ESTRELLA WAR XXVII (February 14-21, 2011)

Estrella War is a week-long, annual event hosted by the Kingdom of Atenveldt, one of 19 Kingdoms (regional chapters) of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), a not-for-profit educational organization that studies western European history by recreating the "best" pastimes and crafts of the Middle Ages. SCA participants devote their free time to tournaments, educational collegiums (classes), feasts, revels, the many forms of medieval warfare, and all sorts of arts and sciences dating from pre-1600s western Europe. Currently in its 27th year, the Estrella War brings together participants from SCA chapters around the world to conduct a medieval style two-sided war between SCA Kingdoms.

Each year, the Kingdom of Atenveldt asks one or more other SCA Kingdoms to participate as Principal Kingdoms at Estrella War. The participating Kingdoms then form alliances to form two opposing Allied Realms. They meet in competition during the week of the event in campaigns waged by heavy combat and rapier armies on the battlefield, in a target archery competition, and in a competition using Arts & Sciences skills from the Middle Ages. For Estrella War XXVII (Feb 2011), the Kingdom of Atenveldt is pleased to announce that the Kingdom of the Outlands has accepted an invitation to participate as a Principal Kingdom. The Kingdom of Atenveldt and it's allies will form one Allied Realm in the conflict, and the Kingdoms of the Outlands and it's allies will form the opposing Allied Realm.

Estrella War offers all the members of your family a chance to spend a week camping and living with thousands of others as part of a medieval town with a robust Merchant’s Row. Held in February at Canyon Moon Ranch in Florence, AZ, the event provides those who are interested in things Medieval with a diverse combination of the exciting activities offered by the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). We invite you to explore the details of the event on these webpages, and to come join us in the warm Atenveldt Sun for a Glorious escape from the modern world!

I have once again been honored with the ability to autocrat The Festival for the Passing of the Ice Dragon in the spring of 2011. The actual date is March 26th 2011 and it will be held at the Connecticut Street Armory, 187 Connecticut St. Buffalo, NY 14201, the same location as last year.

We are making, what we hope, to be some great changes in the layout and overall structure of this year’s event. All of your comments have been read, logged, and charted so that this year’s staff knows precisely what is desired by their department.

The tavern is getting a long overdue face lift by Her Ladyship Ysabeau Tiercelin, The merchants’ row is under the direction of Lady Murigel Ingen Ghoilla Chomhgail, the Pentathlon is under the guidance of Maitresse Yvianne de Castel d'Avignon and is looking to be one of the best ever.

These are just a few of the officers of Ice Dragon, if you wish to know more of the changes and plans of the rest of the staff including the skinny on the tournaments look to the Æstel. Each month there will be an article or two from each officer describing why you should not miss this year’s Festival for the Passing of the Ice dragon.

These articles will also be available on the Events web-site: “http://www.ice-dragon.info/” along with news of contests, challenges, displays and more.

I look forward to seeing all of you in the Rhydderich Hael For another exciting Ice Dragon,

Yours In Service,
Augusto Giuseppe da San Donato

Call for Presenters for LIFE Detroit's DARK 7 Weekend

Each year, during the first weekend of February, the Leather Institute for Education (LIFE) Detroit hold an event known as the Detroit Area's Rough & Kinkfest (DARK) Weekend. This year, the event will be held February 4-6, 2011.

The event, which began in 2005, is an educational weekend where LIFE Detroit invites in local, national and international presenters to discuss topics of importance in the Leather/BDSM/Kink community, as well as provide hands-on demonstrations of various play and techniques used by members of the Community.

I would like to invite you to be a presenter at our DARK 7 weekend.

Please submit a description of the class or classes that you are interested in presenting/demonstrating and a brief description of what would be covered in your presentation/demonstration. This should include objectives for the class. Presentations run 50 minutes during the Saturday of the event (February 5, 2011.) Our attendees will have all levels of experience.

A current biography and a photo that can be used on the website or in program materials should also be submitted when you submit your class proposal.

These items should be emailed to vicepresident@lifedetroit.com and must be received no later than Wednesday, November 17, 2010

Keep in mind that the venue is in a semi-public location (hotel) and standard Michigan rules apply€ ¦’·no nudity, a jock may be worn, but must have at least a 1" strap covering the crack of the ass, genitals must remain covered, womens breasts may be exposed, but the nipples must be covered, etc. You class would have to conform to these guidelines.

LIFE Detroit is willing to entertain a proposal on any topic, but we will have the final decision on what we feel would be best for the crowd we are trying to reach.

On Friday night of the weekend (February 4) we host a "Bottom's Buffet." This is a night were we set up several different stations manned by some of our weekend presenters. It allows people who may never have experienced a flogging (for instance) to get a sample of it (10-20 minutes or so) without engaging in an entire scene. It allows people to experience play they may never have tried so they can see if they like it or not, or it may allow people to experience techniques on a skill they love, but at the hands of a different person. We hope you will consider being a part of this event, also. If you are interested, please let me know what station(s) you would be interested in doing.

If you have questions about this letter, or about DARK Weekend, please let me know. I may be reached via email at hardguy24u@aol.com or by cell phone at (734) 260-2388

We look forward to having you as part of our weekend.
And remember€ ¦’·Don't be afraid of the DARK.
