The moon goes through cycles or phases each and every month with each cycle having various associations and meanings. These can be broken down into the following :
New moon: from the day of the New moon to 3 days later health, gardening and farming, job hunting, love and romance
Cresent moon: from 3 days after the New moon through the 7th day change, emotions, animals, and business
Waxing moon: from 7 to 10 days after the New moon motivation, luck, courage, friends
Gibbous moon: from 10 to 13 days after the New moon patience!!!!
Full moon: 14 days after the New moon change and decisions, children, competition, dreams, love, protection, money, self-improvement, healing
Disseminating moon: 3 to 7 days after the Full moon addictions, health, divorce, stress, protection
Waning moon: 7 to 10 days after the Full moon change, enemies, justice, obstacles, quarrels, removal, separation, stopping theft
We will be working with the full moon and the new moon but for reference I have included all the lunar cycles.

February: Snow or Storm moon - time of anticipation toward Spring, last of winter storms are raging as the wheel of the year turns slowly towards Spring.

April: Hare, Wind or Pink moon - this relates to fertility and the Goddess Ostara, a tiem of growth and wisdom, Spring in allit's bounty is around us.
May: Faery or Flower moon - time to celebrate life and love, romance and nature awaits us.
June: Mead, Strawberry or Dyad moon - Spring is behind us as the wheel turns to summer, a time of beginnings, marriage, a time of abundance, success and joy.
July: Herb or Buck moon - heat of summer is upon us with days growing languid and long, time where many people are full of vitality and strength.
August: Barley or Corn moon: first harvest as we gather our herbs, fruit and vegetables, a time when the grain harvest begins turning into breads to thank for the bounty of the harvest.
September: Wine or Harvest moon: harvest is at it's fullest and we celebrate Mother Earth for her bounty, grape harvests are celebrated.
October: Blood or Hunter's moon - time when the meat is gathered for the long winter, giving of thanks for the animals andtheir sacrifice, time of remembrance of ancestors and family traditions, a time of thanks and blessings, veil is thin between the worlds, offerings of food and drink for the spirits on their way.
November: Snow or Beaver moon - cold of winter descends upon Mother Earth once again and the growth cycle comes to an end, giving of thanks to the Mother and looking inward.
December: Oak moon - a time to rejoice as the Oak King returns to his reign and the Holly King now rules, light begins to grow in length, a time of family and home.
Each of the phases of the moon symbolizes aspects of the Goddess.
The New moon is identified with the Maiden or virgin. She is young and beautiful and relates to the Goddess Artemis or Diana. This moon phase is a time of beginnings and growth. It is traditonal to plant herbs when the moon is in Pisces, Cancer or Scorpio.
The full moon symbolizes the Mother. The moon is now seen as being pregnant and corresponds to the Goddess Selene or Luna and is a time of power, ripeness and the honouring of helpers and guides.
The last quarter is associated with the Crone. As a Goddess, she is Hecate and the Celtic Morrigan. The waning moon is a time for divination, overcoming obstacles and relinquishing bad ahbits or thoughts. Weeding the garden and ploughing are done during this part of the moon cycle.
The Goddess Days of the Moon
Days 1-3: Dedicated to Persephone, the initiator
Days 4-6: Ruled by Artemis, the independent one of the wilderness, the impetus behind the newly planted seed
Days 7-9: Kore rules these lunar days and she is seen as the Maiden of Menarche, the link between childhood and adulthood.
Days 10-12: Rules by Hera, queen of heaven and creatrix, representing the power of inspiration.
Days 13-15: Demeter, the nuturer, is ruler.
Days 16-18: Dedicated to Gaia, the Earth Goddess
Days 19-21: In these days, the old woman of the waning moon is Hestia who is the matriarchal grandmother ruling and protecting her family.
Days 22-24: Ruled by Medusa the terrible crone of death and spiritual release, the necessary destruction that allows a new cycle to begin.
Days 25-27: Rules by Hecate the queen of the underworl and the shades who is seen as the one who allows departed souls to choose their path in the next phase of existence and rebirth.
The remaining dark days are those of the Masked Goddess who is present but invisible.
The phases of the moon also have significance in relation to the various workings that are conducted.
