------------
This is the form of divination I was taught by my grandmother. She was a German native and in German Tasse means cup. So, it is actually a preferred divination in Germany. I use tea leaves but you can also interpret coffee grounds as well. Here's some information about it along with some sample interpretations:

By Ellie

The art of reading tea leaves is referred to as Tasseography (or Tasseomancy) and is a divination or fortune-telling method that in western tradition interprets patterns in tea leaves. The term also refers to the reading of coffee grounds, especially in the Middle Eastern tradition. The term has also been applied to the reading of wine sediments. The term derives from the French word tasse (cup), which in turn derives from the Arabic tassa (cup).Tasseography, otherwise known as tasseomancy or tassology, is the art of tea leaf reading. "Tasse" or "tass" is an Arab root, meaning small cup or goblet.

The beverage, Tea, is linked with herbology part of alternative healing. People who seek answers through various forms of divination, such as tea leaf readings, are often healing their issues.

Tea leaf reading is an ancient practice interpreting patterns made by tea leaves in the cup. In addition to the reading of tea leaves, the tradition of tasseography includes the reading of coffee grounds and wine sediments. Although tasseography is commonly associated with Gypsy fortunetellers, the tradition of tea leaf reading arises independently from Asia, the Middle East and Ancient Greece.

Modern tasseography has also been associated with the Scottish, Irish and cultures throughout Eastern Europe.

The significance of the ubiquitous, cross cultural and historical pervasiveness of tea, coffee and sediment reading may be related to the primal human desire for understanding the self. Just as psychological analysis grew prodigiously during the Victorian era, tasseography became popularized as a parlor game. But the practice distinguishes itself from amorphic fortune telling, mystical, occult or other magical activities. Specifically, tasseography is not an application of magic, but rather a tool for tapping into the subconscious by applying meditation to pattern recognition and symbolism.

Tasseography can be a powerful meditative tool providing insights into the reader's subconscious. The significance of symbolism in psychological study finds theoretical foundation from Plato through Carl Jung.

From a modern sociobiological standpoint, procedures such as drinking from the opposite hand, may coordinate left and right brain activity to stimulate creative problem solving. Common sense indicates that slowing down to focus and organize one's own thoughts is an effective problem solving methodology.

The process of tasseography stimulates the imagination to create individualized interpretations and solutions. Tea leaf reading is a fun, healthful and creative way to listen to yourself and open your psychic abilities.

In certain western circles that take this form of divination seriously, it is considered ill-advised for one to attempt tasseography using tea from a cut-open tea bag, to substitute loose coffee in place of tea, or to use a symbol dictionary.

Coffee Grind Reading
Cultures of the Middle East that practice divination in this fashion usually use left-over coffee grounds from Turkish coffee turned over onto a plate.

Traditionally, Turkish coffee is used for this, or any coffee that has grinds that sit at the bottom of the cup. The grinds are necessary to form "pictures" to be interpreted. The drinker of the coffee cannot read his or her own cup. The cup must be read by someone else. Most of the liquid in the coffee is drunk, but the sediment at the bottom is left behind.

There are at least two forms of coffee readings. Both require that the cup be covered with the saucer and turned upside-down. However, some traditions such as in Romania require that the sediments in the cup be swirled around the inside of the cup until they cover the majority of the cup's inside surface. Other traditions such as Armenian and Middle Eastern do not require this swirling but do require that the cup be turned towards yourself for showing your own fortune.

The coffee grinds are given time to settle and dry against the cup before a reading begins. The same is true with tea leaves.

After a reading, in Armenian or Middle Eastern traditions, the drinker will be asked to "open the heart". This is done by placing the right thumb at the inside bottom of the cup and twisting clockwise slightly. This will leave an impression behind that the fortune teller will interpret as the drinker's inner thoughts or emotions.

Symbolism in Grinds and Leaves
Many interpretations for symbols exist, but one common thread is the color of the symbols. Since most cups used are white and the grinds are dark, creating good contrast for the symbols. White is considered as a "good" symbol foretelling of generally positive things for the drinker. The grinds are considered as "bad" symbols foretelling of generally negative things for the drinker.

Symbols can be many things including people, animals, and inanimate objects, etc. As a tea leaf reader, the images often come alive for me, as if a hologram, creating a message. Two or more symbols grouped together will may link to the same message, theme. The closer the symbol to the top of the cup, the sooner the event will happen. The thicker the symbol, the stronger the impact on the person's life.

Most symbols can be read in both a positive or negative context. This is up to the person doing the reading and always subjective. The best way to interpret a symbol is to view it, then use your psychic abilities to make an interpretation.

Here is an example ... You see the letter 'J' - a common letter in these types of readings. Does 'J' refer to a person, place, event, other. Look at the symbols near the 'J'. Is there another 'J'? Take your time and think it through. Skilled psychics can quickly get the answer. It comes with practice and understanding symbolism.

(Pictured: Michaelangelo:" Delphic Sibyl" ---'The Seer')

Seers

People who claimed special knowledge of the divine or supernatural realms have appeared in many myths, legends, folktales, and religious traditions. Those known as seers could see things hidden from others. They had the ability to predict the future or speak for the gods. Others with similar magical gifts have been called diviners, oracles, prophets, and shamans. They are said to have received special wisdom, power, or understanding from deities or spirits, and they have generally had a significant role in religion.

***Seers have used various techniques of divination. In the ancient world, Babylonian*, Egyptian, and Greek seers often relied on the interpretation of dreams to predict the future, believing dreams to be messages or warnings from the gods. Seers and diviners also explained the significance of events thought to be omens. Oracles, such as the famous oracle of Apollo* at Delphi in ancient Greece, were often associated with a particular temple or shrine. They asked questions of the gods on behalf of worshipers or pilgrims and then gave the gods' answers.***

Some seers, claiming to be divinely inspired, spoke on a wide range of issues. In the ancient Near East, prophets and diviners frequently became involved in politics. Hebrew prophets such as Samuel, Elijah, and Amos did not merely foretell the future. They also gave their views on religious practices and social conditions that they believed were wrong.

***Several seers mentioned in Greek myths were associated with Apollo. Mopsus, a seer who took part in the quest for the Golden Fleece*, was sometimes said to be a son of Apollo. The seer Laocoon was a priest of Apollo until he broke his vow by fathering children. The best-known seer of Greek mythology was Tiresias, who had been blinded by the gods. According to some stories, Zeus* gave him the power of prophecy to make up for his loss of sight.***

***The Druids, priests of an ancient Celtic* religion, were said to be seers and magicians. Like the prophets of the ancient Near East, they sometimes held political power as advisers to rulers. The Druid Cathbadh, who advised King Conchobhar of Ulster in Ireland, foresaw the destruction of the kingdom. Druidic ceremonies of divination included human and animal sacrifice.***

In Norse* mythology, the seer Mimir guarded a sacred spring at a root of the World Tree, Yggdrasill. Odin* gained magical knowledge by drinking from the spring, but he had to pay for it by giving one of his eyes to Mimir. The Norse goddess Freyja was also a seer. She introduced the gods to the type of divination called seid, which involved going into a trance and answering questions about the future.
(credit Shen Yun)
Fire Scrying Ritual By Patti Wigingtontag:travelingwithintheworld.ning.com,2014-01-19:2185477:Topic:1954912014-01-19T18:56:17.012ZDept of PMM Artists & thingshttps://travelingwithintheworld.ning.com/profile/Artistsandthings

Scrying is the act of staring into something – often a shiny surface, but not always – for the purpose of divination. Visions and images are then interpreted intuitively by the individual doing the scrying. Many people prefer to scry using shiny surfaces – mirror, a crystal ball, even water – but another popular method is that of fire scrying. This ritual uses the element of fire, which is associated with change, destruction and renewal.

The best way to perform this ritual is outside, but realistically, that’s not always practical or safe. So, find a place, indoors or out, where you can light a large fire that will burn for a while. In a pinch, if you really can’t light a large fire, you can always do this ritual with a single lit candle flame.

Make sure you’ll be undisturbed during this ritual – turn off the cell phone, send the kids and spouse to a movie, and eliminate other distractions. You may want to have a notepad handy so you can write down what you see, and some people find it helpful to play meditative music in the background as they are scrying.

If you normally wear a ritual robe, you may wish to do so, but it’s not required. Likewise, if your tradition requires you to cast a circle, feel free to do so before you begin.

Light your fire (or candle, if that’s what you’re using) and take some time to watch it. Let the flames grow taller and bolder and brighter, as each bit of kindling catches fire. Breathe deeply and evenly, allowing yourself to relax and become comfortable as the fire blazes. When you have a good strong fire going, focus your vision on the center of the dancing flames. Don’t worry about staring too hard, just rest your eyesight wherever is the most comfortable.

Draw the energy of the flames toward you, allowing yourself to feel their power. It can heal or harm, create or destroy. Fire is associated with strong will and power.

Watch as the fire flickers and flashes. Do you see images in the flames? Some people see clear images, while others see shapes in the shadows, mere hints of what is within. Look for images that seem familiar or for those that may repeat in a pattern.

Do you hear sounds as you watch the fire? You may hear the crackling of wood, the roar of larger flames, the snapping of embers. Some people report hearing faint voices singing or speaking in the fire.

Thoughts and ideas may pop into your head, seemingly unrelated to anything you see or hear. Be sure to use your notepad or journal so you can write these things down for future exploration. Spend as much time as you like watching the fire – once you start to get uncomfortable or fidgety, it’s time to wrap things up.

Messages often come to us from other realms and yet we frequently don't recognize them. If a bit of information doesn't make sense, don't worry -- sit on it for a few days and let your unconscious mind process it. Chances are, it will make sense eventually. It's also possible that you could receive a message that's meant for someone else -- if something doesn't seem to apply to you, think about your circle of friends, and who it might be meant for.

When you’re ready to end your scrying session, take a few moments to just relax, looking away from the fire. You may feel a high sense of energy, or an unusual sensation of clarity – if you do, don’t worry, that’s not uncommon.

You can either leave the fire burning, if it will be safe to do so, or you can extinguish it yourself.

Be sure to review your notes later, so you can reflect on the things you’ve seen. If you scry regularly, get in the habit of comparing notes from one session to the next, to see if there are messages or images that appear often.
Palmistry 101: A Guide To Palm Reading For Enchanted Babes! by Christine Narduccitag:travelingwithintheworld.ning.com,2014-01-11:2185477:Topic:1939242014-01-11T01:48:44.780ZDept of PMM Artists & thingshttps://travelingwithintheworld.ning.com/profile/Artistsandthings

Do you want to know your future? Oh come on now, I know you do!

Palmistry has been around for thousands of years, and it’s still popular today. No matter where you came from, everyone is at least a little bit curious about what their hands might tell them.

Obviously, the best way to create a future you’re happy with is to take consistent, positive action every day. But if you want to dabble on the metaphysical side of things, it can be really fun to read your palm!

It’s old-fashioned, I know, but I believe everyone should have a party trick. Being able to read palms is one of the best!

Palmistry is quite easy to learn, and like with any other form of fortune-telling, you get better at it the more you do it. It’s a great thing for shy people, too, because it forces you to interact with others one-on-one, and it gives you something to talk about.

I’ve written a super-simple guide to palmistry below. There are many more lines, mounts, bumps and clues you can read, but I’ve kept it simple… And there are some links at the end if you want to develop your skills further!

Hands

Which palm should you read? Well, ideally, you should read both. The theory is that the left hand shows potential, while the right hand shows what you’ve done with that potential. Some palm readers believe that “the left is what the gods give you, the right is what you do with it”.

There are four major types of hands, which relate to the elements. Your astrological sign might be an Earth sign, for example, but your hand might not be! Here’s how they break down…

Earth hands are wide, with square palms and fingers, thick or rough skin, and ruddy in appearance. The length of the palm is usually equal to the length of the fingers.

People with Earth hands are usually very practical and level-headed. They’d rather get out into the world and do something rather than learn about it. They can be quite conservative, and prefer to be outdoors. If you have Earth hands, cabin fever is real!

Air hands feature square or rectangular palms with long fingers. They often have protruding knuckles, low thumbs, or dry skin. The length of the palm is usually equal to the length of the fingers.

Air types are very intellectual, always curious and full of ideas. They practically hum with nervous energy, and can be prone to worry and stress. People with Air hands are great communicators, but they can internalise their feelings too much. This can lead to difficulties within their close relationships.

Water hands are based on a short, sometimes oval palm, with long, flexible fingers. Their palm is usually wider than it is long, with fingers equal to the height of the palm.

People with Water hands are very emotional. They are always looking for peace, and are extremely artistic. It can be hard for Water hands to deal with stress, and they are mostly motivated by feelings.

Fire hands have a square or rectangular palm, flushed or pink skin, and shorter fingers. The length of the palm is usually greater than the length of the fingers.

Fire hand types are energetic and always on the go. They need variety, and can be a little impatient and intolerant! People with Fire hands are often fiercely individual, and make great leaders.

If your hands are clammy, you are lazy and unstable, but well-intentioned. If it is hot, you are wild and successful, but can be insincere. If your hands are cold, you are generous, reserved and a bit of a hermit!

Lines

The heart line is about any and all matters concerning love.

If your heart line starts under your index finger, you have a satisfying love life. If it starts beneath your middle finger, you are selfish in love. If it starts somewhere in between your first finger and your middle finger, you fall in love easily!

A short heart line denotes little interest in romance. You’d rather do other things! If your heart line touches your life line, it means your heart breaks easily. A long, curvy heart line means you express your feelings with ease and tact. A straight heart line which runs parallel to your life line means you are exceptionally practical in matters of love. A wavy heart line means you will have many lovers, few of them serious… !

If there’s a circle on your heart line, it signifies sadness or depression. A broken heart line, or small lines crossing your heart line, shows emotional trauma of some kind.

The head line shows your intellect or wisdom.

In general, a curvy line denotes creativity and spontaneity, while a straight line favours practicality and structure.

A short head line means you prefer physical accomplishments over intellectual ones; you’d rather go hiking than write an essay. A wavy line shows that you have a short attention span, while a deep, long line is evidence of a clear, focussed thinker. A straight head line means you are a realist.

If your head line is separated from your life line, it means you have a lust for life and an unquenchable thirst for adventure!

If there is a circle or cross in your head line, this denotes an emotional crisis of some kind. Multiple crosses show that you have to make a lot of very big decisions in your lifetime.

The life line is the line of destiny.

It shows your character, as well as any important events that will happen in your life. And don’t worry: contrary to popular belief, the length of the line doesn’t show when you’re going to die!

If your life line is very close to your thumb, it means you have low energy and are often tired. Conversely, a wide, curvy life line shows that you have plenty of energy. If it swoops in a semi-circle, you are strong and enthusiastic. If it’s straight and stays close to the edge of your palm, you are cautious in your relationships.

A long, deep life line shows your inner vitality, while a short and shallow life line means you are easily manipulated by others.

If there’s a circle in your life line, it shows that you will be hospitalised or injured. A break in the line shows major changes in lifestyle.

The fate line can be read in conjunction with the life line to show the future.

By the way, not everyone has a fate line, so don’t feel bad if yours is nowhere to be seen!

A deep fate line shows that you are strongly controlled by destiny. (It’s up to you if you choose to believe that or not!) If there are a lot of breaks in your fate line, it means that external forces will change your life many times.

A fate line that is joined to the life line shows that you are an aspirational, self-made babe. If your fate line starts at the base of your palm, you will find yourself in the public eye often!

Mounts

Reading the mounts is the next step in palmistry, and it’s pretty easy. At the bottom of each finger is a spongy pad — the other side of your knuckle, if you will. All you need to do to “read” the mount is to look at it and gauge the height. There are three heights: high, low or flat. How well-pronounced the mount appears will tell you everything you need to know!

If you find it difficult to tell the relative size of your mounts, just cup your hand slightly and look at it side-on. You will easily see which mounts are larger than others!

The Venus mount is under your thumb. It’s the fleshy bit that your life line curves around. The Venus mount relates to love, intuition, vitality, sensuality and success.

A high Venus mount shows someone who can be promiscuous and overindulgent. Sometimes they can become obsessed with instant gratification. A normal, well-developed Venus mount denotes a person who is influential, and passionate about the arts. If your Venus mount is flat, you have little to no interest in family life. These people also tend to criticise others.

The Jupiter mount is under your index finger. It tells us about your personal philosophies, beliefs and leadership capabilities.

A high Jupiter mount means you are self-centered and aggressive to the point of being dominating. If your Jupiter mount has a normal height, you are intelligent, and an ambitious, natural leader. A low or flat Jupiter mount means you don’t have much self-confidence.

The Saturn mount is under your middle finger. This mount is all about how patient and responsible you are.

A high Saturn mount shows stubbornness, a tendency to be alone, depressed, cynical and shy. If your Saturn mount has a normal amount of elevation, you are responsible and hard-working, friendly and you trust in the Universe. If it is low or flat, this can mean you are superficial and disorganised.

The Apollo (or Sun) mount is under your ring finger. The Sun relates to creative genius, fantasy, imagination and happiness.

A high Sun mount means that you are a prideful person, who loves to flatter others, can be extravagant, but can be quick-tempered. A normal Sun mount shows someone who is adaptable, outgoing and self-confident. A low Sun mount means you are someone with very little imagination. You might find it difficult to make decisions.

The Mercury mount is under your little finger. Mercury is all about wealth, intellect and travel.

An overdeveloped Mercury mount can denote someone who speaks too much, and can be untruthful. They can be greedy, too. A normal Mercury mount means you are thoughtful, versatile, with lots of interests. These people tend to be great in business and able to read others well. A low mount of Mercury shows someone who is shy, unable to communicate, and may not make a lot of money.

The Luna (or Moon) mount runs along the outside of your palm. It starts underneath your little finger, and runs along the side of your hand. The Moon is a sign of imagination, creativity and emotion.

A high Moon mount points to someone who lives so much in their imagination that it crowds out all sense of reality. If you have a well-defined Moon mount, you have extraordinary creative abilities. You love the arts, are compassionate, and have psychic abilities. A low or flat Moon mount denotes someone who lives in her head, but doesn’t share it with others. She may be a bit of a loner, with pessimistic tendencies.

Fingers

Thumb shapes
Large thumbs belong to people who are opinionated workaholics with high energy and plenty of self-control. If your thumb bends towards your palm, you can be a little cold and indifferent. A thumb which bends outwards demonstrates a generous nature. A thumb that is bent out and backwards is called a “killer’s thumb” — hey, I didn’t make it up!

Finger shapes
Long fingers show someone who is anxious, delicate, good-looking and well-mannered. Short fingers belong to the impatient, creative and highly-sexed! Pointed fingers denote someone who is well-intentioned, but scatterbrained.

Fingernail shapes
Long fingernails mean you are kind and you’re good at keeping secrets! If they’re long and thin, you are quite psychic, and easily annoyed! Long, large fingernails mean you are shy and a bit of a hermit.

Almond-shaped fingernails belong to people who are sweet, kind and extremely diplomatic.

Rectangular fingernails denote someone who is practical and logical. You like things to be explained, and you always wear sensible shoes.

Short fingernails show someone who is critical and sarcastic. Extremely short fingernails mean you have no self-control whatsoever! If your nails are short and large, you are sad, depressed easily and a little unstable. Short, straight nails belong to those who are filled with envy. Short, rounded nails mean you are a bit judgmental and love too

Just as you might say, "Hey, didn't there used to be a fast food joint on this corner?" on your familiar drive to work, seeing things pop up near the lines on your palm can be noticeable and more easy to watch. Lines do change, and for some people they may deepen, lengthen, or lighten and become less noticeable more quickly than for others. Keep your eyes on the road with these major lines on the hand:

Heart line: Starting from the top of your hand, the heart line is the highest major line most people have. It starts at the percussive side of the hand, travels through the top middle area of the palm, and terminates under or within one of the mounts. The heart line has to do with your love life, not only the way you seek and find love, but the process of dating and marriage as a journey rather than a destination. Some people have the head and heart line joined as one, which is called a simian crease.

Head line: Under the heart line, most people who don't have lines fused as a simian crease have a head line crossing the middle of the palm, starting near the webbing of the thumb and pointer finger, and traveling to terminate somewhere in the middle of the palm. The head line is your intellectualism, the way you think, and the way you think about thinking. The head line can hold clues about how you interpret the world.

Life line: The life line also starts near the webbing between the thumb and pointer finger and swoops wide around the thumb to terminate somewhere in the middle of the palm or at the bottom near the wrist. Your life line represents your journey through life including health, travel, and living situation.

Destiny line: Many people have a rising line of Saturn that crosses the very middle of the palm vertically, starting somewhere near the bottom of the palm and rising up to terminate somewhere near your middle finger, or at least pointing vaguely in that direction from the middle of the palm. Don't freak out if you don't have a destiny line, as some people do not. This line, if present, has the same associations as the Saturn mount and finger, and often has to do with career and money.

Jupiter line: Some people have a line of Jupiter rising vertically underneath the pointer finger, having to do with leadership roles and other associations with the Jupiter mount and finger.

Apollo line: Some people have a rising line of Apollo vertically under the ring finger, having to do with the way they seek recognition and creative influence in the world, along with other Apollo mount and finger associations.

Mercury line: Some people have a rising line of Mercury vertically under the pinkie finger, having to do with communications with others, roles in their families, and helping others in their community, along with other Mercury mount and finger associations.

Wouldn't it be great if you could have a warning system in place to let you know when the work day is about to be so brutally horrible that you might as well just stay in bed? Actually, everybody has access to such a warning system, and it lies right in the palm of your hand. Palmistry is an oft-overlooked way to tap into your destiny as a work in progress. Most people think that a palm reading is a one-time thing, like an astrological natal chart, but your palms can actually change over time.

Don't believe me? Make a photocopy of both palms of your hands today, and then photocopy them in the same machine six months later, or even sooner. You'll notice the lines on your palms deepening or getting shallower, forking, or even disappearing. Every palm reading is a snapshot of a map of your potential life path, but some markings can change in days or even hours. So, your palm is less like a permanent map and more like a GPS. When you wake up in the morning, you can look for blessings or serious warning signs in order to steer your life in the right direction. Start by looking at your active hand, which should be your dominant hand.

Top Ten Signs That You Should Stay In Bed and Not Go to Work Today

Ring of Saturn
A Ring of Saturn is a line that cups below your middle finger. It represents a serious barrier to your goals, especially those that pertain to your sense of duty and your finances. So, rather than being a red flag about dangers at work, a Ring of Saturn appearing one morning means that there may be a deeper and more philosophical problem with your job not aligning with your values, hopes, and dreams. Not only should you call in sick to work, but you should spend the day sprucing up your résumé and finding employment that is more conducive to your material and financial well-being.

Shallow or Chaining Lines
How do the lines in the palms of your hands normally look? Everybody has a different natural state of the lines in their hands; some people have deep channels, while others have thin and shallow lines that look like a string of islands or a chain. The depth of your lines represent spiritual and vital energy, and like a river—deeper is better. Some people naturally "run cool" on a shallow or chained flow of energy in their lines. However, if you normally have deep channels that suddenly become more shallow and faint, it is a big warning sign that you are running on empty and about to be burned out physically and spiritually.

A Grid or a Grille
A grid or grille generally looks roughly like a tic-tac-toe board, and can be large or small, found anywhere in the palm. Grids and grilles represent barriers and obstacles that can be frustrating, but that can be surmounted with Herculean effort. If you're looking for a laid-back day at work, the appearance of a grid or a grille means you'll have anything but, especially if it is located along the midline of your hand under your middle finger where your destiny line and signs about your work life and financial duties lie.

Unusual Flexibility
The Yoga industry depends on the idea that increased flexibility is a good thing, and in general it is. However, if you suddenly wake up one day noticing increased flexibility in your active hand, you should be aware of two things. The first is your angle of generosity, in between your thumb and pointer finger. If this angle suddenly becomes wider, you are giving too much of yourself, and opportunities for a raise at work or advancement may be slipping through your fingers. The second is your angle of eccentricity between your pinky finger and your ring finger. If this angle suddenly becomes wider, you may be going off the beaten path without the support of your boss or coworkers, to the point where you might be angling to get fired.

Blue, Black, Yellow, or Grey Dots
Colored dots are the quickest changes that can appear or disappear on the hand. You might hop into the shower in the morning with your hands looking normal, but emerge to see a brightly colored dot appearing somewhere in your palm. Look especially for those that are forming on that midline underneath your middle finger for warnings about your work day. Yellow dots can show your energy running low and your patience wearing thin, so conserve yourself. Blue dots represent depression, while greyish or blackish dots can represent endings and limitations that can be rather unpleasant.

Adversity Lines
Adversity lines begin on the thumb edge of your hand, below your thumb, and sweep up onto the fleshy base of your palm from which your thumb protrudes. Each of these lines represents an adversary or an enemy in your life, and if you have one or more of these appear before you head off to work it is a big warning sign. A coworker or boss may be out for blood, so you'd better lay low and not take the blame for anything.

Worry Lines
Worry lines are natural for some people. These tiny and numerous lines appear for some to radiate down from the base of your thumb. Watch those worry lines to see if they are multiplying. It can be especially problematic if you notice those worry lines spreading so far down your palm that they cross your life line, that curved line that wraps around the muscular flesh where your thumb joins your palm. Such long worry lines show that your work troubles may be getting so stressful that they are affecting your physical health. You might be heading for a mental breakdown or even a heart attack.

Star
A star is the classic warning sign that makes palm readers gasp in horror. But actually, stars aren't really that rare, and most people will have a star make at least a brief appearance at some point in their lives. The sudden appearance of a deep star made up of lines, however, represents a serious conflict that could change the course of your life. You may want to retreat to your bed or even take some vacation time to rethink your goals.

Poison Line
A poison line is a horizontal line that begins very low on the percussive edge of your palm (the one opposite your thumb that you would use to make a Karate chop motion). It crosses almost all the way across the palm to the fleshy mount at the base of your thumb. If you have a poison line normally, it means that you are sensitive to allergens or toxins in your environment. If it suddenly appears one day, beware of your home or work environment, because there is something downright dangerous in your surroundings.

Overall Change in Color, Puffiness, Temperature, Stiffness, Texture, or Moisture
Okay, so you don't have to be a psychic to know that if you wake up with a fever and chills, feeling stiff and bloated, with clammy, pale hands that you're downright ill. However, your hands can show these signs more quickly than other parts of your body. Like the colored dots mentioned earlier, subtle changes to the tint of your skin may have those corresponding symbolic meanings. Stiffness that isn't brought on by arthritis or illness can signal inflexibility in your way of doing things that is going to cause you problems in life. Skin that is too thin or too thick can represent oversensitivity or callousness, respectively, when dealing with coworkers. All of these signs can be clues to an underlying source of illness or oncoming burn-out that has to be addressed before you go back to the grindstone.

So, the next time you notice any one of these top ten signs, you can go ahead and blame me as your personal psychic when you call in sick to work. Take a personal day or a mental health day to reevaluate your life's direction. Don't ignore any of your body's cues, especially those from your palms—which reflect your destiny. After a little time of reflection, you can return to your work with renewed vigor, or perhaps even take the responsibility for finding a new job into the palms of your hands.
Favomancytag:travelingwithintheworld.ning.com,2013-11-24:2185477:Topic:1922142013-11-24T17:59:04.910ZDept of PMM Artists & thingshttps://travelingwithintheworld.ning.com/profile/Artistsandthings

Favomancy is a form of divination that involves throwing beans on the ground and interpreting the patterns into which the beans fall; it is therefore a type of cleromancy. Various forms of favomancy are present across the world's cultures. The term comes from the Latin faba for "bean" and formed by analogy with the names of similar divination methods such as alectromancy.

Favomancy used to be practised by seers in Russia, in particular, among the Ubykh. Russian methods of favomancy may still exist after the departure of the Ubykhs from the Caucasus in 1864, but the details are now lost of exactly how Ubykh soothsayers interpreted the patterns formed by the beans. The Ubykh term for a favomancer simply means "bean-thrower", and it later became a synonym for all soothsayers and seers in general in that language.

In Muslim traditions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, favomancy is is called bacanje graha 'bean-throwing' or falanje (from Persian fal 'to bode'). The fortune-teller places 41 white beans onto a flat surface, dividing them into smaller groups using a complex set of rules. The resulting number of beans in each group is then interpreted as a favorable or unfavorable sign for the different aspects of life represented by each of the groups.

Both Russian and Bosnian methods are remarkably similar, and likely share a common origin. Since the method is not present in the West, it is possible that the origin might be in the Middle East. A similar method exists in Iran, involving fifty-three peas.

When most people think of holistic health, numerology doesn’t spring to mind. I know I didn’t think of numerology as a part of a balanced healing regime. At first glance, one wants to relegate numerology to simple fortune telling and associate it with the arts of prediction, including astrology, tarot, pendulums, and runes. Though each is surrounded with an air of mystique and a lot of superstitions, all of these oracle systems can be a part of a whole health plan. On the surface, people think of systems such as numerology as tools for prediction, control, and learning your fate, but each is a complex system of spiritual psychology, helping us understand the root issues we face that influence our health on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels.

When I think of an age where there was a synthesis between mind, body, art, and logic, I think back to the civilization of ancient Greece. Schooling in ancient Greece often included a number of disciplines, from poetry and wrestling to logic and math. Though not a perfect society by any means, they looked to the whole person, much like modern holistic professionals. Greek medicine was a mixture of science, psychology, and spirituality, but in many ways it was far more advanced for its time than we give it credit. Even now, we draw upon the symbol of Hermes, the caduceus, the staff entwined with serpents, as our modern medical symbol. A pivotal teaching of the Greeks is the study of numbers.

Mathematics is the language of the universe. I hate to admit it. I was never very good in school with math, but it is a fundamental constant. Everything can be measured in terms of distance and time. Different cultures have different ways of expressing numerological concepts, but the underlying math, expressed as geometry, connects everything. We find it in our structures and buildings, in our body, in our very DNA and now in computer code. There is no escaping the power of numbers. But if you understand their power, you can flow more smoothly with the forces of life.

Understanding how numbers affect your life is the key concept of numerology. Esotericists often refer to the “vibration” of things—from plants, stones, medicines, people, environments, and even numbers. Vibrations refer to an unseen energy, a psychic energy we haven’t quite learned how to quantify scientifically, yet it still affects us. These vibrations create the “good” vibes or “bad” vibes we feel when we meet a new person or enter a new location. They aren’t good or evil necessarily, but tell us how and what is most compatible with our own vibration. Vibrational healing, through energy work, flower essences, and visualization is a key component to holistic health. Practitioners believe that altering your vibration alters your health and that you can literally shift your health through working with techniques that change your energy—your vibration. Numbers are a way of representing these vibrational energies. Knowing what is inherent in your make up helps you work with the forces you already carry, and therefore plan for future challenges to your life on all levels.

Numerologists use a system of characteristics for each number. They find the numbers influencing you by adding up the digits of the numbers in your life. Most popular methods include adding the digits in your birthday to show your “destiny” number. Others will use the numbers of the year to show how the coming year will affect you. I’ve seen numerologists use the numbers of your home address and office building to find their influence upon you. All the numbers in your life have separate and joint significance. The day, month and year all carry specific vibrations. Learning how to mix and match the numbers, as well as interpret their broad meaning, makes numerology both an art and a science, much like astrology. For the best consideration, it is always better to get a personal interpretation of how you are expressing the numbers, rather than rely on a computer-generated reading, though the latter can be quite helpful in certain cases.

In Numerology for Beginners, Gerie Bauer helps us calculate some of these numbers. To find your Destiny number, she instructs us to:

Add together the number value of your month, day and year of birth, and reduce the total to a single digit. For example, if you were born on August 16, 1929, you would add:

August (number value) 8

Date 16

Year 1929

TOTAL: 1953

Reduce this total to a single digit: 1+9+5+3=18, and 1+8=9. Therefore, the Destiny number for this birth date would be 9.

Bauer tells us that on the day when you were born “certain powers were bestowed upon you that will be with you your whole life long. Since this date is unalterable, its personal vibrations shape every event or incident in your life span. The only choice you have in regard to your destiny is to follow either the negative or the positive aspects of it.” Your Destiny number is much like your astrological Sun sign. It stays with you, but you choose how to express its powers. The more you learn its “lessons” the more you refine your expression of the power and live a healthier, happier life.

Not only do you have a life-long Destiny number, but also a Personal Year number. Bauer also says, “Every year has its own particular powers that fit neatly into an overall pattern when used properly. Knowing what year to begin planning, what year you will meet influential people, when to get down to the nitty-gritty and when you can expect to attain your goal is undeniably a great asset. It’s like being in the right place at the right time, and who can argue with the success of that premise?” On page 24 of Numerology for Beginners, she instructs us on how to find our Personal Year:

To find the number of your Personal Year, add together the number of the month and day of your birth, plus the current year. Example: If the month and day of your birth is December 6, and the current year 1999, add 3 (1+2 for December) + 6 (the date) +1+9+9+9=37. Reduce 37 to a single digit; 3+7=1, which is then the number of the Personal Year for that birthday.

Once you know your numbers, how do you interpret them? Well, each numerologist might have different correspondences to the numbers. One using a symbol of magical numerology from the Qabalah will differ from a more mainstream New Age numerologist. Interpretations of the numbers vary from looking at destiny number, to personal year, or to the numbers of your month, day, or week.

The work of Steven Scott Pither helps us find our own interpretation of the numbers by understanding the theory, symbols, and spiritual basis of each. His Complete Book of Numbers is a more spiritual and esoteric view of numbers in our lives, spiritual development, and historic perspective. Pither looks at the development of numerology from the ancient Greeks to the modern form. He explores the spiritual meaning of numbers and the mathematic process such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. On page 133, he gives social stereotypes for each of the numbers that can be very helpful in our understanding of them in our daily lives:

Social Stereotypes Comparable to the Numbers

Egomaniac; Number One; Self-Start; Leader of the Pack

Wall Flower; Help Mate; Nervous Nellie; Team Player

Layabout; Word Smith; Chatter Box; Song and Dance Man; The Good Life

Drudge; Honest Abe; Workaholic; Never Say Die

Life of the Party; Wheeler-Dealer; Glad Hander; City Slicker; Playboy; Roustabout

Homebody; Doormat; Florence Nightingale; Shrink; Family Man; Pillar of the Community

The Thinker; Egghead; Strong Silent Type; Bookworm; Hermit

King of the Hill; Top Dog; Social Climber; Mr/Mrs Millionaire; Overachiever, Power Broker

Armchair Philosopher; Do Gooder; Sacrificial Lamb; Saint; Miracle Worker

Lastly, numerology can help us in all types of relationships, but particularly in matters of love. When there is harmony in the heart, our health on all levels improves. Margaret Arnold, in Love Numbers, outlines a system of numerology based on the numbers of your name, and how compatible your name vibration is with a partner.

To begin working with a name, use the chart to figure out the value of each letter in the full name. This is done by matching the letters of the name with their number equivalent, such as is done in the following examples:

MARY 4 1 9 7

JOHN 1 6 8 5

VALERIE 22 1 3 5 9 9 5

KENNETH 11 5 5 5 5 2 8

LEE 3 5 5

Next, the letters are added to find the total value of a name.

The system uses master numbers, or double numbers such as 11, 22, and 33 and can chart out compatibility and issues that arise as the relationship develops. To the benefits of numerology, Arnold says:

The value of knowing the compatibility between people is that you can have insight into how relationships between people work. You can get a feel for what is likely to happen within relationships and how to handle what happens. Understanding the people involved and the relationships between them, or between them and yourself, can help work out the relationship. When you understand that people are what their vibrations are, as shown by their numerology numbers, then you have more insight into why people do what they do. From this insight comes tolerance.

To have an idea of compatibility ahead of time makes things easier. It can cut down on time spent “looking for” compatibility by trial and error. It can enhance the depth of love in your life, and the quality of that love. A simple knowledge of numerology will help you accept and understand others better.

Numerology is a tool to understand yourself and the energies you carry in this life. Only through greater understanding of yourself can you understand others and have compassion for them. This compassion for self and others is at the root of many world religions and systems of healing. I believe compassion and love are as necessary in the healing formula as medicine and remedies. Use numerology to help your understanding of the universe. Seek out your patterns, your weaknesses and strengths, so you can choose to create your own health, and the health of this world, in a fully-conscious manner.

Chaldean numerology has traveled a rather bumpy road since its birth in ancient Mesopotamia thousands of years ago. In later years, for a variety of reasons, people needed a simpler system to work with—and thus, Chaldean suffered an NDE (metaphorically speaking, of course). While most thought the subject dead, a group of low-key scholars kept it on life support for another few thousand years, during which time it was carefully studied and passed down to further caretakers. Only recently has it begun its long-awaited rebirth into the land of the living...and the interest in this mystical oracle keeps growing, undoubtedly because it has proven itself to be the most accurate, inspiring, enlightening, challenging and rewarding alpha-numerology system in existence.

Chaldean numerology surpasses others in that its birth was based on sound and symbol connections—not only does it consider the numeric vibrations in a name, it affords equal attention to the meanings of the characters each name is composed of. Nevertheless, it was still the most difficult of all systems to wrap a brain around—so could this complex system be simplified to the point that everyone could use it and understand how to invite the most satisfaction, success and spiritual enlightenment into their lives?

Good question, right? One I pondered long and hard...and then put the system to work over a period of twenty years. Along the way, I kept notes—reams of them—and then simplified it so that exactly that could happen: everyone could understand it. Here is just a sample of what Chaldean numerology can reveal once you know the language, so to speak. What follows is a respectful look at one name and is intended only as an introductory to the mysterious world of Chaldean alpha-numerology.

I know you all recognize the name Llewellyn. This company name has remained the same for over 110 years, and its letter and number contents speak to its outside image, interior activities, character, strengths, and the pattern created by the energetic cycle it passes though every 34 years (which is the total number of all letters in this name unit: i.e L=3, E=5, etc.) and its overall essence, which is the enigmatic but brilliant brain-ruled number 7 (which we will have a quick look at later).

The most prominent letters in this name are the (very rare) opening double L (ruled by 3) factors and the identical (extremely rare) double L energies repeated later. The L is helpful: it is the Helping Hand...its original meaning connected to ancient cattle prods whose goal was to promote progress by offering gentle tail-lifts to striking cattle. While the first L serves as the Cornerstone (the first letter of any given word), the second L intensifies these attributes and can thereby also create conflict, because we all know that too much of a good thing can wind up being...well, too much of a good thing. As mentioned, this pattern is repeated later in the name unit which then presents two separate and subtle Master 33 energies (33 equals the Healer of the Masses—quite appropriate when considering the goal of this Company as reflected in their Vision Statement: To be the world’s leading supplier of works for personal growth and the transformation of body, mind, and spirit).

These L vibrations are ruled by the 3, which represents constant activity of both the brain and the body (interior functioning of the Company), with the ultimate goal being the amalgamation of the body, mind, and spirit into a product. The aforementioned conflict may arise when the Company is inundated with manuscripts, ideas, and other projects; while Llewellyn would truly love to be able to publish them all, this is simply not a viable option. That is where the additional theme of the Master 33 comes in: sacrifice. Here, it would be around which topics and authors are short-listed and which are regretfully laid aside. The repetition later in the name indicates that this is a recurring or cyclical event...and it can definitely cause conflict when a few editors knock heads over any particular book.

The second most prominent letter is the E, which appears twice, but in different placements. The first one exaggerates the double L characters, and since the E is the most enthusiastic, enduring, evolving, and sometimes excessive energy, it indicates periods of time when the incoming projects can be overwhelming, while the second placement takes Llewellyn into the second set of double L energies. Both symbols speaks to freedom. Freedom of speech, freedom of choice, and freedom of thought—in a word, independence, which is exactly what Llewellyn is—one of the largest and oldest independent publishing houses in modern history.

Further, the E talks about constant change...which each season of publication would definitely bring. There is much more to the E than can be shared here, but suffice it to say that this is the most powerful, progressive, and potent letter—it is sheer energy—and heavy doses can be a bit like receiving a needle of adrenaline straight to the heart of the matter. It gets things moving: the mind engages, the body activates, and the spirit soars...both E values in Llewellyn supply continual, electrically-charged sustenance to the core of this Company.

The 5 this letter is ruled by is very similar in meaning: it is freedom, communication, changes, independence, travel...and as such, might create absolute chaos within the Company but for the saving grace of its center placement in the traditional number scale of 1-10. Imagine sitting in the centerpoint of a teeter-totter while it is in motion; this is the nature of the 5: it keeps and maintains balance even through the highs and lows—or the most trying and challenging of times. (Including the N, there are three 5 values in this name, which is highly fortuitous in terms of balance.) Also worthy of note is that this is the only number to which fame is attached...and these same 3 indicators speak to the fame this Company has achieved while also providing the springboard for successful authors who have been published through this house.

The center of this name revolves around the W, which is symbolic of the highs and lows of a roller coaster in that the high points of the letter itself are separated by the low valleys in between. This letter is reaching up, striving for spiritual guidance and is not one to give up; it is a warm and welcoming vibration that is backed by the emotional and loving 6. This combination presents a wide and wondrous way of looking at things and is among the most loyal of energies. When one looks at the word WE as found in Llewellyn, the suggestion of an all-encompassing group speaks volumes; this incorporates the Company and the writers and the readers, everyone who is intrinsic in achieving the common goal: to share information, healing tools, helpful advice, old and new knowledge, and anything else that can assist in the development of mankind. There is, after all, a very deep and unplumbed WELL of knowledge. This last word can also be used when connected to the spiritual state of all: We (are) Well. Or that is our aim. To be connected and to be spiritually healthy.

Every thirty-four years or so, Llewellyn will hit the fork in the road: the Y. This is a choice imposed or a choice made that has the potential to completely alter the direction of the Company, and while this Y often carries an overall message that impacts the name energy on a constant basis, it also can highlight one year periods when pronounced shifts take place. For example, during the late 1960s, an unexpected resurgence of interest in the metaphysical forever changed the path of the Company. In 1969, the year of the Y, new directions were taken, new clients discovered, and new life injected into the Company. Llewellyn's path changed, dramatically and forever.

This letter is ruled by number 1: the beginner, the starter, the initiator, and the pioneer, which supports the consequences of choosing either road: it will be a new beginning. A different angle of this Y cycle (which lasts 1 year) came soon after the original purchase of the Company (1901), when Llewellyn George published the first year-long Moon Sign Book, which has been published every year since 1905. The Y indicates the option of taking the road well-traveled versus the road barely visible, and it is obvious that Llewellyn chose to take the road less traveled and in doing so, paved the way for others to follow.

The final letter energy is the N, which is, as mentioned, also ruled by 5. Long ago, this symbol was connected to the fish, which represented nourishment for the body and the soul—which is pretty darn close to the ideal description of this Company and the service it provides. Another aspect of this final positioning is also ideal; the N is seen as an energy filter: that which comes through this filter is mellowed and transformed into softer vibes. It throws a normal and neutral blanket over the entire picture.

So this brief run-through of the highly-respected energy that is Llewellyn should give you an idea of how this process works, although it is much more involved when assigned to Name and Lifepath analysis for a person.

And I would be remiss if I did not elaborate on the 7 this name is ruled by (this is the total sum, after reduction, of the entire name). But first, a quick observation: the four L energies are upside down versions of the 7. The W also holds two slightly quirky 7 energies within its structure, as does the N. Interesting?

The 7 is the number of the brain, and its lesson is to incorporate both sides of the brain into one powerful unit. One type of the 7 lives in the lab of the Scientist and represents logic, facts and figures, scientific data, controlled progression, practicality, and non-emotive exteriors, while the other lives in the land of the Metaphysician: anything esoteric, mystical, paranormal, thought-provoking, artistic, and spiritual appeals to them and can even become their life’s work. Consider the two sides below.

The name Llewellyn houses a group of thinking energies that are focused in the logic and practicality of good choices versus bad ones. Thinking ahead, planning, calculating, considering, and then reaching decisions and instigating production. All involve the logical and most effective use of data accessed through the scientific side of the brain; no emotion, just the facts please. This is a realistic place to be.

The name Llewellyn also houses a group of thinking energies that produce metaphysical and spiritual products that are all about hope and faith. Learning to accept, heal, renew, and to love the self and others. All involve the metaphysical and the purest of spiritual or occult categories for those seeking answers that lie beyond science, and the intuition plays a key role. This is magickal place to be.

Llewellyn is both: it is the ideal blend of the Scientist with the Metaphysician, which is the goal of the 7. That said, this is a rarity: a sparkling gem in the land of spiritual knowledge and education. It is truly unusual to find a balanced 7, and how perfectly appropriate it is for this Company and its activities.

And it is the publisher of my first book (Chaldean Numerology for Beginners: How Your Name and Birthday Reveals Your True Nature and Life Path), to boot. I am very fortunate and blessed. As are we all.

Namaste.
Heather Lagan
