    Magickal Moon

Magickal Moon with a light so bright
Watch over us all and protect us through the night

When you're large and full of grace
Even when we can barely see your face

We know you are always there
    Your magick fills the air

Waning and waxing as the nights come and go
Feeling that mystic tug and tow

Abundance and blessings you give without take
Please accept these prayers we now make

Our words we send to thee with love
We cast them to you and the heavens above

    Magickal Moon in the night
Thank you for the dreams, the visions, the second sight

A blessing at the end of each day
You light the darkness in a loving and magickal way

Carrying with you the secrets from ancient times gone by
Your presence is felt beneath the starry night sky

Magickal Moon thank you for your love, thank you for your light
Thank you for watching over us every single night.

    Full Cold Moon (December)

This is the month when the winter cold fastens its grip and the nights become long and dark. This full Moon is also called the Long Nights Moon by some Native American tribes.

During this month the winter cold fastens its grip, and nights are at their longest and darkest. It is also sometimes called the Moon before Yule.

The term Long Night Moon is a doubly appropriate name because the midwinter night is indeed long, and because the Moon is above the horizon for a long time.

The midwinter full Moon has a high trajectory across the sky because it is opposite a low Sun.

    Moon Prayer

Lady Moon, your light has just returned,
For the cycle of your power.
Maiden, mistress of new beginnings and youth,
Your light shine down upon the earth.
    Upon night's darkest cloak,
Let your mark be spread for all to see,
Glowing ever stronger in the sky.
Tonight let your powers of new beginnings,
Wash away the follies of last cycle.
Seep away my weariness and sorrows.
Fill me to the brim with strength and hope,
    Replace faded dreams with new,
And give me the endurance to carry on.
Goddess in the sky, look down upon me,
    Your Witch, Sorceress and Priestess,
    In your presence, gathers here.
As the moon moves through its cycles,
May the blessing of the Maiden,
    Remain strong and surround us.
In the name of the Threefold Goddess,
    So mote it be.

    See me.
    I am your child.
    At this, the appointed hour,
I stand before you and reach out with my whole heart to the full moon.
Hear my words as they rise among the stars
And at night, when my body lies resting, whisper to my spirit.
    Teach me secrets yet revealed...
    Fill me with wisdom...
    Enfold me in your power...
Keeper of the mysteries of the moon,
Hear these words and recall the ancient promise that
All who seek your presence shall find your blessings.
    At this, the appointed hour,
I stand before you and reach out with my whole heart to the full moon.
    I am your child.
    See me.

    Winter Night’s Blessing-
    Full Moon

While preparing for bed, read this blessing aloud as part of your nightly prayers:

'When the nights are dark and stormy,
And things become hard to see,
    Dear God and Goddess
Help to keep the light within me glowing.
So that no matter which way the wind’s blowing,
    I am on the Path I should be;
I am one of the blessed,
Who seek complete union with the Divine,
I am one of the shining ones,
Whose light continues to brighten the night.
In the name of the Lord and Lady, Blessed Be!'

As you drift to sleep, imagine that you are the candle that the Goddess has lit. Imagine your light burning bright and shining like a star in the night sky. Every night, your light grows brighter and brighter and your life becomes filled with the joy of Divine Love.

    Happy New Moon in Pisces

    Happy New Moon!

This New Moon occurs on Tuesday, February 21st, 2012, at 5:35 PM EST. On Tuesday afternoon, a new cycle begins. The Aquarius New Moon cycle ends and the Pisces New Moon cycle begins. The New Moon in Pisces is a good time to commit to personal goals that express the positive energies of the sign of the Fish. These include taking a leap of faith, accepting imperfections in ourselves and in others as a different kind of "perfection", starting a project that requires imagination and visualization skills, consciously putting time aside for peaceful and rejuvenating activities, and sharing a dream with another. With this potent Pisces energy, we have the chance to make important changes in our lives. This New Moon is especially creative and imaginative as it is aligned with Neptune, newly in Pisces, the sign that it rules. While we are likely to feel very inspired, and this New Moon can motivate us to take a leap of faith, we should check into reality from time to time. The New Moon's trine to Saturn helps ground us and a sense that we can turn our dreams into reality.

April's full Moon heralded the appearance of the moss pink, or wild ground phlox (one of the first spring flowers). It is also known as the Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon, and the Fish Moon. Historically, Native Americans living in what is now the northern and eastern United States kept track of the seasons by giving a distinctive name to each full Moon. This name was used to refer to the entire month in which the Moon occurred. With some variations, the same Moon names were used throughout the Algonquian tribes from New England to Lake Superior.

It is also called the Pink Moon because of the wild ground phlox, one of the earliest widespread pink flowers of the spring, usually in bloom right now.

    April Moons

    Full Moon: April 6, 3:19 P.M.
    Last Quarter: April 13, 6:50 A.M.
    New Moon: April 21, 3:18 A.M.
    First Quarter: April 29, 5:57 A.M.

According to folklore, if hair is cut during the Moon's waxing phase (between new and full), growth is encouraged. The opposite will occur if hair is cut during the waning phase (the day after the Moon is full to the day before it's new).

Mistress of the night time sky
Shine down on me from above
Bathe me in your cool silvery, beauty
And shower me with your love
Watch over me while I am sleeping
Keeping me safe and free from all woe
Bless all that dwell within my home
May your loving kindness they know

And when you're the Queen of Darkness
Your face you do not show
I know you will still watch over me
    No matter where I go
For I'm your child Mother Goddess
    And I am truly blessed
I thank you for watching over me
As I lay me down to rest.
