Stonehouse Park - Earlville, Illinois - The New PSG Site!

It's official! PSG has a new location for 2011! The beautiful Stonehouse Park near Earlville, Illinois will welcome the PSG Community this Summer for our weeklong celebration of Summer Solstice, June 19-26!

Stonehouse Park is a historical re-enactment event site with 50 acres of level land that is great for camping and events! There is plenty of shaded camping! There are also several RV's and trailer-cabins that we will be working out possible rental details of at a later time. And for those of you with RV's or pop-up campers we should be able to accommodate electrical hook-ups for you too on site! And did I mention level ground? This event site is so level and laid out so nicely that you can literally see the whole camp and know what's going on everywhere! True Community camping at its best!

The property has significant history dating back in the early 1800's. The original Stonehouse built on the property in 1848 is currently being restored. History of the park shows that Chief Shabbona of the Potawatomi Indians who camped near by would come and eat with the owners of the property and traded deer meat for onions with them! In 1845 there was a land dispute with a neighbor which went all the way to the Illinois Supreme Court. The attorney who handled the case was none other than then Attorney Abraham Lincoln of Springfield.

For PSG use, we will find very nice amenities! There is a very large 3 bay barn that has been renovated where we will hold indoor concerts! No more sitting in the sun for noon concerts! And no more hauling your chairs to the concerts there are plenty of picnic tables! There is a beautiful court yard for gathering right outside of the barn also.

The camp features a beautifully remodeled camp store with a wonderfully large deck great for sitting and chatting with friends or reading your favorite book! The camp store has phone service, wireless service, indoor restrooms and all the snacks and forgotten necessities you may need!

There is a wonderfully large shower house that has 3 showers stalls on both the men's and women's sides. There are also flush toilets here too! Behind the shower house is a large sink perfect for scrubbing dishes or clothes!

Attached to the shower house is covered pavilion that overlooks the wonderful swimming pond and sandy beach! Bring your rafts and lounge chairs and enjoy!

And did I mention a creek also runs through the property? Well, it does and you can camp in the shaded area along it and enjoy the creek in your own campsite backyard!

The staff at Stonehouse Park are going to be building the bonfire area the way we want it! We've chosen a beautiful area in the middle of the woods. How exciting is that?

And while we probably don't need it at this site, as an added convenience (or should I say luxury?) the campground staff will also be running a shuttle during certain hours each day!

What more can you ask for? Well how about cell phone service? Yes, you can get cell phone service at the camp! Some spots and some carriers are better than others and you probably won't get 3 or 4G but there is cell phone service!

We're excited to be going to Stonehouse Park and know you'll appreciate all the hard work we've done in securing the best site possible for PSG! Be sure to go to www.stonehousepark.net and take a look at the photos of the site. We'll see you there!

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries.

Vendertainers that brought many things to a show and are know for helping out where ever they can.

As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.

We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.

Specializing in Medieval, Goth , Stage Film, BDFSM and Practitioner.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.

Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"

A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?

After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...

Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
