Bergamot;
Bergamot, also known as Bee Balm is a flower I remember from trips to my Great
Grandmothers in late summer. The colors and smells from these flowers are so
tremendously impressive. You will always see bees and butterfly’s hovering around
them. Bergamot depending on the flowers have flavors that hint of orange, lemon, and
sweet mint. I have always loved teas made from Bergamot.
Bergamot was used in many of my Great Grandmothers love spells charms and
bags. I remember going along beside her as she would go pick just the right flowers and
leaves for the magick she was working and teas she would brew.
The hundreds of bee’s that were flying around the brightly colored flowers
seemed to always begin chasing me. They never bother my Great Grandmother, but they hated me.
I imagine that’s probably where Bergamot got the name Bee Balm, and the bee’s
still don’t like to sharing this one.
Folk Names; Bee Balm, Lemon Balm, Horsemint.
Magickal Powers;
Jobs, Money and Love.
Bergamot carried in a bag and keep with you during a job interview will increase
your chances for you to be hired for the job you desire. I will also increase the chances of
promotions with the job you already have.
Bergamot can be made into a love potions or elixirs to cause the one of your
desires to fall hopelessly in love (or lust) with you. You only need add about 1/4 cup of
the potion to be drink by the person. But it must all be completely drunk.
Bergamot Love Potion;
1, Teaspoon Bergamot leaves
1, Cup hot water for brewing
1/4, Cup honey
1/4, Teaspoon Vanilla
Pinch, Powdered Cloves
Brew together covered for 3 minutes and serve as tea or mix in wines.
Be careful that you really what this person. Sometimes you find your desires are
lost when there are captured.
Medical Uses;
Healthier Hair and Skin, Sleep, Nausea and Flatulence
My Great Grandmother was into her latter ninety’s when she pasted. One of the
remarkable things about her was her beautiful hair. Even at ninety+ she had healthy
looking long hair. It had turned to a dark silvery gray but even then thick and healthy.
Her hair still long below her waist worn in a twisted braid around her head. She would
use an infusion made of waters and oil made with Bergamot leaves and flowers on her
hair.
An infusion of Bergamot has a wonderful scent of flowers and has healing powers
in it for both hair and skin.
Bergamot has natural thymol in the leaves, which is why it works wonders as a
tonic when applied to pimples and small skin rashes.
The leaves can be brewed in to a teas or potions for sleep, nausea, flatulence
(gas), and to ease with the digestive problems.
Bergamot should be brewed into a strong tonics or strong teas will help stop
insomnia.
Other;
Bergamot leave fresh can be added to drinks, meat, stews and salads of a spicy
citric flavor. My Great Grandmother would mix Bergamot with sage for her stuffing and
everyone wondered what her secret ingredient was that made her stuffing's so much
better than all the rest.
AS WITH ALL THINGS HERBAL IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO SOMETHING DON'T USE IT. IF YOU ARE NOT SURE DON'T TAKE A CHANCE IT IS NOT WORTH IT

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.
Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries.
Vendertainers that brought many things to a show and are know for helping out where ever they can.
As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.
We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.
Specializing in Medieval, Goth , Stage Film, BDFSM and Practitioner.
Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.
Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"
A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?
After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...
Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
