Mars (Red), is the first planet of the zodiac and represents the sign of Aries. Like the first primary ray in our light spectrum, Aries is ruled by the color red. The red of Mars is pure and vibrant. Filled with energy and dynamic force, this Martian Red fills one with feelings of power and ability. If you are feeling down and out of energy, choose to wear Martian Red as it will help energize you. If you are not a person who would wear red on the outside, then choose it for your undergarments.

Venus (Pink), is the second planet of the zodiac and represents the signs of Libra and Taurus. The color most usually associated with Venus is the color pink. It carries the energy of Mars but it is softened by the loving nature of Venus. Pastels within the range of pink tones will always bring the Venusian magic to the wearer or the atmosphere. In candle magic, love spells always call for pink candles to manifest pure love.

Mercury (Yellow), is the third planet of the zodiac and represents the signs of Gemini and Virgo. Yellow is the color most normally connected with the planet Mercury. Yellow indicates communication and action. When one wants to get guests to have a lively conversation but not to stay to long, in Feng Shui one would use yellow to decorate a room. Yellow can range in shades from the most garish to the most gentle and thus can be our communications and our conversations.

The Moon (White/Silver/Gray/Black), is the fourth point of light in the zodiac. While not a planet, it is one of the most important points within the chart and represents woman, emotions and the sign of Cancer. There is some controversy as to what color one would associate with the moon but I find that the range from white to gray/silver to black best reflects the phases of the moon and our emotions. The moon and these colors represent our ability to absorb and reflect the full spectrum of light just as the moon does in the individual chart. To be mysterious a woman will wear black and to be virginal she will wear white but when she wears silver she will truly shine and reflect the light at the same time. In decorating these choices of black, white and grays create perfect background for all that one wants to feature.

The Sun (Orange), is the fifth point of light of the zodiac. The center of the chart and the power source of the light, it is best represented by the vibrant oranges and gold that one thinks of when considering it's ruler, the sign of Leo. The courageous use of these colors is bold and invigorating and creates a statement that cannot be ignored, just as a Leo cannot be ignored. The tawny strains of amber and rich golden tans also reflect the colors of this planet. When physical energy is out of balance, any of the colors associated with the sun can help to invigorate one. The wearing of the gemstone amber can help one capture some of this energy also.

Jupiter (Vibrant Color Mixtures), is bold and powerful and very richly colors of crimson and gold mixtures. Jupiter, ruler of Sagittarius, is never shy and never quiet. It speaks and yells for plaids and rich mixtures. The vestments of the priests and popes speak to the vibrant colors of Jupiter. Look for a sense of the mystical when you choose a color to reflect Jupiter.

Saturn (Dark Colors), is dark and somber and always in good taste like a very tasteful black dress or well tailored black suit. Navy blue and all well reserved colors reflect this planet which rules the sign of Capricorn. When you see a person all in black don't think undertaker, think Saturn and Capricorn (unless an Aquarian has gone a little artsy on you). Dark browns and earthy colors will also be the designator of Saturn.

Pluto (Rich Colors/Burgundy), is the seventh planet to be considered in the astrological spectrum. Ruler of Scorpio, Pluto maintains some of the majestic energy of Martian Red (Mars was originally the ruler of Scorpio) but combines it with the deeper darker tones that move toward the violet spectrum. The full rich color of a good burgundy that swirls in a good crystal wineglass is the color of Pluto. Magenta can also reflect Plutonian energies. Think of rich dark reds with a hint of blue or purple and you can capture the essence of Pluto. Plutonian colors are never shy but they are never underdone. It is a combination of subtle elegance and raw power that is purely Scorpio. Want to activate your root chakra than choose these rich jewel-like tones to wear.

Uranus (Vibrant Blue), is electrifying and blue like a surrealistic representation of the midnight sky singed by lightening. The quality of this Aquarian planet is like highly polished lapis lazuli tinged with flakes of gold. Not shy in its manifestation the blue of Uranus will shock you and intrigue you. Want to shake things up and get the mental vibes going choose a clear and vibrant blue. Drink your water from a cobalt blue glass. Look into the strangely blue eyes of an Aquarian friend (if you are lucky enough to have one with blue eyes) and you will capture the magical madness of this pure deep and powerful blue. Deep blues with a metallic hue are also Uranian.

Neptune (Indigo/Purple), takes one to the other end of the Spectrum where violets capture the imagination and almost lead one from indigo to ultraviolet. Neptune expresses that which is seen but not really seen so colors that seems mystical and otherworldly will be the manifestation of this planet that rules the sign of Pisces. When you need to touch the spiritual side of yourself choose colors that meld into the tones of violet and purple with just a touch of blue. It is a planet that colors Unicorns and magicians.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries.

Vendertainers that brought many things to a show and are know for helping out where ever they can.

As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.

We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.

Specializing in Medieval, Goth , Stage Film, BDFSM and Practitioner.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.

Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"

A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?

After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...

Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
