Gor is NOT BDSM, nor is BDSM Gor. no matter how you want to put a spin on it
A subbie enjoys the whip, as does the Dom who uses it on him or her. This is a SEXUAL enjoyment. A slave does NOT enjoy the whip, because it is not used to be pleasurable, it is used to train. As someone who IS a Master, and who IS a Gorean, I can tell you that I find nothing more distasteful than a slave who has gotten to the point of whip training. Infact, despite your posted thoughts, I don't even OWN a whip, or goad, or even a flogger. Infact, at this juncture in life, I don't even own a slave. And even when I did, I still didn't own the "toys" that some feel they require to dominate a slave. A Master, or even Mistress, doesn't really need those toys unless they enjoy playing with them. In the concept of "whip training", I find that I have lacked in properly training her to the point that the whip is necessary. This is the standard of using the whip, or slave goad, or other basically torture devices found within the book. Ever notice there isn't some slave setting there going "ohhhhh Master.. please, whip me again you big stud!" or references to her extreme enjoyment at having layers of flesh flayed away? No.. and you even so stated that point yourself. Thus, by it's very definition of Sadomasochist/ism, BDSM and Gor cannot be the same thing.
BDSM - Bondage, Discipline, Sadism, Masochism. When will the BDSM crowd stop trying to lump Domination/Submission in there? It has been Bondage, Discipline, Sadism, Masochism for more than 4 DECADES, so in the last few years the over-zealous pompous fetish types don't get to start arbitrarily changing the rules on what BDSM really stands for. Now, I will grant you, to some extent, Domination and Submission DO come into play in BDSM.. into PLAY. However, for one to be Gorean, either Free or slave (unowned of course), there is no need for Domination or submission to actually BE a Gorean. By accounts of the texts, on Gor approximately 4% of the TOTAL population where slaves, in one form or the other. This being said, your summation of having to maintain ownership, or be owned, to be Gorean, would remove 96% of the entire population from your definition. I think you may want to rethink that one just a bit.. but I'll leave you with that to chew on...

Our Next Free KINKDOM PARTY is January 29th...
The basement is all ready to go, some new play stations have been added, It's cozy like a dungeon. Now we have the first level and full basement for play; doubling the space we had before. We think folks are gonna like it and, we are eager to share.
After the holidays everyone tends to be short on cash. Great timing for a free party. For those 21 and older feel free to bring adult beverages if you wish. We'll have a very nice spread of food and munchies.
An event link is at the bottom of this page, as before please RSVP individually, so we can do our best to ensure their is plenty of food & accommodations for all.
Hours will be from 7pm-4am (possibly later) and there will be ample parking, along with parking security from open to close. For any women who might be arriving or leaving alone parking security will be watching out for you. If you ask them you can be walked to and from the door if it makes you feel more comfortable. Our building is on the edge of Mexican Town and is not only very safe but, pretty quiet too.
Detroit has a stigma so, even though we likely don't require any security we'll still be providing it, so long as it makes people feel better.

The Michigan weather seems to be giving us a break this week, come out and meet us at your friendly local munch!
Join us at Brann's at 4157 Division Ave S. Grand Rapids 49548 at 6:30 until 10:30 for your friendly monthly munch.
Dress code is enforced. Please dress for a family establishment, or at least cover yourself when going through the main part of the restaurant.
When entering, ask the hostess for the Munch group or the GGRM, or go straight through the main room to the private rooms to the right.
If it's your first munch and you'd like to meet someone before hand, either contact myself or aharlotskismet or Saraphina_Elaine and we are more than happy to meet you before the munch starts.

Twas the night of Wicked, and all through the Hall,

We are changing the date of the dinner munch because it will fall on Easter in April, and Mother's Day in May.
We are moving the Munch to the First Sunday of the month
which will be April 1 and May 6. For those of you who are planning to attend
The parties will remain the same on the third Saturday as regularly scheduled.
