to others' moods today but you may not fully understand them or know what to do about it. You're challenged to stay on an even emotional keel and to shield yourself from too much empathy.
TAURUS (April 20-May 20): You are apt to make wasted effort today. Don't just jump into a situation; have patience and use your intellect first. Careful research is necessary to know what you're getting into; don't trust quick intuition.
GEMINI (May 21-June 20): You don't perform well under pressure or under observation. You are perfectly capable, but may have trouble verbalizing what you know to others. You may want to practice putting vague thoughts into coherent words.
CANCER (June 21-July 22): You're thrown off-kilter today. It's hard to stay focused on your intentions now since there are many distractions. Events don't go right or normally now and you must deal with many delays and unusual events.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): Your attention is wayward today. You're distracted when you need to focus. Temptations are strong but you must be strong and keep what's important uppermost in mind.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): Take extreme care of your finances. Look over your transactions carefully and guard personal information. There is extreme risk of fraud, so don't fall for common scams. Change and improve your Internet passwords.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): Pay close attention to your health. Be aggressive in treating symptoms but be sure you address the cause. You're in a long-term period when you must focus on building strength and avoid bad habits that debilitate you.
SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): It may require an emergency to focus your thoughts today, though there may not be one. You are generally scattered and may respond inappropriately to situations. Pay attention to social expectations and don't scorn them.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): You can make strides in some areas but only at the expense of others. For many, a career path opens up but the family is left in need of help. Don't leave your foundations unprotected.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): You accept challenges, but the ethical dimension of your actions is important to keep in mind at all times. Don't do anything you would be ashamed of if known publicly. Don't create dirty little secrets.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): You would rather take on too many responsibilities rather than admit you're in need of help. Try to communicate honestly, without either over- or under-statement. People need to know exactly what's going on.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): This can be a day full of humiliation today. You should probably draw the conclusion that a goal has been too fanciful or your methods have been too unrealistic. Think about the weaknesses very carefully.
Elder's Meditation of the Day - July 19 | ![]() |
"We were taught to believe that the Great Spirit sees and hears everything, and that He never forgets, that hereafter He will give every man a spirit-home according to his deserts: If he has been a good man, he will have a good home; if he has been a bad man, he will have a bad home."
-- Chief Joseph, NEZ PERCE
I cannot hide my true spirit and intent from the Creator. He created a system of justice. This system of justice says we will get back whatever we plant. If we plant good then good returns - if we plant bad, then we will suffer the consequences. Whatever we think about another person, the same things are thought about us. Whatever we send out is sent back. Man cannot alter this system of justice. It doesn't matter what we say or do. What really matters is what we really, really did. |
Oh Great Spirit, guide me today to do good, to have good thoughts. Let me remember the things I do are to honor Your way of life

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.
Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries.
Vendertainers that brought many things to a show and are know for helping out where ever they can.
As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.
We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.
Specializing in Medieval, Goth , Stage Film, BDFSM and Practitioner.
Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.
Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"
A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?
After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...
Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
