Some Possibilities to Help in this Economy

I am still mulling this over to make sure it is something that will help people get the things they want with the worlds financial situation.
I am thinking of offering a payment plan (like lay away). This way people can choose how much they pay with each payment, how often they send a payment and how long they have to pay the piece(s) off. The first payment  would need to be enough to buy, at least some of, the materials to get me started and the last payment would need to include the shipping and paypal fees. It could be weekly, monthly or maybe even sporadically depending on when you will have money to pay toward the item. Of course this will come with a small percentage fee for holding the piece(s) and if it is an item that was a custom piece made just for you and I buy the materials the price of that material will be lost to you if you decide against finishing the payments. I am still working on the process but it may help for those that are serious about what they want.

Upcoming Projects

For the Medieval / Renaissance / Fantasy people, I am working on some designs for Viking and Celtic period jewelry pieces. I found a bunch of ancient artifact designs that I don't see many others making at this point.
I am still working on getting the Steampunk designs up and going. I want my Steam gear to be different then other artisans so they don't blend in with everyone else's gear stuff.
I also have some Motorcycle work coming. I will be doing some acid etching on motorcycle parts to see how they turn out.

Group Discounts and Wholesale

I offer group discounts and wholesale on my products when at least 10 pieces are bought. If you would like more info on group discounts or wholesale please contact me via email at valhallasanvil@yahoo.com.

Custom Designs for Your Artwork

Are you an artist that wants to see his artwork on metal or leather? If you have a one of a kind piece of art that you would like to see come to life on metal or leather I can help! If it is something you don't mind me making to sell to other people, using your name as the original artisan of course, we may be able to work out a discount on the pieces you want for yourself. If they are really great sellers we may be able to work out a percentage on the ones I sell!

Custom Ordering our Handmade Jewelry Craft

If you know exactly what you are looking for already please contact me at valhallasanvil@yahoo.com or message me on one of the chat sites under the Product Links tab. If you are still not sure of what future ancient artifact I can make for you, please look at the list below to get some ideas on different metals and ways of finishing them off.
Most things can be made from your designs. A crisp clean jpeg copy of the design can be emailed to me and I can work from there. Prices will vary with materials, size and intricacy of design.
If you are a member of a club, organization or Medieval / Renaissance house hold and would like to go in on a group discount to get multiples of the same pieces please contact me for pricing.
Also if you are a retail vendor and would like something made, for you to sell, I also have wholesale pricing available! Contact me for those prices also.

Metals

Due to the high cost of precious metals I cannot offer gold, platinum etc. unless you are willing to pay for enough that if I mess up I still have enough to finish the piece.
For right now the four metals listed below and some bronze are the jewelry metals I can work in.

silver

Picture
My favorite metal of all to work with! The only drawback to silver is the price is now over $40 US per ounce. That means the custom piece shown above at the $6 per ounce price sold for $400 back then at today's prices I couldn't get the metal for that!

nickle

Picture
Nickle, also called German Silver or Nickle Silver, is my new silver. It is not quite as easy to work with as silver, but it costs less so I don't have to worry as much about ruining a piece. Nickle dulls over time, sort of like a nickle does, but easily polishes to a shine when put to a buffing wheel. Some people have expressed an allergic reaction to nickle. Please find out if you are allergic before ordering.

copper

Picture

My second favorite metal to work with. Copper is easy to work and stays annealed (soft) longer then most metals, but it softens easily under a flame (when soldering) and for some people it turns the skin green. I am told this is due to the bodies need for copper and it taking it straight from the metal. Copper is also said to help with some medical problems.

brass

Picture

A beautiful yellow metal that is easily cleaned and polished once it oxidizes. It has a high copper content so it may turn some skins green. It work hardens easily, sometimes to easily, and must be annealed many times while forging and shaping or has a tendency to crack or split. Not as bad as some bronzes though.

Ways of Finishing

These are just a few of the ways I have finished my jewelry off. Please email me with questions you may have on other finishing techniques. Sorry I haven't always been able to get pictures of my work as some of my best pieces have been made in the middle of a field at events far from cameras!

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries had its humble beginnings as an idea of a few artisans and craftsmen who enjoy performing with live steel fighting. As well as a patchwork quilt tent canvas. Most had prior military experience hence the name.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries.

Vendertainers that brought many things to a show and are know for helping out where ever they can.

As well as being a place where the older hand made items could be found made by them and enjoyed by all.

We expanded over the years to become well known at what we do. Now we represent over 100 artisans and craftsman that are well known in their venues and some just starting out. Some of their works have been premiered in TV, stage and movies on a regular basis.

Specializing in Medieval, Goth , Stage Film, BDFSM and Practitioner.

Patchwork Merchant Mercenaries a Dept of, Ask For IT was started by artists and former military veterans, and sword fighters, representing over 100 artisans, one who made his living traveling from fair to festival vending medieval wares. The majority of his customers are re-enactors, SCAdians and the like, looking to build their kit with period clothing, feast gear, adornments, etc.

Likewise, it is typical for these history-lovers to peruse the tent (aka mobile store front) and, upon finding something that pleases the eye, ask "Is this period?"

A deceitful query!! This is not a yes or no question. One must have a damn good understanding of European history (at least) from the fall of Rome to the mid-1600's to properly answer. Taking into account, also, the culture in which the querent is dressed is vitally important. You see, though it may be well within medieval period, it would be strange to see a Viking wearing a Caftan...or is it?

After a festival's time of answering weighty questions such as these, I'd sleep like a log! Only a mad man could possibly remember the place and time for each piece of kitchen ware, weaponry, cloth, and chain within a span of 1,000 years!! Surely there must be an easier way, a place where he could post all this knowledge...

Traveling Within The World is meant to be such a place. A place for all of these artists to keep in touch and directly interact with their fellow geeks and re-enactment hobbyists, their clientele.
