Medicinal Use

Asafoetida is a good example of overlapping culinary and medicinal use of a plant. particularly in South India, the assafedida is regularly used for the preparation of legumes (beans, peas, lentils). These, being rich in indigestible oligosaccharides, requiring spices that have antiflatulent action. The odor of asafoetida is stronger and more tenacious than that of onion, the taste is bitter and sour, the smell of resin and rubber depends on volatile oil. It 'widely used in India and Persia as a condiment in spite of its repulsive odor, even for its stimulating effect on the brain. It is an exciting local mucous membrane, particularly of the digestive and respiratory tract and hence is a remedy of great value as a carminative in flatulence and colic is particularly used in addition to the remedies laxatives. There is evidence that the essential oil is eliminated through the lungs, and is excellent for asthmatic bronchitis, whooping cough, etc.. Because of its taste is produced in capsule form, but is often given to children rectally in the form of emulsion.Ombrellifera plant that grows up to 3-4 meters high, large fleshy root covered with fibers, for some time has been successfully grown in the botanical gardens of Edinburgh, yellow flowers, has a milky juice and a strong odor of fetid. Several species of asafoetida splint injury. The mass of the drug comes from the official plant, which is indigenous to Afghanistan, and is from 600 to 1200 meters above sea level. These high plains are arid in winter but in summer are often covered by the luxuriant growth of these plants. The large cabbage heads bent as they are eaten raw by the natives. June is the month of collection of plants to be about four years old. The roots of the plants that have flowers are small and exposed, so they are protected from the sun for five or six weeks for the gummy oleoresin to come out hard.

ASAFOETIDA is a foul-smelling herb which has truly earned the alternative name DEVIL'S DUNG. It is an old preventive against sickness in European; in India, it is said to stimulate the brain; in hoodoo it repels evil, keeps off the law, and harms enemies. To stop someone from bothering you, burn it on charcoal and make your command in the name of the Devil. To reverse a trick, put DEVIL'S DUNG, Vandal Root, Black Hen Feathers, Black Arts Powder, and a hair of the witch in a bottle. Urinate into the bottle while cursing the witch, cap and seal it with wax from a black candle, and bury it where the witch will walk over it. After working with DEVIL'S DUNG, wash your hands with Florida Water or Hoyt's Cologne so folks won't know what you've been up to.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries.

Vendertainers that brought many things to a show and are know for helping out where ever they can.

As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.

We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.

Specializing in Medieval, Goth , Stage Film, BDFSM and Practitioner.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.

Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"

A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?

After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...

Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
