Greetings All,

I would like to share some information of The Speculum (The Dark Mirror of Scrying) used in Evocations.  This particular Method was Re-discovered by Poke Runyon, M.A. Archimage of the Ordo Templi Astartes.

I shall be quoting extensively from  Poke Runyon's Book "The Book of Solomon's Magick by this Archimage of the O.T.S.

Quoting from Chapter 2:Page 32; Para 2:  "The final all important clue had been sitting right there on my book shelf!  The secret was in the work called "Tantra, the Yoga of Sex" by Omar Garrison published in 1964.  In this book the author explained an Ancient Oriental Method of Conjuring up Images of Previous Incarnations from the Reflextion of One's Own Face...In a Dark Mirror...Flanked by Candles."

Para 3:  "I tried Garrison's experiement and found that it worked with remarkable effectiveness.  If a person in a darkened room stares for several minutes into a Mirror Flanked by Candles, a Strange Phenomenon Will Almost Always Happen:  The Familiar Reflection will fade out and disappear.  The Mirror will go Black and, when the Image returns, it Will Be The Face of SOmeone, or SOmething Else!

Para 4:  The Experience is Usually Accompanied by a Profound Sense of an Other-Worldly Presence.

Para 5:  I suspected that in a Ritual Setting, using Traditional Conjurations and Symbols, Specific Spirits and even Gods and Goddesses might be Summoned from the Other Side... This migh well be the Ancient Secret behind that strange passage in the Bible that reads:  "God Fashioned Man In His Own Image."

Page 33,Para 3:   After discovering the use of The Magick Mirror in an Elevated Tripod ANgle seemed obvious.  Out 17th Century Lemegeton Manuscript, Sloane 2731 clearly shows a "Large Black-Filled Circle" in the Center of Solomon's Triangle  Note that the instructions written around the triangle say:  "Two foot off from the Circle and three foot Over." - Not "Three foot across," as the published version has it.  The Triangle was intended to be Raised to Eye Level...

This was the Information given in "The Book of Solomon's Magick"  By Poke Runyon, M.A. Archimage - Ordo Templi Astartes.

I would like to present a Ritual Evokation Outline Form for the Sumerian Goddess Inanna.  This has been adapted from Poke Runyon's Methods with a 16" Inch Black Polished Mirror Sitting on a Tripod Flanked by 2 Black Candles at Eye Level  to the Scrying Priestess.  We also made a tape Recording of hte Responses given, which I shall not add here since they were of a Personal Nature.

                                Evocation of Inanna

*Priest and Priestess come before Altar.  Priest Picks up Censer of Incense, Priestess Picks Up Bell.

Priest Lights Incense and Candles

*Priest and Priestess Circumambulat 4 times around Magickal Circle.  Priest Swings the Censer of Incense and Priestess Rings Bell at Western Quarter.

*Priest states:  "O Spirits of the Ancient Ones, Great Gods of Old, Spirits of the ever expanding and ever growing Universe, we give you thanks.  We ask that you would be present here in this Black Mirror Scrying Ritual and Guard Us, and Guide Us in our endeavours this day... So Mote It Be."

*Priestess Scryer picks up the Two Black Candles and SIts before Black Mirror of Scrying.

*Priest lights Black Candles in Priestesses Hands.

Conjuration:

"O Ancient Gods of Sumer we enlist your aid in this Scrying Ritual.  Let your Presences be felt in this Ritual, Guide us and Guard us in our Endeavours."  Anu, Enlil, Enki, Marduk, Sin, Samas', Nergal, Inanna.  All You Ancient Gods and Goddesses of Sumer who have formed the Universe and Made Man and Woman and ALL the Creatures to Inhabit the Earth, we beseech Thee to send the Goddess Inanna in one of her three aspects as manifest unto us in the Black Mirror of Scrying.  That Inanna might utter a word through the Priestess of hte Scrying to inform and to teach us concerning those things in which we seek knowledge, and those things in which we need instruction, or foreknowledge."

*Priest asks Priestess if there is a Form in the Black Mirror of Scrying yet, and if there is a Word to be Uttered.?

Conjuration if Spirit, or Goddess has not Appeared:

"I do Conjure Thee O Great Inanna by the Power in the Ancient Ones Names;  Anu Enlil, Enki, Marduk, Sin, Samas' Nergal, and by thine Own Great Name Inanna.  Show forth thine Presence in the Black Mirror of Scrying unto the Priestess of the Scrying Ritual,  And give unto us Voice through the Priestess of the Scrying.  Let Your Knowledge and Your Council be gladdening unto Our Souls.

License to Depart:

"Seeing that peacably and in quiet thou hast come unto us in a pleasing manner, and Thou hast made answer unto us concerning the words of Thy Way.  We Thank Thee, O Inanna and All the Ancient Gods and Goddesses of Sumer, We Thank the Universe for its Presence of Life and for instilling within us the Keys to unlock the Secrets of our Natures.  May Thine Great Goddesshead return unto Thine place of habitation and peace.  If Thou wishest to stay we invite Thee to continue, if Thou wishest to depart we say depart in peace.

So Mote It Be.

This is the end of the Black Mirror Scrying Ritual Outline for the Sumerian Goddess Inanna.  I hope it has offered you some information in Method and Technique.

Respectfully,

Helel (Joseph)

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries.

Vendertainers that brought many things to a show and are know for helping out where ever they can.

As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.

We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.

Specializing in Medieval, Goth , Stage Film, BDFSM and Practitioner.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.

Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"

A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?

After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...

Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
